Chapter Text
You were just looking for a restroom. How were you to know this was an undercover Hydra base?
You didn’t think anything of this place. You were simply making a pit stop on your road trip, the need to pee making you pull over to the nearest vicinity that you assumed would have restrooms. You would have gladly driven the extra hour to the next rest area had you known this would happen.
You’d entered the weird building and asked the person who was guarding the door if you could use their bathroom. In an instant you were pushed against the wall being yelled at. They asked you who you were and how you found your way there. You almost wet your pants right there, but then there was a loud bang from the other side of the building and a lot of commotion followed after that.
You took that chance to run down the hallway, seeing that the doors were being blocked off. You saw the restroom sign and followed that and now here you are, hiding in a stall. You make use of the toilet. When you finish emptying your bladder, you make your way to the sink to wash your hands.
On your right, someone bursts through the door. You’re startled and freak out when they point a gun at you. This is it. You are going to die the way you prayed you would never go- in the restroom. At least you weren’t on the toilet.
You close your eyes, prepared to take the bullet. You hear the gun go off, but seconds pass and you are still breathing and do not feel any pain. You open your eyes only to see the one and only Vision, an Avenger, in your midst.
“Are you alright?” he asks. He’s taller than you thought he’d be. You are shocked and could only nod. He smiles and says, “Stay here. You’ll be safer hidden. I will be back once we’ve cleared-”
He doesn’t get the chance to finish. Someone had snuck up behind him and blasted the two of you with something. Obviously you don’t have time to see what it is. It happens so quickly. The two of you are in the air, when the superhero grabs you and wraps you in his arms, turning his body so he gets most of the impact when you hit the wall.
Your vision gets blurry but you can see Captain America rushing in and taking out the person who blasted you and Vision. And then darkness.
You hear a weird beeping noise and assume you are in the hospital, but upon opening your eyes, you see that apart from the sterile look, the room was definitely not a hospital room. It looks more like a fancy lab.
“Good, you're awake.” You hear the woman’s voice before you see her. She comes from around you. She holds a flashlight to your face. A weird laser scans your face. Not a flashlight, you assume. “Well, nothing seems off. Just go get some rest or whatever it is you usually do.”
You read her lab coat. It reads 'Dr. Cho'.
“No discharge papers?” you ask. Woah. How long have you been knocked out? Your voice feels rough. The doctor gives a small laugh but doesn’t bother to answer. “Wanda said you could be funny.”
She leaves with that, not hearing you ask, “Who’s Wanda?”
You get up from the lab table. Was the doctor really short or did you somehow grow a couple of inches? You feel really weird. You search for your things. Your family is probably wondering where you are. They’d probably want to know why you didn’t call them at the time you said you would. They’re probably worried.
You look around the lab but can’t find any of your things. Your red hands pull open and close cabinets, but you come up empty. Red hands?
You regard your hands and sure enough, they’re red. What? You start freaking out. You rush out of the lab. You are in a hallway filled with people left and right. As they pass by, they nod at you in greeting. You approach the next person to look your way.
“Excuse me, I can’t find my things. Do you know where they might’ve put them?” your voice sounds weird. It almost sounds like you have an English accent.
“I don’t know. They’re probably in your room,” the woman suggests.
“My room?” you ask, hoping for more details.
“Or maybe Wanda’s? You’re still together, right? I’ve heard things weren’t going so well, but I’m rooting for the two of you. An unusual couple, but a cute one, you know?”
“Sorry, Wanda?” You look at her confused. You don’t know a Wanda and you also are not in a relationship as far as you can remember.
“Oh, you are probably wondering where she is. Um, last I saw her she was in the training room with Captain Rogers,” the woman informs you. Maybe you will go see this Wanda. Everyone keeps bringing her up. Maybe she can tell you what is going on.
“Thank you.” The woman nods and is about to walk away when you realize you don’t know where the training room is and you stop her. “Wait! Where is the training room?”
“Where it’s always been?” she looks at you oddly. Then she tells you how to get there when she realizes you were actually waiting for her to answer you. “Are you feeling okay, Vision?”
“Yeah, I’m alright. Thank you for the help,” you reply. You begin to walk in the direction she directed you, but after a few steps something she said springs up in your head and you turn around to ask her, “What did you call me?”
However, she’s no longer there to answer your question.
You begin rushing down the halls in search for a mirror. People around you greet you but you ignore them.
“Hello, Vision.”
“Vision, good to see you awake.”
“Vision.”
You see the sign for the restroom and rush that way. You enter the restroom in a hurry, some women exiting and giving you odd looks. You run over to the mirrors in front of the sinks and you understand why those women looked at you strangely.
What you see in the mirror explains the red hands but it brings up a whole load of other questions. Instead of the face that’s always looked back at you in the mirror is the face of Vision.
“What the fuck?”
