"This one.. and this one.. and this one.. and this one.. and this--"
"Hold on now, Sayeon. I promised your mother I wouldn't spoil you anymore." Sana stopped her.
"C'mon mom..! Just this once?"
"Nope! Pick one of the items and I'll buy it for you, but you just can't get all of them."
Sayeon pouted, "But mom~, I'm growing up, I'm changing, and I need new things. Soon, I won't be your little girl anymore, so wouldn't it be best to cherish the time now..?"
"Sweetheart, I love you, but that is not going to convince me to buy you all of this." Sana chuckled.
"Please, please, please!!" she begged, but Sana shook her head.
"Just one, okay?"
"Fine~."
Sayeon ending up putting the one item in the cart, that one item being a small black purse. Sana nodded with a smile before continuing to push the cart down the aisle.
"Mom~! May I please get this?" Sayeon asked her.
"I said one item, sweetheart."
"Since I'm 10, and 10 is 2 digits, I should be able to get 2 items." she reasoned.
"You come up with the most random things sometimes," Sana sighs, "Alright, put it in the cart."
"Ah yes! Thanks mom!"
And.. this continued for.. about 20 more items, with the most ridiculous reasoning and Sana always agreeing. Of course, once they got to the check out, the price was unsurprisingly high.
"I need to start denying things to you more." Sana sighs as she swipes her credit card.
Sayeon giggled, "Thank you so much, mom! I love you!!"
"..."
"What do you want?"
"Do I need a reason to love my mother?" Sayeon gasped and Sana just stared at her.
"Okay so.. there's this--"
"NOPE! We've spent enough money today. Your mother is going to kill me when we get home." Sana shakes her head as she pushes the cart towards the exit.
"Do you think she's going to be mad at me too?" Sayeon asked her.
"Probably."
The two got into the car and started their journey back home, they were almost home until Sana made a suggestion.
"Should we get some fast food?"
"YEAH!"
...
They spent even more money, and once they got home, Nayeon was waiting for them in the living room absolutely fuming.
"Welcome back from your spending spree, girls." she glared at them as they walked through the door.
"..." Sayeon looked down at a bag, "We got you a burger and some fries.."
Nayeon looked down at the bag before sticking her hand out. Sayeon walked over to her with the bag and handed it to her.
"Thanks. BUT! I am still mad at you both. Even though we certainly are very fortunate with the amount of money we have, we can't go around spending it in large sums. We need to save for emergencies," Nayeon started, "And Sana, you need to stop spoiling our child, when she gets older, I don't want her to expect things to immediately be given to her whenever she wants it. She needs to learn how to earn things, understand?"
"I understand."
"Good. And you young lady, please stop making your mom feel the need to buy you all of this stuff."
"Alright, I will."
"Promise me."
"..." Sayeon hesitated.
"Sayeon." Nayeon said firmly, "Promise."
"I promise." she mumbled.
"Good. Now if this happens again, there will be serious consequences for the both of you." Nayeon informs them, and they both nod in understanding.
"Sayeon, you take your stuff to your room. Sana, I need to talk to you."
Sana nods as Sayeon picks up her bags and walks up the stairs with them.
"You need to start saying no to Sayeon. She's not going to take you seriously as she grows up if this keeps happening." Nayeon tells Sana who nods.
"I know.. I know.. but.. she's just really important to me, and I want to do anything to make her happy." she frowns.
"And I understand that, but you need to start putting your foot down. Even if it gets her upset, it's all the best for her," Nayeon says, "What was half of that stuff for anyway?"
"She grew out of another phase, all of that was to feed her new interests." Sana answers.
"Did you really have to buy that much?" she questions.
"Nayeon, she's changing.."
"We're all changing," Nayeon begins, "Once we change even more, we want different things which is why it's best not to buy too many useless items."
"Alright, I got it."
"Good, now promise me."
"I promise?" Sana squeaked.
"It sounds like you were asking a question rather than stating that." Nayeon noticed.
Sana huffs, "I promise.."
"Great." Nayeon smiles, "I love you."
"Love you too."
"And you do know I'm taking your credit card, right?"
"Expected that."
