Their fist clenched, the leather of their glove creaking under the stress, a sharp tinge of pain as the blade was pressed more firmly against his neck. Yet Hien forced himself to stay still, lest any sudden movement on his part lead to far worse than a minor cut. They seemed to be looking beyond him now, lost in whatever thoughts were plaguing them.
Hien cleared his throat softly, partially for their attention and partially to rid himself of the clinging remnants of the clouding gas.
The shinobi’s eyes snapped back into focus, narrowing as they did so.
