Sirius glanced up at the sky sadly. The moon was full and bright red as it rose steadily. It was the Harvest Moon that night, and while it would usually cause him to stare in wonder, now it just made Sirius want to cry. Remus would never get to see the beauty that was the normal full moon, much less the Harvest Moon.
A lonely, pain-filled howl pierced the tense silence of the Forbidden Forest and immediately Sirius, James, and Peter were in their Animagus forms, running towards their friend.
They spent the night like they did all full moons: playing, jumping, running, anything that would keep Remus distracted and away from the school. When the sun rose and the four boys woke, all thoughts of the Harvest Moon were faded from Sirius’s mind. It was probably for the best. It wouldn’t do for Sirius to dwell on those thoughts. It wouldn’t do at all.
