Work Text:

A 22-year-old Luz held the picnic basket as she followed Amith through the woods. “Where are you taking me, amada?”

“Just a little spot from my childhood,” Amity answered as she made her way up the hill.

“Childhood?”

“Yeah, I have good memories from that time in my life,” Amity snarked. “Shocking, right?”

“Oh you know that’s not what I meant!” Luz narrowed her eyes at Amity.

“I know, Sweet Potato,” Amity chuckled. “I know.”

Amity began to trek up a large, grassy hill, a confused Luz following the whole way. Amity reached the top first, while Luz was heavy and huffing by the time she caught up. Luz was no stranger to exercise, but the fact Amity was an athlete showed itself, here.

“So…going…to…explain…now…?” Luz wheezed.

Amity motioned forward, and Luz followed her eyes to see the beautiful sight before her. The Boiling Isles had their own form of the northern lights, but here they revealed themselves around the knee of the Titan, circling it like a halo. Amity and Luz could see them from miles away on this little grassy hill in Bonesborough.

“I always wanted to see the northern lights in person,” Luz said.

“Northern Lights?” Amity tilted her head.

“Oh…uh…human world thing.” Luz awkwardly rubbed the back of her head.

“Oh.” Amity set down the blanket and sat down, looking up at Luz. “Just going to hog all that food for yourself?”

“Oh! Sorry, amada!” Luz laughed, setting down the picnic basket and sitting beside Amity.

The two silently set out the sandwiches, drinks, fruits, chips, and candy from the human world Luz had offered Amity to try out.

“This place has become a lot more peaceful,” Luz noted.

“We have you to think for that,” Amity reminded. “Struck the killing blow to the genocidal monster, himself.”

“Hey, you guys did a lot, too!” Luz reminded. “You guys stuck your necks out for me, distracted hundreds of thousands of loyal tropes so I could get to him!”

“Wouldn’t have found that bravery if it wasn’t for you,” Amity said.

“How about we agree we’re all awesome?” Luz recommended.

“Deal.” Amity kissed Luz on the cheek. “Now, you better hope any of this human food doesn’t poison me.”

“It won’t!” Luz assured. “Try the Twizzlers first! I can’t believe they don’t have these in the demon realm!”

After the food had been finished, with thankfully no poison from Amity, Luz and Amity sat and continued to watch the lights.

“So, what’s the special occasion?” Luz suddenly broke the silence.

“What?” Amity looked at Luz.

“Don’t play dumb, Ed and Em told you had something planned.” Luz smiled and winked.

“Ugh…I’m going to kill those two!” Amity groaned. “They didn’t tell you what I specifically had planned?”

“Nope!” Luz confirmed with a ‘POP’.

“Good.” Amity stood and held out her hand, gently pulling Luz to her feet when she took it.

“What’s up, Amada?”

“Luz…I honestly have no idea where to start…but meeting you was the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Amity began. “You changed me, Eda, King, and the Boiling Isles as a whole for the better, and I wouldn’t be as happy as I am now if I didn’t have you in my life. So…”

“A-Amity?” Luz covered her mouth, she knew exactly where this was going.

“I don’t know what the future holds, but I feel it would be better if I had you in it.” Amity got down on one knee and pulled out a small black box, opening it to reveal a beautiful diamond ring. “Luz Noceda, will you marry me?”

Luz had tears in her eyes and couldn’t speak, so she just shook her head. Amity smiled, practically jumping to her feet to hug Luz.

“I love you more than life itself, Amada,” Luz whispered into Amity’s ear.

“I love you too, Luz.” Amity returned the hug.

The two must’ve stayed like that for hours, hugging under the Lights of the Boiling Isles.
