Summary
They've faced titans. Monsters. Dealt with the gods. Turns out the hardest thing Percy and Annabeth have ever had to do is stand across from each other — sword to sword — and pretend that's the only fight happening.
It's not. There's everything they haven't said. The prophecy hanging over their heads. The weeks of careful distance that have taken up more space than either of them knows what to do with.
A lego house — that's what they're building. Piece by piece. Snapped together and pulled apart and put back together again, because that's what you do when something matters. You don't leave it broken on the floor. You pick up the pieces. You start again.
It falls apart sometimes. That's the nature of it. That's the nature of them.
But Percy will always pick up the pieces. And Annabeth will always come back to build.

Summary
For years Annabeth Chase had always just been someone Percy Jackson noticed in the high school hallways. Someone he had only spoken to a handful of times. Someone who always existed just outside of his life. Someone noticeable. Someone who would never, ever notice him. Never even talk to him unless it was absolutely necessary to do so. No way. Couldn't happen. Right?
Wrong!
Or, alternatively, to set the stage, Percy is entering his junior year of high school and the very girl he only ever really saw from a distance, Annabeth, is suddenly not so distant. She's sat in the seat right in front of him in his first period class.

Oh, hell, no.
The world was actively unraveling. Kronos was rising piece by piece, like some grotesque puzzle nobody had asked to solve.
And Percy?
Percy was bound to a prophecy, which meant that he practically came with an expiration date.
He might not live to see adulthood. He might not live to see sixteen, let alone any life his brain could picture. The Fates had probably already bookmarked the page where he died heroically or catastrophically or both.
This was not the time for whatever soft, glowing, hopelessly inconvenient thing was taking root inside his ribcage.

Percy Jackson thought the thorns in his chest were a curse. Turns out they were just what happens when one falls in love with Annabeth Chase. He explains the strange garden in his chest, and she (he, too) learns exactly how long he has loved her.
