Work Text:
It finally was the day off for Darius. He was absolutely exhausted, working two jobs: being abomination coven's head, official one, and making plans against the Emperor, secret one. Trying to keep his image, so no one would know about his conspiracy activity, often meant taking more work onto his shoulders. Connecting this with planning and communicating with Raine made him even more tired than usually.
Darius decided to have some fun and forget about tough everyday life. He spent most of the day on beauty procedures, like masks and peelings. After taking good care of his body he decided that it would be beneficial to do something for his mind as well. Getting all of the problematic stuff of his head for at least few hours should do the trick.
With that thought, coven's head looked through the offers of night clubs on his scroll. He searched for not the most popular place, but with good reviews. After a bit more than ten minutes he managed to find the perfect place.
Clubs weren't a new thing to him. When he was younger, before becoming a coven's head, he visited this kind of places quite often. Dressing fancy, catching others' eyes and drinking colourful beverages always sounded like fun. He could feel like a star, with witches coming closer to him, wanting to dance or glancing at his chest as they talked. It really raised man's confidence.
When sun set and evening time came, Darius started to prepare himself to go. Witches tend to base their first impression on someone's appearance, because it is the first thing about a person that others can see. He wasn't blaming them, getting to know someone takes way more time than taking a fast look on them. Anyway, because of that fact, he made sure that he will look absolutely perfect. Self-assurence boost was exactly what he needed at the moment.
First step was deciding what to wear. His closet was full of fancy clothes, so choosing wasn't easy. Finally, he picked black, tight, sleeveless turtleneck, striped high waisted trousers and feather shawl to finish the look. Next thing: hair. It wasn't the hard part. A bit of magic let him make it look perfect in seconds. Finishing touch was a bit of make-up. Small eyeliner lines and a bit of dark brown eyeshadow made him look mysterious and more attractive.
After an hour of preparation, he was finally ready to go. Club wasn't far away from his place, so it took him only few minutes to get there. After getting inside, he felt familiar excitement. Witches sitting near looked at him to check who arrived and some of them looked amused. It made him smirk as he headed to the bar.
Suddenly, he saw one face which catched his eye. His heart nearly skipped a beat. It was the last person who he would expect to see here.
Alador Blight.
They knew each other quite well. They were friends as a kids, going together to Hexside. Even better, they were dating at some point. Later Odalia insert herself between them and ruined everything. Darius was left heartbroken. He wasn't sure how all of this happened. He heard something about arranged marriage, but Alador never wanted to talk about it. He seemed rather sad whenever Darius tried to start that topic. Knowing would make it much easier to deal with the feeling of sudden rejection, but that knowledge wasn't for him.
Anyway, his past love was there, glancing at him with the same amazement he could see in others' looks. He couldn't help but smile, as his heart started feeling with hope. After all these years, maybe Alador still had a thing for him? He never looked happy about marrying Odalia after all.
After few seconds, Alador started playing with his glass, spinning the drink around and watching ice cubes in it hit each other. Darius decided to act. He wanted to have fun after all, right? So meeting the old friend was a perfect thing to do. Well, it was possible that his ambitions were actually a bit different than refreshing old bonds, but he wouldn't admit it to himself. It might've make him too emotional and ruin his evening.
Darius ordered two pretty drinks. Tops of glasses were covered in sugar and beverage inside was purple. Perfect for a talk between two powerful abomination mages.
Coven's head made his way to Alador's table, sitting right in front of him. He placed one glass next to Blight's hand.
"Alone night out?" He asked. He couldn't see Odalia anywhere and there wasn't any proof that she was there: no purse, coat or anything like that. He crossed his finger for a positive answer.
"Yes" Alador said. No other explanations. Short, easy answer. Emotionless voice tone. Exactly like in the past. Nothing changed.
"What do you want?" Blight asked, finally raising eyes from his drink to look at Darius. His golden eyes made him unable to speak for a moment.
"It's nice to see a familiar face while being out. Wouldn't it be nice to talk a little to your old friend?" Well, they weren't talking much through the last years. Breaking up and Alador's marriage made them distance from each other, talking less and less. Darius tried to send him a text once in a while, but always got rejected. It made him bitter about Alador and everyone thought, that they actually hate each other. That wasn't the truth. It was far more complicated.
"I guess." Short answer again. Darius wasn't sure anymore if he will be able to have an actual conversation with him, but then the other man sipped the drink which Darius brought. He interpreted it as an acceptance of his company.
Darius also took a sip. Sweet taste of sugar mixed with drink itself filled his mouth. Alador played with glass just like before. Man examined him for a few seconds.
Hair a bit more messy than usually. A bit of facial hair on his chin and upper lip. Same golden eyes, which cause his heart to beat faster... Damn. That wasn't what he planned for this evening. Instead of having fun, he was falling for Blight once more. Or maybe he never stopped loving him? It shouldn't matter. He has a wife now, after all.
"I'm tired lately. Odalia gives me a headache." Alador's voice got Darius out of his thoughts. He was surprised. Alador rarely ever talked about himself, especially his feelings, even when asked. And now, he just started talking suddenly, without anyone encouraging him to.
"What's the matter exactly?" Darius asked, not hiding his curiosity. If that bitch did something to him...
"She wants to make the best impression possible on the Emperor. The thing is, I have to work for it, not her. Plus she is awful to kids lately. More than usually" he explained after a minute of silence. His wife never was perfect, but lately he started to see it, because his relationship with kids improved.
"You do not have to obey her, you know it, right?" Darius rised his eyebrow. He would love to get him out of this life. With him he would be so much happier. He knew it.
"I don't want to argue with her. It's pointless." Short answer again. They had lots of disagreements.
"Wouldn't you rather have fun than sit there and drink in sadness? Let's dance" Darius said, smiling at the other man. He couldn't waste his chance.
"I'm not the best dancer" Alador sipped his drink again, not looking at Darius anymore. Coven's head placed his hand on Blight's palm.
"To be honest, barely anyone here can dance" he pointed at the dance floor near them "so it won't be an issue" he finished the sentence with a smirk. Alador wasn't quite sure, but finally agreed. They finished their drinks and went to the dance floor.
Alador wasn't lying. He didn't know what to do with himself on the parquet. His moves were awkward and completely out of beat. Darius decided to lead him a bit, staying really close to the other man. He felt butterflies in his stomach while holding him so close. The best thing was that Alador seemed relaxed and he didn't really mind Darius' behaviour. It filled dark skinned man with happiness.
He couldn't not admit that he's still weak for Alador. He had lots of time to heal, but never actually got feelings towards him out of his heart. It kicked him back right now.
After few songs they got back to the table. Darius sat next to him this time, to stay close. On the way back they bought two more drinks. Dancing made them thirsty.
"I didn't know that clubs are your kind of places" Darius started a conversation, placing his hand on Blight's palm again. He desperately needed to stay in physical contact with him. "I deserve it, this is all I can get after all these years of silent suffering" he thought.
"They aren't. But they are yours" he answered. Darius looked at his face with surprise, to find out that he was slightly blushing. He... Wanted to meet him here? He posted something about having fun tonight before, but didn't think that it would bring the Alador to him...
"Being married to someone who's only a friend of mine at the best days is tiring. She doesn't want to give me any warmth. I'm getting tired of that play" he added, seeing shock on Darius' face.
"You really wanted to see me... To meet me in conditions in which I would be likely to put my pride away and talk to you normal way..." He was more thinking loudly than asking. Was it really happening? It felt like a dream. Alador wanting to spend time with him. To get... Warmth he needs. Darius squeezed his hand harder. Then he noticed lack of the ring on Alador's finger. He raised his eyes with the silent question.
"Let's act like I'm not married tonight" he said quietly. That change in tone was hiding so many emotions, someone who knew him might tell in a second. And Darius knew him really well.
Alador missed him all this time. He really did. But first years of marriage with Odalia were fine. She acted like she loved him deeply, maybe she did, who knows. He could have her attention, sweet words and time. Maybe he acted like a cold-hearted man sometimes, spending more time with his creations than people, but he really needed warmth and intimacy with the other witch. And after kids were born, it became her goal to make them absolutely perfect. The older they got, the less important Alador felt. One of the breaking points were when Odalia dyed Amity's hair green for the first time. It felt like she wanted to erase his connection with their offspring.
Odalia wasn't a bad person, after all. They were friends back then at school and if they stayed friends, it would be much better for Alador. He liked her, but not in that way. His dream partner was Darius. But he didn't want to disobey his parents, so when they told him, that marrying Odalia is their will he broke up with Darius. Later he felt like a loser and was ashamed of his lack of courage. This is why he never wanted to explain what happened to his ex boyfriend.
After all these years he finally got enough bravery to try and get out of this mess, at least for a few hours. He really wanted to spend them with Darius, like in old, good times. The other man's reactions proved, that he also missed him.
Darius was staring at Alador's hand for few more seconds. After that he looked at his face, slowly placing his hand on Blight's cheek. He could feel and see the other man slightly blush. Darius observed his lips and slowly leaned in.
When their lips finally touched, both men could feel something like electricity jolt coming through their bodies. Darius kissed him deeply. After time that long, he couldn't get enough of his lips. He missed them. They still were a bit rough, like back then, in highschool. He could bet that Alador forgot to use chopstick outside and wind caused them to crack. Despite that, kissing him was the best feeling he could imagine.
When they finally stopped, Darius let out a soft moan. He craved it for so long that it felt almost like ecstasy right now.
"Let's go to my place. I don't think that I should kiss you like that with so many possible spectators around" Darius whispered. Alador nodded.
It was really hard to get up, as it meant backing off from Alador for a moment, but he managed. He couldn't think about anything else than sweet taste of his lips, mixed with aftertaste of beverages which they drank earlier.
Few minutes which they needed to get to Darius' home felt like hours for both of them. Men were glancing at each other, wanting to grab hands at least. But it was better to wait a little bit and then do not have to worry about someone seeing them anymore.
Darius took Alador's cote and hanged it. He did the same thing with his, while brunet was taking off his shoes. Darius took him to the living room and sat on the coach. Waiting more was pointless. He leaned in again, to kiss Alador once more.
Blight wrapped his arms around other man's neck and kissed him back. It was so good to feel loved and needed again. Darius kissed him deeper, causing Alador to lean back and finally lay down on the coach. Dark skinned man hide his face in Blight's neck for a moment. He could feel Alador's smell this way. It was weird mix of oil, abomination and some kind of perfume. Specific odoeur, but Alador's. It was enough for Darius to find it pleasant.
Brunet run his fingers around Darius' strong arms. These muscles he gained sure were a hot glow up. He always was attractive, but now he was also mature, which made him even more handsome. Puberty didn't ruin his skin, it still was smooth. Thanks to balm and other beauty tricks, probably. Darius always liked to care about his appearance, which was opposite of Alador's attitude to that matter. His ex never seemed to mind, actually. He tried to take care about him, but without forcing him to do anything.
Darius slowly got up, lifting his face away from Alador's neck. Blight pressed on his back to make him come closer and lay on him again.
"Hey, I wanted to kiss you once more" Darius chuckled. "Are you craving a hug so badly that you won't let me go?" He teased him a little with a soft smile on his lips.
"Odalia doesn't want to touch me at all, I can't remember the last time I got a hug" he said. Darius didn't expect such an answer. Their marriage was worse than he expected...
"How is it even possible that you two have kids? Is she able to reproduce on her own or something?" Darius cringed, hugging Alador again. If he needed it, then he is going to give him exactly the thing he wants.
"I don't know. She seemed to be a bit mad about going to bed with me and wasn't happy about pregnancy thing. Especially that we had twins on the first try. Lot of obstacles to overcome connected with it" Alador run his fingers threw Darius' hair. It was a bit strange feeling, as he had this weird abomination hair now. It was normal when they were younger and then the feeling was completely different. It didn't matter that much after all, because Alador liked it both ways.
"Bitch didn't know how lucky she was" Darius commented without much thinking. Being so close with Alador sounded like a dream. He would love to make him his.
"You are talking about my wife" Alador answered. He was joking, of course. He wasn't mad. Odalia was a bitch most of the time.
"You do not have a wife today, remember?" Dark skinned man chuckled and kissed his jaw. He did this to avoid getting up, otherwise he would kiss his lips, but his action had side effect.
"Could you do it again?" Alador asked. His voice was a bit shaky, only a little bit. But Darius noticed.
"Of course" he kissed his jaw again. Next target of his lips was a bit lower. He placed a kiss on Alador's neck. More than one, actually. His goal was to give brunet lots of pleasure. He obviously needed and deserved it.
Excitement grew in dark skinned man as he kept kissing Blight's neck. He even half way unbuttoned Alador's shirt, to smooch his collarbones. A quiet moan escaped brunet's lips. He pressed Darius head to his skin. Lack of physical contact in any way, especially of this kind, made him crave more.
Darius' kisses became longer and deeper. After smooching down from the jaw to chest, he made his way back, kissing him even more.
"No marks, please" Alador said after one of quite intense kisses. "Odalia might find out" he added.
"Odalia doesn't exist today, did you forget already?" He answered with teasing smirk. "But fine. No marks, as you wish."
After these words, Darius kissed his lips again. He could do it the whole evening and then the whole night. And it still wouldn't be enough. All of these waisted years... Is it even possible to get enough of each other now? Probably not and definitely not during one night.
But that doesn't mean that they cannot try.
"I can bet that your bed is bigger than that couch" brunet said, shocking Darius not the first and most likely not the last time today. Was he really suggesting what he thought about?
"Are you saying what I think that you are?" He asked, sitting on Alador's hips. He had to make sure that it wasn't only his fantasy. He was thinking about it earlier after all, in context of Odalia being lucky.
"I want to do it with someone who actually loves me" he said, placing his hand on Darius' cheek. Dark skinned man couldn't say "no". Not to Alador. Not when he was gently smiling at him. And definitely not when he bend him down to kiss him again.
After a long kiss, abomination coven's head took his lover to the bedroom, so they would have more space. Alador's hands began to touch Darius' chest. It was when he completely lost his mind.
Making love with Alador felt even better than he could imagine. There wasn't a single moment in which they weren't close. Darius felt like the happiest and the luckiest man in the world. His love was right next to him, covered with the same blanket and resting his head on his chest. Darius could brush his messy hair with his fingers, feeling its nice texture between them.
"I thought that you'll be more experienced if you have three kids" Darius teased him after calming his breath. Alador acted quite shy through the whole thing.
"Odalia did most of the work" he answered, gently rubbing his chest with his hand.
"I didn't want to know!" They both laughed. Darius smiled widely. Hearing Alador's laugh was like a win on the lottery. Whole evening felt like it. Like a weird but pleasant dream.
"I'm really glad that I've met you in that club today" Blight said after a minute of silence.
"You didn't seem happy at first, but I'm also glad" he gently stroke Alador's hair, and then kissed his head. "I still love you after all these years, you know? Even if I was fighting with myself not to prove it until now" he decided that it is the right moment to say that. He felt that it is thing that is needed to be said.
"I was quite stressed. I knew that I am planning to reunite with you and-"
"Did you plan ending up in my bedroom as well?" He interrupted, laughing quietly. Alador shook his head.
"Not really. That was an unplanned part. But I wanted to kiss you. You were first with it in the end" he smiled.
"Does it mean that there's a chance... That you still love me too?" Darius' heart started beating faster. He stared into brunet's face, waiting for an answer.
Alador felt another man's heartbeat increasing. He tried calming him down by kissing his cheek.
"If it weren't my parents, I would never break up with you" he admitted it, finally. It was really hard for him to find enough courage. He knew that by saying this, he also admitted that he was a coward, too afraid to fight for his true love.
"I hoped that it looked like this. I've heard something about arranged marriage, but you never wanted to explain anything... I was afraid that something was wrong with me, that I did or said something that made you distance yourself from me. Sometimes I couldn't sleep, thinking about it. And I absolutely hated that" Darius sighed.
"I didn't want to admit that I gave up without a fight" Alador sighed as well. "Anyway, answering your question: I still love you, too, Darius" he said, looking him in the eyes. Man answered with a kiss on his lips.
"So... not that much changed since then, right?" Alador smiled again. His heart felt lighter after finally telling him.
"Only the thing that I am a coven's head and you have three kids. Nothing big" he laughed and gave him quick peak on the lips.
"Your lips didn't change at all, for example. Still soft and quite big" Blight commented.
"Yours are also the same as before. Dry and kind of rough" Darius answered. "I think that I have something which can help with softening them" he reached the drawer in his bedside cabinet. He took a lip balm out of it. Then he applied it on his lips and smooched Alador to share.
"One use won't be enough" brunet said with a smile. Darius kissed him again with pleasure.
They spent rest of the evening on cuddling and saying everything which remained unsaid for way too long. Feeling so happy seemed like something impossible for both of them until that moment.
Alador stayed for the night, not wanting to leave Darius' side as long as it was possible.
Next morning was hard for both of them. They knew, that Alador needs to go home and Darius is already late for work, but neither of them seemed to care. What mattered was to stay close, so they won't wake up from the dream which started last evening.
Sadly, they had to finally get up. Disappearence of both of them at the same time would be rather weird.
"Have you seen my boxers?" Alador asked, wandering around the room. Darius couldn't help but stare at him. Oh Titan, he was beautiful.
"I would offer you mine, but it might be not the best idea. Odalia might realize what happened if she found it. Maybe it got lost in the sheets" he started checking.
"Ah, right. Today I have wife. Yesterday ended" Alador sighed. Darius managed to find brunet's underwear and handed it to him. Alador put it on, following with rest of his clothes.
"Why won't you free yourself from her?" Darius asked, while dressing up. "You are tired and done with her. Where's the point?"
"Kids. She won't let me take the kids if I divorce her. And with her only, they will be in an awful situation. I can't do it to them" he explained.
"Oh, right. That makes sense" Darius nodded his head. "Maybe when kids will be grownups" he added.
"Maybe" he shrugged his shoulders. "Anyway, I have to go now" he approached Darius and gave him a long, goodbye kiss on the lips.
"I know... But, hey?" He stopped him at the front door. "Is there a chance that you won't have a wife again anytime soon?" Darius asked with a weak smile.
"There is. I'll inform you" Alador answered and kissed his cheek. After that, he left and headed to his place. He was smiling all the way there.
Darius couldn't really focus on work. He was thinking about Alador all day long. In the evening, when he got back home, he smiled at his scroll. He had one unread message.
"I missed you"
"I missed you, too"
