Summary
They stand there in the circle of each other’s arms, swaying as if to music, for long enough that Alex starts to feel the cold. But he doesn’t want to move. He never wants to move again, afraid somehow that to step outside of this moment will shatter something, that what seems too good to be true will reveal itself to be just that.
But eventually Michael shifts, one of his hands coming around so he can brush a thumb along the line of Alex’s jaw. “Do you want to go back inside with the others?”
The way he asks the question, Alex knows the answer he’s meant to give, and he smiles easily, looking up into the bright, obvious hope in Michael’s eyes. “Not even a little bit.”
