Chapter Text
His heart stopped, as his gaze landed on you. The last moments he remembered in his home universe began rushing back into his mind, but he was no longer able to stop it.
You, reaching out your hand as Tess was beside you, yelling out his name. Though he knew it was no use, as he fell through the portal. He watched as his appearance changed, before closing his eyes from the guilt.
Questions began to swirl around in his mind like delicate snowflakes, slowly piling up and up until it began to crash into him like an avalanche, bearing the full weight of his actions down upon him.
Freezing him in place.
Did you ever find out he was supposed to be a traitor from the moment he found Looker, who assigned him to that mission? Were you ever informed of any of this?
...Or did you not know, now holding a grudge against him?
That pause was him trying to make sense of it all, as he stared into your (e/c) eyes, hoping this was not true.
But he wouldn't blame you if indeed that was true.
He eyed your movements as you cautiously stepped closer to him, having heard his words before.
You then shut your eyes, before opening them and rushing towards him, taking a leap of faith that was your own choice.
Jake 'oof'ed, stumbling as he was crashed into, before hesitatingly he wrapped his arms around your body after you did, now shaking.
It took you a moment to realize he was crying, as something slightly dampened your shoulder.
''I'm- I'm so sorry!'' He cried out, gripping your clothes with a strength you hadn't seen from him before, as more tears rolled down his face. ''I- I really messed up, didn't I-''
''No, no, Jake!'' You cry out in response, fighting back tears as you tried to console him, and his present fears. ''I know what you did, and I understand.''
The dark-haired boy sniffled, taking in a few breaths as he tried to calm himself. He then opened his eyes, as he heard someone clearing their throat. You opened yours as well, turning your attention over to where he was looking.
There, in front of you and Jake, was the miner-
And Naya, who had just pulled down her black and white shades to show her widened eyes, which was accompanied by her gaping mouth.
''Alright, someone tell me what I missed.'' Naya said, as she eyed the both of you. You then quickly pull away from your old childhood friend, muttering an apology.
The miner beside her was quite surprised himself, but he didn't seem to react as much as the Battle Star did. Instead, he nodded to the two before leaving the main cave.
Now an awkward tension hung in the air, so Naya pulled back up her shades, striding forward. She furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at Jake, stopping at the smaller crystal.
Ignoring the dark-haired boy, she began to explain the properties of the giant crystal in front of you, whilst Jake usually looked to the ground then back up to you when you weren't looking, playing it safe by his own rules.
When the Battle Star had finished, she turned fully to look at you and Jake, and a small smile graced her features for a brief moment.
Though, she didn't make any comment, much to your gratefulness.
''I look forward to the next time we meet. Take it easy now.'' Naya told you, as she turned to leave, walking out of the cave.
Jake bit his lip as he faced you, before realizing you and him were closer than he was usually comfortable with. He shook his head, as a blush settled on his face, turning away which caused you some confusion.
The two of you then settled on walking out of the cave, as staying in there could cause more of the miners to be frustrated.
Unfortunately, the two of you parted ways, for the moment, but you added each other on your LoomiWatches, (which Jake didn't have beforehand but you managed to somehow get him one).
Fast forward a bit, you and Jake were training together, but not always in the same spot, as today you were training in your favourite route.
It was starting to get dark, and your Loomians, as well as Jake's, were starting to get tired.. when something happened.
A large, yellowish portal with a blocky shape, and purple swirling depths suddenly materialized in front of you two.
You heard a yell as a person tumbled out, grunting as they hit the ground.
You saw a hat fall onto the ground, which the person took, getting up to their feet. A smile quickly found itself on her face, which you quickly recognized as Tess, another friend of yours.
Still, she had her long, dark purple hair, with the matching scarf, and the smile with the slightly crooked teeth you came to find quite endearing in your eyes.
Her clothes were a bit dirty though.
You supposed it was because of the ground she fell on, but in certain parts the fabric was frayed and in others torn.
The both of you, that being Jake and yourself, ran to meet her, and the three of you came together in a group hug that reminded you of old times.
Where you could live with the knowledge you had people to depend on and help you, but also do the same for them as you saw fit.
But it seemed then, before you saw Jake, that those times were over, the last you saw of your home was as everything was literally crashing down.
You didn't make it to the portal.
You almost died.
But, another opened up below you, swallowing you whole, and everything else seemed to disappear. You had been so lost.. that everything else didn't seem to matter.
And here you were now, with the people you trusted with your life.
Forever and always, you hoped.
