Chapter Text

Long ago... there was a time where gods, monsters and humans lived in harmony.

Until one day, the gods, unsatisfied with the way humans acted against them for power, left them with a remnant of what they once were.

When all four godly artifacts were assembled, the gods will return with their judgement on humanity, if humanity cannot put aside their greed, they will be wiped from existence.

Heroes have tried to cleanse the world of all evil, though there were some losses, they were victorious in killing the evil witch that controlled all monsters, Salem.

Locked inside the mountains of Atlas, the gods returned and deemed humanity worth saving and promised to bless good children with powers, but if one were to be a bad child, you will face the wrath of the evil god of darkness will eat you up!

“AH! Can you stop that?” Lily shrieks at his brother for the third time today. She was busy daydreaming and didn’t know that her brother was talking until he scared her with that stupid tone.

“Are you even listening?” Toast raised his eyebrows and shook his head.

“Why would you bore me with old fairytales, we’re going to Luminar! Aren’t you excited?!” she exclaims.

He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms, leaning against a wall of the ship, clearly ecstatic. He didn’t answer as he looks out the view from above.

Where the ruins of a fallen beacon lie, stands the school they were attending from afar. It looks like a silver crown in the distance, strong, noble… and expensive.

Everyone on board also noticed the view a tad later than he did and they started to crowd around him. Unable to stand that, he immediately left his spot.

“Ah! Wait!” Lily exclaims, despite wanting to look at the view, she shuffled with Toast, unwilling to part with him. He will have to fix that…

“Lily… you don’t have to follow me everywhere, (b-but) I know you don’t like it but we might be in different teams and you will need to learn how to do things with other people…” he replies, ignoring her puppy eyes and sad look. It was the reality of it but feeling bad he turns to steer the conversation.

“Anyway, aren’t you excited to meet some fans?” He teases.

“F-f-fans?!” Lily squeaks and covers her mouth with her collar as if that will hide her whole self.

Toast grins, though she seems shy, her fans were kind, being a popular artist, there was bound to have someone who knows her here.

Speaking of, there is a shy boy in front of them stealing glances. Toast grins and confidently walks up towards the boy. When he moved he immediately looked away and pretended to be busy.

“Toast!” Lily exclaims in a low voice.

“Hiii! How’s it going?” He asks. “Have you heard of Lilypichu?”

“Toast!”

“U-um… yeah… that’s her right…” he mutters.

“What? I can’t hear you sorry?”

“N-nice to meet you!” He blurts.

Toast smirks, who is this guy fooling? Stammering and stuttering over his words, typical behavior that gets all the ladies, Lily and him is sure to get along.

He pushed Lily in front of him.

“N-nice to meet you too! I’m Lily! What’s your name?” she says a little panicky and robotically, he will have to work on that more…

“I’m… Sykkuno!” He smiles and it’s the brightest thing in the room. Toast rolls his eyes internally as they start gushing over video games. That’s the one thing they are both comfortable with talking he guessed.

The ship couldn’t land fast enough, he looks at the school with a set of determination in his eyes. No the sun is not glaring to his eyes, he rather stare at it rather than look away.

The green glow of the clock tower was a warm, as if welcoming him home.

"To where I belong-"

His monologue was interrupted by a bump behind him and he looks around, expecting to find someone loud and rude.

However, what faced her was a girl with faded brown hair, like the fall season looking at him with wide brown eyes.

"Um... can I help you?" Toast asks.

"Call me crazy but... I feel like I've seen you before..." she mutters.

"Huh?"

"Oh! What were you lookin' at?" She asks.

She peers over and noticed something," oh dear, it's not going to rain is it?"

Toast looks back and behind where the clock tower were dark clouds that he somehow missed before.

"Hm... how curious..."

"Curious? About the amount of rain clouds? Isn't it because it's metal?"

Toast tilts his head," by your logic there should be clouds around your scroll right now."

"True, I'm Valkyrae! My friends call me Rae!" She beams.

"Toast," he curtly replies, though he didn't seem unhappy he wasn't exactly excited either. Rae grins as if finding something fun.

"So Toast!... do you know the way?"
