Work Text:
Viktor stepped out of the way of the door as he watched Five walk out of that room.
He had supposedly found the final piece of the puzzle, the piece that would tell them exactly what would cause this new apocalypse.
And Viktor let himself hope for a second. He let the optimism slip through the fog of guilt and pessimism that he'd been feeling for weeks on end, ever since he found out another apocalypse was looming. He almost let himself open his mouth.
But the piercing look that Five gave him told him he didn't need to ask what he had found.
"It's you." Five said, his voice cold and unreadable as ever.
And that was enough to make the facade of unfazed-ness and thick skin Viktor had been building up over the past week crumble in an instant.
He felt his mind go cold.
Then the burning tears stream down his face.
"Are you completely sure, Five?" Allison asked hurriedly as he looked over at Viktor. "You didn't make a mistake with the documents or-"
"No." Five responded. "I'm absolutely sure, Allison. I've done the math to back it up, I've done everything in my power to. And I've found it completely makes sense."
"But maybe-"
"Okay, enough about confirming this is true. How about we think about solutions to prevent and contain the problem?" Luther interrupted.
Viktor watched a burning anger light in Allison's eyes.
"How about we treat him with decency this time?" Allison angrily snarled.
"It's fine Allison, I-" Viktor tried to reply.
"Listen, I know what I did last time was wrong, and I'll try to do better this time, but you have to understand I did what I thought was best for this family." Luther said, coldly staring at Allison.
"Hey, let's calm down!" Klaus said, waving his hands in the air. "How about we ask Viktor how he's feeling and what he thinks we should do? I feel like we should do that this time."
"Yeah, you're right." Allison replied, slowly turning away from Luther.
"I- I don't- how are we going to solve this?" Viktor said, genuinely thinking.
"I've always been the common denominator." Viktor said, his voice shaking. "No matter what we do, I'm always the cause of the apocalypse."
Viktor went numb.
"What if we got rid of me?" He asked quietly.
