Its a fundamental law that all things in the world are made of much smaller things, such as how human beings are clumps of small cells stacked upon each other. How water is a bunch of hydrogen and oxygen molecules sticking together.
Rui thinks back to a chemistry class earlier this year, where his teacher mentioned how an atom was the smallest unit of anything in the universe. Everything began from this small thing that couldn't be seen with a naked eye. It fascinated him when she mentioned it, the thought that although some things were enormous, they all came back to the same microscopic particle.
The sun hangs high in the sky, the clouds white and barely blocking the sunlight with the chime of the school bell off by a few minutes. 'Ah,' he muses as he hears familiar footsteps jog up the stairs reaching the rooftop. 'He's right on cue, as expected from our star.'
"Rui! There you are! I couldn't find you at your class earlier and thankfully my brilliant mind decided to check up here!"
Rui opens his eyes from where he was lying down, to the scalding sun. He turns his head to see a slightly out of breath blonde boy, with his matching colored cardigan atop their shared school uniform. His eyes wander to the slightly messy hair and the slight pink of the boy's cheeks.
"Well Tsukasa-kun, I didn't quite think you were looking for me today. After all, our next show isnt due very soon and the details are to be discussed later today, no?"
The tone in his voice is light with teasing but he finds Tsukasa's face is graced with a slight frown, his eyebrows crossing.
"Hey, I don't hang out with you just because of our shows, you know!"
Rui is taken aback by how passionate Tsukasa's tone is. He blinks and opens his mouth to say something but the other boy continues before he could.
"Hmph, I thought everyone in the team knew but looks like I'll have to work harder to show everyone that all of you are my friends as well."
A determined look is now plastered on Tsukasa's face, no doubt a plan forming in his head. Rui slowly registers what had just been said, before a small laugh escapes his lips.
It's now Tsukasa who's now taken aback, not expecting a laugh from the purple haired boy.
"Hey don't laugh at me! As your wonderful leader, of course I have to be friends with the people in my group."
The words cause more laughter to come out of Rui, prompting a confused frown to appear on Tsukasa's lips.
"What's so funny?! It's exactly like you said Rui, a show is nothing when there is only one person!"
The sincerity in Tsukasa's voice makes Rui stop his stream of laughter and a teasing smile graces his face instead.
"You remembered what I said Tsukasa-kun? Even though it was quite some time ago?"
A furious red kisses Tsukasa's skin, if Rui didn't know any better he'd attribute it to the blazing sun.
"A-ah I mean, of course I do…you reminded me about my original purpose of becoming a star, a show could never be done alone."
The blonde mumbles out, rubbing the back of his neck with one arm while the other tugs slightly at his yellow cardigan. The flush had spread to his neck it seems, and with a small chuckle Rui realises he's sporting the same shade of red.
Rui hums and stands up abruptly, slightly startling the other boy as he jumps from the action. A giggle is let out from the director's mouth before he's slowly shortening the distance between the two, leaving plenty of time for Tsukasa to back out.
However, Tsukasa seemed glued to his spot, sporting reddening cheeks and an embarrassed smile.
Rui feels that his heart may jump out of his chest with how much it's beating. He finally closes the distance between them both, eyes closed and arms snugg around Tsukasa's waist. The other boy's voice is muffled as he groans about how tall Rui is, even as he wraps his arms around his shoulders in return.
They sit in a comfortable silence for a while, content to just be in each other's embrace. Rui peaks open one of his eyes to see Tsukasa with his eyes closed, smiling into Rui's lavender cardigan. The boy's face is snugg in Rui's neck, expression serene.
Rui recalls what he was thinking of earlier. If everything big is all made out of something small then, Rui thinks, Tsukasa is probably made out of stardust.
He can't find a logical reason in his head, amidst all the knowledge on engineering or science, on why the boy in his arms shines so brightly. Tsukasa seems to radiate warmth, and even on a hot day like this, he still manages to outshine even the sun.
Tsukasa is made out of selflessness, Rui thinks, one that he himself doesn't really realise. He's effortlessly selfless with everyone he's around with, in his own loud and boisterous way. Rui recalls the blonde's determination in fulfilling his roles, he recalls the kindness in his big laughs.
'Ah, it seems I'm quite smitten, aren't I'
"Rui? As much as I'd like to be snuggling with you all day, can we sit down? My feet are getting tired"
Tsukasa's words are still muffled but with their hearts beating so close to each other, Rui can make out what the blonde is saying just fine. He hums out a response before letting his knees fall and bringing Tsukasa down with him.
"Wait, Rui what are you–, RUI WE'RE GOING TO FALL—"
He lets out a laugh even when being met with an angry Tsukasa, reprimanding him. He can't stop feeling happy today it seems, the emotion wanting to burst from his chest. It's as if his body isn't strong enough to contain it.
Tsukasa notices he isn't paying attention to his scolding and furrows his eyebrows before his hands creep down to Rui's hips. Rui's eyes widened, already knowing what the other boy was planning with a grin plastered on the blonde's face.
"Since you weren't listening to my grand speech, a punishment must be sent out! I sentence you to a tickle death!"
Rui couldn't even defend himself before Tsukasa started to tickle his sides, a giggle slipping from his lips.
"Now, you must endure the punishment until the end of lunch."
Tsukasa's voice deepens by an octave, roleplaying his role to the best of his ability. He isn't their number one star for nothing after all. Rui couldn't stop the laughter coming out as tears started to appear in his eyes from the tickling.
"HAHA! Now you know my real power!"
Tsukasa boasts, his voice loud and bursting with pride. Rui takes this chance of distraction to latch onto the boy's hips, effectively toppling them over. They land on their sides, a silence enveloping them as the boys find themselves staring at each other.
After a few prolonged seconds of silence, Tsukasa opens his mouth to say something only to be interrupted by Rui planting a kiss on his forehead. As if Tsukasa's face was pink enough, it's bright red now.
Rui giggles at his dumb struck expression before being silenced by Tsukasa's mouth overlapping his. The kiss isn't long, and it's just brief enough that its gone by the time he blinks.
He finds his skin heating up again , and blinks at Tsukasa.
"U–uhm sorry for kissing you out of nowhere I know we haven't really kissed on the lips a lot and I should have told you i was going to do it—"
"Tsukasa-kun"
Tsukasa is brought out of his rambling and looks at Rui, who is sporting the softest grin he has ever seen on him.
"It's alright, and in fact I'm quite delighted by your surprise kisses."
Tsukasa is momentarily stunned at how much tenderness is stored in Rui's gaze and how that it's all directed towards him.
' Ah, this is bad. I feel like my heart might explode. '
Tsukasa groans before hiding his face in his hands, attempting to roll to escape from Rui's embrace. The purple haired boy raises an eyebrow before bringing the blonde closer to him, shortening the gap between them even more.
Rui hums before placing his chin on Tsukasa's shoulder from behind, successfully sandwiching him.
"Where do you think you're going, Tsukasa-kun? Hmm?"
"Away from someone who is attempting to kidnap me."
Rui fakes a hurt gasp before a mischievous grin takes place.
"Oh, and what makes you think that?"
Tsukasa narrows his eyes and points an accusing finger to the director.
"I know your tricks, Rui, don't think you can fool me!"
All Tsukasa gets from Rui is another grin before the other boy is planting kisses all over him. A laugh escapes the blonde's mouth, as Rui continues to smother him.
A kiss on his cheeks, a kiss on his forehead, a kiss on his ears, and multiple ones on his neck. For every giggle that unwillingly escapes Tsukasa, his heart swells.
Ah, he really is so happy.
"A-ah Rui, that tickles– AHAHAHA–"
He continues to grin at Tsukasa, his cheeks hurting from the amount of smiles he's given away. Tsukasa's arms find their way back onto his shoulders and he closes the gap between them.
Rui looks down at Tsukasa's wide grin as he looks back at him and an embarrassed chuckle escapes his mouth. Is it obvious that he's the sap between the both of them? Although he won't ever tell Tsukasa that, just to tease him. He smiles again, holding the star in his arms.
If everything big is made out of one tiny particle, then Rui thinks he'd like to be made out of love.
