Work Text:
“It’s raining today.”
“I can see that, Rin.”
“It was raining yesterday, too.”
“Mhm.”
For the past three days, it’s been raining. Suna’s mood has been less than stellar all weekend because of it. Next to him on the bed, Osamu has been editing and sketching new recipes for the restaurant.
“I’m bored, ‘Samu.”
“I can tell,” Osamu sighs.
“Fix it,” he pouts.
“Anything that would keep ya entertained is too much for yer shoulder to handle right now.”
Suna wiggles his eyebrows suggestively. “Anything?”
“Anything,” his boyfriend says firmly.
He deflates. When he first injured his shoulder, he figured it would be a pain to deal with, both literally and figuratively, but relatively manageable. It’s been only a week since he was given medical leave and he’s already prepared to murder someone. The boredom is driving him insane.
At first, the idea of being able to take a break from the intense training and his stressful, rigid schedule to just relax and spend time at home with his boyfriend sounded liek a godsend. Then Suna realized that suffering through training is so much better than scrolling through the same Youtube videos all day. More importantly, and the real reason this forced bed rest sucks so much, he realized that his loving, beautiful boyfriend has work and therefore cannot lay around for hours on end with him at home.
A massive disappointment.
“It’s just a shoulder injury,” Suna tries.
“It ain’t ‘just a shoulder injury’, Rin. Yer hurt and the doc said no ‘strenuous activity’,” Osamu frowns.
“Sex doesn’t have to be strenuous, babe.”
“We both know if we’re fucking ‘s not gonna be a walk in the park.”
“You could suck my dick?”
The frown intensifies.
“I could suck your dick?”
“Rin,” the other man rolls his eyes. “Give it a rest.”
“All I’ve been doing is resting,” he grumbles.
The sound of rainwater dripping down the gutter fills the room. Suna returns to swiping around on his home screen and Osamu goes back to his notebook, clicker of the pen caught between his teeth. His shoulder aches from the cold, wet air drifting in through the cracks of the window.
Osamu puts the pen down and sighs. “Rin, ‘m sorry, alright? I wish I could be with ya more right now, but the shop’s so busy…”
“And this dumb injury is so inconvenient.”
“That ain’t what I’m saying, love.”
“It’s true, though,” Suna argues. “It’s inconvenient for you and for me. We could be in bed right now, y’know…doing things, if it weren’t for this dumb muscle.”
“If ya weren’t injured, ya wouldn’t even be here, Rin,” Osamu reminds him. “So we wouldn’t be ‘doing things’ either way.”
Huh. Good point. “You know what I mean, Osamu. I just wanna do something. With you, preferably. And we can’t even take a dumb walk because it’s raining, and we can’t really do anything else because my shoulder won’t let me raise my arm higher than my fucking hip and it sucks. A lot.”
Osamu shuffles closer, putting the pen and notebook down on the nightstand to gently grasp Suna’s hand.
“Things are difficult, I get it.” They both know he’s not just talking about the injury. “And it’s okay to be frustrated. But we can’t control the rain or the fact that ya got injured, babe.”
“Well I know that,” he huffs.
“I can lay with you right now and we can watch something, if you want. I know that’s all ya been doing for the most part, but it’s a start? And I got all of tomorrow off, so I'm all yours for now.”
Suna pretends to think, lifting his good arm to tap at his chin. “Are you sure those recipes you’ve been working on aren’t more important?”
Osamu scowls and pinches his thigh. “Positive. Unless ya’d like me to change my mind.”
“No, no, get over here right now,” he pulls Osamu closer and turns around to lay on his good side, shuffling further down the bed. “Cuddle me and don’t you dare try and touch that notebook.”
Osamu, mindful of the injury, places an arm around his waist, hugging him tight, and rests his head on his hand and smiles, carding his fingers through Suna's dark, choppy hair.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Rin."
