Summary
“The plums."
Uncertainty paints itself vividly over his senior’s features. “Plums?”
“I– just…” Atsumu begins, a choked sound at the back of his throat. The words tumble out of his mouth before he could even think to process the weight of them. “The plums,” he says, a shaky breath, then starts again, “the damned plums,” Atsumu digs his nails into his skin and focuses on the deep crescents they form in his palms. “I can’t —” his voice breaks midway, “I can’t eat them anymore.”
The thing they don’t tell you about falling out of love in your twenties is that you never really do fall out of it completely.Series

Summary
He’d already decided on this since the first night he let the flowers fall, had lain alone in bed as he pondered over his future and the cost that came with bearing the weight of all his emotions. Hajime was only fourteen then – fourteen years old and yet so impossibly in love – when he made the decision in the small solace of his bedroom, sheets speckled with the dreamlike blue-violet petals of a kurinji.
And even now, four years later, his feelings remain unchanged. Here, hunched over in the passenger seat of Issei’s rented-out Toyota sedan, Hajime finds himself coming back to the same answer:
He does not want to lose Tooru.
He does not want to forget.
(Here, Hajime remembers: once, he was in love with his best friend.)

Summary
Osamu kisses him in the back alley of the memory shop when he gets off of work, lips soft and searching and aching with desire, the moment deepening underneath the brilliant rose of neon streetlights. His kisses are summer and taste like the rain.
It is everything Rintarou has ever dreamed of.

Summary
Takao will forget, in a matter of twenty-four hours, the meaning of his existence and the entirety of their world. He will forget, as it is his curse and anathema and the inevitable condition of his fate. He will forget, as his memory will vanish in the wrinkles of time. He will forget, as he is prone to doing so.
(But that's okay.)
Because Midorima will be there, always, and he will remember.

Summary
“You could’ve asked to meet another day.”
“I didn’t know.”
“Didn’t know what?”
“That I could do that.”
Hajime’s first instinct is to tell him that he’s being dramatic and stupid. But it’s been a decade since they were really friends—ostensibly enough time for homes to topple down and rise again as something foreign. So he doesn’t say that. He nods and snatches the alcohol and downs a few more shots. “Ask me a question.”

Bookmarker's Notes
Osamu is crushed, just a little, but he promises, “Next time.”
Kita-san doesn’t say anything until Osamu is back in his truck and he is watching him from his porch and they are watching each other; then, suddenly, he is walking, Osamu is rolling down his window, he is leaning in, and something soft and pliant is touching the shell of Osamu’s ear.
“Osamu,” he says, again with his nonchalant lilt, bored-sounding. Except, Osamu catches the smile tucked into the corner of his lips. Except, Kita-san isn’t telling him to run extra laps or stop fighting with Atsumu, he is saying, “If you don’t ask when you want something, how am I supposed to give it to you?”

Summary
Atsumu suffers through the D.T.R. (define-the-relationship) talk first with Komori and then with Sakusa.
__
“So you -” Komori pauses, eyeing first Sakusa and then Atsumu. Then he goes on, “You sleep together?”
“Yes,” Sakusa says, because sometimes he’s indifferent to the point of obliviousness, leaving Atsumu to stew in the shit alone.
“And you,” again, another stupid pause because Komori is an asshole, “don’t sleep with anyone else?”
“No,” Sakusa says.

“Okay,” Komori replies. “Okay. But why?”
“What do you mean ‘why’?” Sakusa asks, finally looking up from his plate. He’s polished off his piece of bruschetta and sits back, tugging Atsumu’s hand into his lap as he goes.
“I mean,” Komori says slowly, like they’re the idiots here, “why aren’t you seeing other people?”
“I hate people,” Sakusa says.
“What he said,” Atsumu says, shrugging, because it’s as good an answer as any.

Summary
Something about Kiyoomi’s boyfriend is off today.
Loving Atsumu means being fluent in the way he carries himself, the way his tone fluctuates, the scrunch of his eyebrows and the quirks of his lips; it means knowing all the ways he exists like the back of his own hand, so Kiyoomi recognizes the signs early on.

Bookmarker's Notes
"You don’t put your problems on me, you don’t- you don't make me carry them. You put them in front of me where we can both look at them and figure them out together. It isn’t burdening, it isn’t hard. Loving someone means helping them when things get tough, and I wouldn’t quit on you just because some days are harder to get by then others. Do you understand me? I’m not quitting on you and I never will. I love you and I’m here for you, whatever you need.”
“One day,” Atsumu hiccups as fresh tears flow down his cheeks, “one day, I’m gonna marry ya.”
