It was three am and the four moons of Coruscant glowed a dim blue in the sky. A cold breeze fluttered into Anakin’s quarters, the whirring of ships flying in the distance drifted through the screen window. The 501st had just come back from a month-long excursion to the outer rim. Finally sleeping in his own bed tonight Anakin sunk into his mattress, engulfing himself in his thick quilt and comforter.
He had stayed up late to finish paperwork until his eyes grew heavy. He showered quickly before crawling into bed and his hair was still damp against his pillow.
As he found himself drifting asleep, he heard a soft knock on his door. He paused, he didn’t want to get out of bed but he sensed through the bond that the knock came from his Padawan, Ahsoka. Lifting the covers off himself, Anakin paced towards his door.
There, as he sensed, in the doorway was his Padawan. The Togruta stood wrapped in her own blanket which trailed behind her on the temple floor. Her montrals covered by two little sock-like stockings. She didn’t say anything, instead she glanced up at him, a tired, yet lonely look glistened in her eyes.
“Snips,” Anakin kneels down to her level, putting his hands on her shoulders. A concerned look dawned on his face. “Is everything alright?”
“Yeah… I'm fine, I was just wondering if I could stay in your room tonight.”
“Of course,” He grabbed Ahsoka’ s hand and brought her into his room, with a flick of his hand the door closed behind them.
“Sorry if I woke you up, I just didn’t want to sleep in my room tonight… I know it’s our first night back at the Temple and you probably wanted some alone time but-”
Anakin cut her off, “Snips don’t worry about it, you're always allowed to stay with me,”
Ahsoka leapt onto Anakin's bed, still encompassed in her heavy blanket, “Thanks Ani.”
“Did you want anything to drink? I can make tea.”
“The recipe Obi Wan showed you?”
“Absolutely,” Anakin said with a gentle smile.
The Togruta squirmed over to the left side of Anakin’s bed, settling herself in under his covers and spreading her blanket on top of his, adding another layer to the fortress of pillows and blankets that Anakin slept in.
Anakin sauntered over to the bed and handed Ahsoka a steaming mug with Obi Wan’s special tea in it.
“Careful Snips, it’s hot.”
Without saying anything she grabbed the mug, holding it in the air with the force so she wouldn’t burn her hands.
Anakin climbed back into bed next to Ahsoka, sliding under the now three layers of covers.
“Want to watch something?”
“Yeah, you can choose, just not the podracing channel please. I want to sleep,” Ahsoka yawned after she took a careful sip of her tea. Anakin snorted. “Alright fine… no podracing.”
Anakin put on Gumball.
“Hey Ani?”
“Yeah?”
“Can Obi Wan come in here too?”
“I don’t know if he’s still up but sure… I can come comm him.”
Motioning with his hand, the comm link floated towards him. Pressing the button he tried to call Obi Wan.
“Anakin… It’s three thirty am, what’s going on?” Obi wan responded groggily.
“Well Ahsoka is staying with me tonight and she was wondering if you wanted to come over too.”
Obi Wan didn’t respond but the shuffling of blankets and the creak of a door opening echoed through the comm link.
“Alright, I’m on my way.”
Ahsoka grinned while sipping her tea again.
A few minutes passed and then Anakin’s door slowly opened and Obi Wan in his night-time tunic tiptoed in.
Ahsoka patted the empty space next to her and scooched closer to Anakin.
Obi Wan tucked himself next to Ahsoka who was now snuggled comfortably between Anakin and him. Her empty tea mug was placed on his nightstand.
Ani turned down the volume of their show as he noticed Ahsoka begin to fall asleep.
“Night’ Snips.” He gently kissed her Montral coverings, “And goodnight Master.”
“Goodnight to you both.” Obi Wan yanked the sheets over himself.
Because the council let them have the day off, the three of them slept till noon the next day. Ahsoka loved sleepovers in Anakin’s room. They always helped her sleep better and even though Anakin and Obi Wan didn’t want to admit it, they loved them too.
