Work Text:
“The scent of the sun at the peak of noon sets one’s heart at ease, the sense of calm after a long and arduous journey.” the white haired male hums, his voice smooth like honey and gentle as a falling leaf. He has his arms wrapped around a bundle under the maple patterned blanket, his bandaged hand weaving through golden silk like hair as a sense of content settles over him.
“Kazuha… it’s raining outside.” a sleepy voice mumbles under the cocoon of blankets and pillows held by the Inazuman.
“So it is.” A light chuckle escapes from Kazuha’s lips ringing out in the small and quiet living room, almost lulling the other back to sleep as the smaller male snuggled closer to the warmth that Kazuha emitted.
“But it’d be a waste not to share a line of poetry or two in such a calming scene. Don’t you agree, Sora?”
“I guess, but you were the one that wanted to take a nap in the first place. So who’d be the wasteful one then?” Aether sighed as he looked up from his shield of blankets and leaned his chin on Kazuha’s chest, feeling the rise and fall of it.
Kazuha only smiled at the golden eyed boy, his hand now moving the scattered strands of hair out of Aether’s face and tucks it behind the sleepy male’s ear. Aether practically purrs at the action and his scent slightly sweetens the room to which Kazuha inhales deeply, wanting nothing more than to keep Aether lying on top of his chest as they find comfort on Kazuha’s small couch.
He honestly didn’t want to buy another one if it meant he could hold Aether like this as much as he wanted to.
“Also, I don’t think you can really smell the sun, Kazuha. That’s a weird metaphor.” Aether says as he starts to let his eyes fall closed again, lulled by the actions of the alpha that held him so lovingly and gentle.
Kazuha could only pause as he looked at Aether, the smile on his face never leaving as hums in response. He supposes that it would be impossible to smell the sun for most, but he doesn’t believe it’d be out of reach for him.
“Perhaps to many, it may be very well so. However, not for me as the scent of the sun is always close by. In this very room and in my arms, right here and now.” His voice soft as he pulls Aether up a little, burying his nose in those golden strands that tickle his face. The alpha couldn’t help but grin as he hears the omega stifle a squeak, knowing that he had made Aether flustered with his words alone.
After all, Aether was always quick to pick up on his language in the literary arts.
“Kazuha, it’s really hard to fall back asleep if you keep flirting with me. And here I thought that the scent of maple wood in autumn would be as calm as the falling leaves and the changing colors.” Aether pouts to which Kazuha couldn’t help but pull back at this, unaware that Aether was making his own metaphor at him.
“I don’t believe that you can smell a season, Sora. Unless you’re talking about the scent on the wind of a changing season.” Kazuha ponders as it was Aether’s turn to chuckle at him. He always loved confusing Kazuha from time to time as that was always a rare occurrence.
“Oh, it’s in this very room if you ask me. The scent of the autumn breeze that accompanies me everywhere I go in this small little home, gentle and kind but leaves little trace behind.” Aether grins and Kazuha seemed taken aback at such bold words from the omega.
But that was always something he adored about Aether. Strong and vibrant as the sun, one that can clear away any dark clouds and a constant in the clear skies.
Almost a complete opposite to his ever fleeting presence in the lives of others.
“Are you perchance flirting with me now? Were you not the one that stated that flirting keeps you awake?”
Aether rolls his eyes at him as he nuzzles back against Kazuha’s chest, curling against the warm body that he laid against and basking in the calming pheromones that Kazuha constantly emitted. “Yeah, but seeing the look on your face right now is an image I want to dream of. So… night.”
“It’s noon.”
“And it’s also raining.”
Aether practically purrs at hearing Kazuha let out a soft laugh at that, hugging him tighter as he feels the blankets being pulled up again. Soft lips gently brush against the top of his head and make him shiver in a good way.
“Perhaps a bit more sleep would do us good.” Kazuha says, his voice trailing off as Aether’s breaths began to even out and soon enough, the white haired male started to drift off into a light slumber.
