Chapter Text
There was a small sigh from Tommy as he watched Ranboo help build the bordering walls of their new home. The blond was just taking a small break and waited until the enderhybrid stopped working and brought out his book before speaking.
"You know, you didn't need to come here." Tommy says, still kinda surprised and confused.
Ranboo tilted his head. "But I did." He says, tapping the somewhat older page he passed before. "They may not know it, but I wrote down how we both went and messed with that house, so if it's why you're here..." He went back to blank pages to write more notes.
They hung out for a bit before a voice rang out.
"Tommy~! I'm here to visit~!" The masked man's voice caused both teens to get on edge instantly. Ranboo's tail went stiff and straight. The energies that emitted from Dream were strong and horrifying. He doesn't like him despite barely knowing him.
"Oh... Ranboo's still here... That's fine." Dream says shrugging a bit as the teens look at him. "Tommy, come here."
Tommy was hesitant, but he went to where Dream was, who begins digging a hole. "Alright, your things. All of them. In the hole."
More hesitation from Tommy as Ranboo steps closer. The blond does as commanded though, and instantly Dream is placing TNT and backing up, bow and arrow ready.
"Woah, wait, Dream. Don't you think that's a bit much?" Ranboo says quickly, about the same time Tommy says "Hey, don't!"
Dream tilts his head, ignoring Tommy. He hums a bit as he readies his bow. "No, it's not."
The instant the words are out of his mouth, Dream releases the arrow and activates the TNT, destroying Tommy's items instantly. He almost ran into the hole, being held back lightly by Ranboo.
Dream just chuckles lightly at the blond's obvious despair. "Well, hope you have a good day. Unfortunately for you two I have other things to do today, so this visit’s being cut short.” And with that, he’s gone.
Ranboo hums as he pats Tommy's back reassuringly. He waits until Dream's out of sight before glancing at the blond, tail curved slightly in concern.
"Hey, maybe we could find a good cave to start getting you more?" As he says that he pulls out his own armor, as well as two iron picks, to get ready to start.
That comment brought hope to Tommy again, who nodded and took the pick. "Yeah, yeah! We can easily get back to where I was!"
They spent the day mining near Logshedshire, and Tommy got to a bit more advanced of goods than he did at the start. The blond went to bed, and Ranboo stayed up. He only needs sleep every three or so days, after all.
In that time by himself he went to work making more supplies and continuing the walls.
Tommy wakes up surprised on the changes. Ranboo was coming back from outside the walls, tail flicking lightly at the food he gathered. "Morning!" The enderhybrid put it into a chest before his tail stiffened again.
Dream's voice is heard shortly after. "Hello again. I see you two were busy."
Tommy just looked off and Ranboo shrugged, doing a great job to hide his fear. "Just wanting to finish up settling."
The masked man hums, not actually caring. "Regardless, Tommy, come here." He says right after making another hole. That made it clear to both teens what was coming. There wasn't hesitation from Tommy this time.
However, Ranboo wanted to try and reason with Dream, and to do that, he had to get reckless. He stood between Dream and the TNT, tail stiff the whole time.
"Ranboo, move."
"N-no. There's gotta be a solution besides this, Dream." The small stutter at the beginning of his words was the only sign of how he was nervous as far as overworlders could tell.
Dream tilted his head in a way that was almost childish, like he was processing the words as he hummed.
"Ranboo, that TNT is going off one way or another. Do you really want to get caught in its blast?"
That simple statement was enough to cause Ranboo's tail to go from stiff and alert to wrapped around his core. He looked the masked man over. He already had the bow pulled back completely and just needed to let go to get it hitting the TNT behind Ranboo assuming the enderhybrid gets out of the way in time. There was no doubt, Dream was serious. He moved away quickly, cursing under his breath in ender as he did so.
The second Ranboo had gotten out of the range the arrow was let flying. In an instant Tommy was back to nothing again.
"Well, anyway." Dream speaks as if nothing happened at all. "You have walls, but have either of you bothered with actual shelter?"
Ranboo's ears flicked in a unique way on the question. Actual shelter... "I guess we could make a cabin or something..."
"Nah, something quicker." He thinks a bit before getting some wool out and... Attempting to make something.
The two teens just stare at the creation before Tommy speaks up.
"What the fuck is that?" The words matching Ranboo's thoughts and the crassness of it caused a small, quiet chuckle from Ranboo.
A few insulted and flustered sounds leave Dream as he motions to the strange structure. "It's a tent! Can't you tell?"
That comment just made Tommy laugh hard. Ranboo steps towards the structure, still laughing quietly. It doesn't take him much time, being a natural with builds and decorating, but he fixes the tent so it's accurate. "There. That's better."
The adult of the group huffed, crossing his arms. He thought it was fine. He looks around a bit as Ranboo heads to the chest to put in the food he got. After a bit Dream speaks up again.
"Hey, Tommy, let's go gather material!" Tommy nods hesitantly after glancing at Ranboo. The enderhybrid takes a few steps forward when Dream puts his hand up to stop him. "No, just me and Tommy."
Ranboo's tail had laxed before, but it was stiff again. He glances at Tommy, a small curve entering his tail. But he nods. Not from trusting the two alone, but because he can't sneakily follow and stay in his earshot if they know.
He does stay close, staying in the shadows of the cave and listening to the two. It was... Surprisingly calm. They were almost friendly about it. Ranboo felt he needed to protect Tommy though. He wasn't sure why, but he just... Needed to.
By the sounds though, they really were just mining and talking. Tommy eventually made a quick joke, earning a laugh from Dream... And the enderman equivalent of a laugh from Ranboo, who was trying to hold back a true laugh. He covers his mouth, waiting to see if he outted himself.
"Holy shit I could get pearls!" Tommy shouted, clearly unaware that the sound came from Ranboo. The tall teen backed out quickly, deciding that's a good time to leave the mine.
