Work Text:

Despite the way the day had started, Ingo felt as though it was only going to go uphill. Sure, the subway for whatever reason was an absolute nightmare that day, with unruly passengers and even worse battlers. But, on top of it all, he had to stay late because Emmet had gotten sick.

Of course, he did not mind taking up an extra shift for his younger twin. Emmet would do the same at the drop of a hat! It was just- well, he was going to surprise you with a nice dinner that night. You had been working hard yourself, and even when you were sleepy or upset you never failed to smile just for him. Ingo’s heart fluttered a bit at the thought. And then, it hit him. A way to pay you back, even if only a small amount.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be the beautiful candlelight and rose date night he imagined, but Taco Bell was a close second, right? It had been a while since his last Crunchwrap Supreme, and he knew you enjoyed the Beef Chalupas.

Being a subway master had its quirks. As soon as the final bell whistled, he was off. The line was short at that time of night (right before closing. He pitied the employees but really was hungry) so it was a quick in and out, bag of food in one arm and your matching large Baja Blasts in a drink holder in the other.

You knew Ingo was going to be home late, that wasn’t an issue. Though, in hindsight, you felt a bit bad. Dinner was just some ramen, not even stovetop but Microwaved. Your boyfriend was so kind, he probably wouldn’t even complain… The sound of the front door caught your attention. Perking up, you offer him a smile before a gasp slips past your lips.

“I’m home!” Ingo greeted you loudly, raising the golden grails in his hands up. “And I brought dinner home tonight.”

This, truly, had to be what love was all about. Once the food was set down, you set to littering your boyfriend’s face with kisses. As soon as you felt he was adequately loved on, the two of you began your feast of gods. It may not have been all that special of a meal in concept, but the love was there; from Ingo, and The Bell™️.
