-Emeralds POV-
It’s nice to meet you! My name is emerald amd today is an average day as always. Waking up with a sore back with unnecessary bobas at the age of 43. Yes I’m old but not like i can do anything about it. For the past 10 years I’ve been taking care of my teenage children while my husband goes out to work on the weekdays. Yea i know my life isn’t very interesting.. but I’m at an age where this isn’t much i can do.
“Mom! Lily spilled milk on the floor!”
Not even 10 minutes into the day and there’s already something happening. I quickly cleaned it up and then started to cook breakfast as always. I don’t trust any of then with a stove. Soon my husband, Brandon was dressed and ready to go to work. Handing him his suitcase, i kissed him on the cheek.
“Before you leave, can you get the mail for me please?” I asked him, still trying to cook.
“Yea sure.” He answered, he grabbed the mail and threw it on the table. I don’t blame him, he is in a hurry after all.
Saguraka, my daughter, always checked the mail for me when i was busy, she quickly scrambled through it to see if there was anything that stood up, then she suddenly became shocked. Soon the other girls came surrounding the table, They were screaming in joy from what i heard.
“God, can you girls not scream, it’s hurting my already extremely old ears.” I said.
”How can we not scream? Mom, look! Look!” Lily smiled.
I decided to see what the commotion was all about and what i saw wasn’t very exciting. Saguraka was holding up what seemed to be an old styled envelope. It had a big red stamp in the middle with 2 lines forming an off center crossed. What could be so exciting about that? Who knew kids were into vintage stuff.
”You’re screaming at an envelope.” I said pissed.
”Not JUST any envelope! It’s an extremely important invitation!” Yui said.
”How would you know, you haven’t even opened it. Give me that!” I said snatching the envelope, i read it out loud as it says:
”Dear Emerald,
I’m one of the bosses that currently works at super smash bros inc. and i am pleased to say that we are interested in you working with us. There is currently an interview event happening on November 20th and we would like for you to come and try out. The base pay is $2,000 dollars a week with a bonus for the more you work.
Our Business is about fighting and includes battles and a chance of getting injured although we will pay you for your effort. You have a chance of showing up on the big stage and huge arenas. Meeting new and unique people and more. We understand if you are not ready for this kind of job but we hope you consider it.” At the botton was the location of where the interview was happening.
What.. HOLD UP! They invited me?! Someone who hasn’t a job in 3 years to come and fight?! Why even me? What the hell do i have compared to much stronger people. There’s no way this is a real.. the pay seems amazing! Is it.. too good to be true.
“This could be all a scam! I mean you can’t believe everything you read.” I said.
”But Mom! That’s a real company you can work at! I can even show you some of the fights that happened!” Atumura said.
”I can straight up die because of this job! It’s a no.”
”But think about it! You can finally go out for once! And father had been telling you forever that he wanted for you to get a job!” Lily said.
That was true, ever since i lost my job, my husband has been nagging me to do something outside the house. It’s not like I didn’t want go do something for myself. Hell, i missed going out and having some casual fun. Ugh.. i miss my school girl days. I was one of the most popular students in my school, but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. Enough rambling, i just didn’t want something like last time to happen… ugh.. last time. I don’t want to think about it anymore.
“I can’t do it! I don’t want another situation that’ll happen and forced me to get fired! It’s just too scary for me!” I cried, running to my room. I didn’t come out for a while and I felt bad.
6 PM (Still in Emeralds POV)
“Hey Emerald, you ok?” Brandon was knocking on my door.
”Go away!” I yelled.
“Open the door, i know what you’re crying about, we need to talk about it.” He said.
I opened the door, letting him in as we both sat together on my bed. He put an arm on my thigh and starting rubbing it.
”I think you should definitely take up the opportunity. You need to go outside and doing something for once.”
”What if something goes wrong- what if.. what if i die?!”
“You’re not gonna die, Trust me it wouldn’t be a job if they allowed death to happen casually.”
“Still.. thinking about how there’s so many people.. ugh.”
“Just try it, if you didn’t like if it’s alright.”
”i mean.. the pay is good..”
”exactly! You’re going to that interview and definitely getting that job!”
”yea! Yea! I am!” I stood proudly.
”i will become the best fighter there is!”
and hopefully not die.
