Chapter Text
"Ranboo, my man, my dude, um.."
"Don't even try it, Tubbo. What do you want?" Ranboo spoke up, interrupting Tubbo's poor attempt to lessen the tension.
He knows Tubbo too well. He already knew something was up, and he had no patience right now.
"Fine, have it your way." Tubbo sounded offended, but he was way past the point to care. He wanted to know what the hell that boy got himself into, again.
"So, you're good with potions right?" He asked after a few seconds of silence.
Potions? That doesn't sound good at all.
"Yes, why?" Ranboo replied uneasily.
"What would your reaction be if I told you Tommy and I found a random potion on the ground and he drank it?" Tubbo asked.
Ranboo stared at his wall, taking a deep breath in disbelief. As if sensing Ranboo's disbelief and disappointment, Tubbo let out a nervous laugh. "Tommy drank it, not me." After a few heart beats he quietly added. "I might have hyped him up.. might. But that's unimportant right now."
"Isn't it common knowledge not to drink or eat something that is unknown to you, unless you know it can't cause any harm?" Ranboo said, trying his best not to yell in frustration at how stupid his two friends are.
"Listen man I know you want to scold us right now, but Tommy really isn't feeling and looking well at the moment." Tubbo spoke hurriedly, genuinely sounding worried.
His anger momentarily disappeared when the blond was mentioned. Even though he wanted to tell them personally how stupid they are, his love for the blond won. He could do that another time. "Describe his symptoms." Ranboo dashed to his bedroom. He put his phone on speaker and dropped it on his bed to get dressed.
"Well, he can't stand on his own. He can still answer me when I ask him something, so he's still conscious, I think? It looks like he's having a real bad time though. Hold on, let me ask him how he's feeling."
While waiting Ranboo looked at himself in the mirror, contemplating whether to search his mask or go without it.
A faint, weak voice could be heard from the call, which probably was Tommy.
"He said he's dizzy. His head hurts like hell and he feels like he's gonna pass out any second now. We are at my place, by the way."
Screw that stupid mask. "I'll be there in 5 minutes max. Tell Tommy that everything's gonna be fine." Ranboo grabbed his phone, rushing to the door.
"Hell yeah, go save your boyfriend, lover boy!" Tubbo teased.
Ranboo let out a sigh. He was too worried to be annoyed right now. "Now's really not a good time for teasing, Tubs."
"Sorry! I couldn't help it." Tubbo chuckled. "See you in 5 minutes, Ran."
He ended the call.
Ranboo arrived at Tubbo's place in less than 5 minutes. He rang the doorbell, impatiently tapping his foot on the floor as he waited for Tubbo to let him in.
When his friend opened the door, he stormed past him without a warning and hastily looked around. "Where is he? Where is Tommy?"
"Wow, not even a 'hello'? Rude." Tubbo said, pretending to be offended to lighten the mood. Unfortunately, Ranboo was not in the mood for jokes. He turned around to give him a cold glare, until Tubbo finally gave in. "Geez! No need for that death glare, man!"
He followed the shorter boy to the living room.
There he was, sitting on the couch. His eyes were staring at something in the distance, almost as if he was in a completely different world.
"Oh, he looks even worse than before." The concern was evident in Tubbo's voice.
Ranboo kneeled down in front of Tommy, taking one of his hands gently in an attempt to bring him back to the present.
It worked. In a blink of an eye Tommy's eyes focused on him. "Tommy, are you okay?"
There was a weird emotion in his eyes that Ranboo couldn't decipher.
The blond weakly made grab motions with his free hand. "Boo, can you please sit down next to me? Please."
Ranboo backed away a little in shock, raising an eyebrow. He was taken aback by Tommy's weird request. Nonetheless, without complaining, he did what the blond wanted.
Not even a second later the blond intertwined their hands, leaning onto Ranboo's shoulder with a content sigh.
"He's so out of it." Tubbo mumbled.
Ranboo tried to ignore the growing blush on his cheeks, instead concentrating on trying to find out what exactly Tommy drank. "Tubbo, could you tell me what the potion looked like? Every single detail is important."
Tubbo's face scrunched up in thought. "The potion was bright pink. It looked really tasty."
Ranboo found it difficult to concentrate on what Tubbo was saying. Tommy kept on getting closer and closer.
"It smelled like sweet flowers."
At this point they were cuddling. Oh my god, Tommy was cuddling with him. His poor heart is beating so fast. What in the world did he drink?
"Now that I think about it, Tommy did mention that it tasted like raspberries."
Ranboo inhaled sharply, fighting off the heavy blush on his cheeks. He could sense that something funny was going on. Tommy was acting unusual. Of course Ranboo knows that deep inside Tommy's a big softie, but his pride would never allow him to display such kinds of affections.
"Oh, it was also glowing a little!"
Ranboo wasn't sure how much longer he could take this. Tommy was snuggling with him, and it looks like he wasn't going to let go anytime soon.
"Fun fact, once Tommy drank the potion he wouldn't stop whining about wanting to see you. You should have seen him. He was being so clingy."
His breath hitched, watching as Tommy shifted to get more comfortable. Their gazes met and his heart skipped a beat when Tommy flashed a soft smile at him. That's when he noticed it. His pupils had taken the shape of a heart.
It didn't take long for him to finally figure out what was going on. He stiffened, horror evident in his eyes.
He should have known. It was so obvious.
"Ranboo?"
The unusual behaviour, the sudden need of contact, the look in his eyes... it all made sense now.
He exhaled shakily, his gaze not leaving Tommy's. He was unable to look away, hypnotized by the emotion in the blond's eyes that he so desperately wished to be real.
"It was a love potion."
