Barbatos felt his eyes grow heavy from the day’s burdens weighing them down. His feet barely kept up with where his body needed to go. His thoughts were falling even further behind. As he made his way to the student council room, he smiled at seeing who was there. His exhaustion wasn’t as heavy.
The butler nodded his greetings towards the demon brothers and Lord Diavolo as he approached the unsuspecting human. Slowly, he encircled his arms around the human’s waist and nuzzled his face into Lance’s neck. His lips brushed up against Lance’s neck as he spoke, “I’m very glad you’re here.”
The human tensed and quickly turned his head to see who had grabbed him. Lance sputtered as his first turned a bright red. Lance looked at the other staring at them in shock. “B-Barbatos?!” Lance squeaked out.
Barbatos pried his eyes open. He frowned when Lance was looking at him with embarrassment and not adoration. His emerald eyes flickered to everyone gawking at him. He stiffened and quickly released Lance. “How long have you been in the Devildom?” he questioned, wondering just how fatal of a mistake he created.
“Just under a month,” Lance whispered.
Barbatos swallowed down his nerves. He made a very grave error in his exhaustion. It was still too early to do this sort of thing. “My apologies, I didn’t realize the time…”
“Time?” Lucifer questioned and furrowed his eyebrows. A firm frown set on his face.
“Please forget this happened,” Barbatos spoke quickly. “If you’ll excuse me.” He bowed and fled the hall.
“What was that about?” Lucifer questioned and crossed his arms over his chest.
Diavolo chuckled. “Lance was the main character of a story Barbatos once told me a long time ago. It’ll be fine, Lucifer. Relax.”
Lucifer scoffed. “I’m completely relaxed.”
Diavolo side-eyed his friend. “I can tell whenever someone lies to me.”
“Lucifer!” Asmo hollered and interrupted what would turn into bickering. “I think Lance died!”
“Oh good, he already likes Barbatos,” Diavolo chimed with a wide grin.
