Ever since UA highschool had to move into the dorms permanently, weekends had been hard for the students. Some parents lived hours away, traffic was always busy and since they got their licenses, they also had to do small rescue missions in between that. Most students went home anyway because they missed home or to have a change of scenery. Everyone in 1-A did! Well, not exactly everyone. Todoroki always stayed behind in the dorms. Everyone in class did notice and saw him become more lonely, but no one ever did anything about it. All up until Sero had enough of seeing him alone like that. He didn’t have the best homelife himself to begin with, so making the decision to not visit his family anymore and staying at UA was one easily made. His family however, did not like it. Not one bit… they contacted principal Nezu demanding for Sero to come home immediately or else there would be consequences. He decided to go home for one more weekend to hear them out but returned the Saturday late in the evening back in the dorms.
Todoroki got startled when he heard a door slam shut next to his dorm while he was reading in the newest manga chapter of a soft romance series. There was no way this wasn’t Sero, there hadn’t been a villain break in in months. He got up, put his manga away neatly on his bedside table and put on his slippers. Instead of going to Sero’s room directly, he decided to listen against the wall to hear if he maybe was on a phone call. He didn’t want to be rude, especially not to him… It took him a little while to realize what he was hearing but then it hit him: soft sniffles. Sero was crying and trying not to attract attention… without hesitation Todoroki basically sprinted into Sero’s room and hthere he was, sitting on the floor, face in between his knees trying not to cry too loudly. He didn’t even notice Todoroki coming in. He closed the door behind him softly and went up to the crying guy. He kneeled in front of him and slowly, softly as not to startle him, he took his face into his hands to look at him. Big pools of tears laid under his eyes and a big bruise on his eyebrow started to form. He looked so broken, so defeated that all Todoroki could do was shed a tear himself and take the slightly taller male in his arms. Not only did he cry because he saw his friend hurt, but also because this looked like a very similar family dynamic as his own. They sat like that for god knows how long, comforting each other in just the silence and each other’s presence. Then, still sniffling, Sero told Todoroki about what happened. His parents didn’t agree with him becoming a hero by the works of UA, him having friends outside of his hometown and especially him no longer wanting to be there for ‘holy ceremonies’ and such things. They had a heated argument that resulted in the bruise and then Sero ran away, straight to the dorms. Todoroki just sat there, listened and comforted the boy next to him. He was so different then he was on the field or with the bakusquad. He was more vulnerable, more open and somehow even more of a comfort person to Todoroki then ever before. Ever since that day, they vowed to spend every weekend together, to get to know each other and to be even closer than they were before.
‘yoo Roki! Ready for he big game day? I’m gonna beat you!’ Sero exuberantly said to Todoroki on Saturday morning. Todoroki just woke up from his very deep sleep with yet another dream about Sero. Ever since they started hanging out more and more, his feelings started to grow. First slowly, then more and more until now, full swing major crush on this dork. Something about his smile, his eyes, just his everything made Todoroki feel safe and swoon. Not that he ever did anything with it though, no he’s too shy for that.
‘in your dreams Sero, but first it’s breakfast and snack buying time. Your turn to pay this time remember?’ Todoroki replied, still a bit groggy. In his sleepy daze he added a small wink with it, to which Sero smiled and, was that a blush? No, Todoroki must’ve seen that wrong.
Sero and Todoroki went to the nearest store to pick up their essentials for their weekends together: food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, stuff they need for themselves and most of all a bunch of snacks each of them bring. They agreed to pay for everything biweekly so they never have to split bills. Denki jokingly called them an old married couple once which made Todoroki flustered. Sero covered for him though, thankfully. As they walk back to the dorms they talk a bit about their new internships, classes they need help with and other things. They never talked about that one evening where they both shared so much about their past anymore, that was the beginning, something to remember in silence.
‘want a snack? I’m craving something sweet!’ Sero asked, not really being a question but more of a suggestion. He paused the game and took place on Todoroki’s bed. The half red, half white followed suit and dumped all the snacks on the bed. There were cookies, popcorn, sour bears and pocky. After some thinking they both reached for the pocky, ending up pretty much holding hands. Both held their breath for a second, not knowing what to do until Todoroki took his hand away and stuttered that Sero could have it if he wanted to, getting flustered.
‘well, maybe uh, we could share? O-only if you want of course!’ Sero suggested, suddenly more shy then his usual cool guy self. Todoroki looked up into his dark, deep eyes with even more of a blush and just nodded.
The raven haired guy opened the package of the strawberry flavoured pocky and took one out. Todoroki reached for the box but was suprised when Sero pulled it away from him in a joking matter. So, Todooki reached closer but still, no success. Then, with more bravery then we thought he had, he took a bite from Sero’s pocky and ate it with a small chuckle, leaving sero flabbergasted for a second. Sero softly took Todoroki’s chin in his hand and guided him to the pocky once again. He kept him there and they slowly ate the pocky, getting closer and closer until their noses bumped clumsily and the pocky broke off. Not that they noticed, they were too focused on each other, feeling the warmth from each other’s faces and the short breaths they took. Sero still held him there, and moved his hand slowly to cup his face as he moved his face, brushing his nose against his as he leaned in to close the gap between the two of them. The kiss was soft, warm and everything Todoroki wished it to be. Just as Sero was about to pull away, Todoroki put his hand on the nape of the guy’s neck and kissed him back tenderly, but with confidence. The kiss lasted for what felt like forever, both caught up in it and wanting their moment to last for as long as possible. They finally drew back simultaneously and looked each other in the eyes. Sero was the first to loose his focus and let out a small sigh and giggle. All Todoroki could do was hug him and whisper in his ear that he wanted to do that for a very long time. Weekends in the dorms were never quite the same since then and they got together not long after.
