“You say the truck won't start, huh?” There was a pause and a shuffle on the other end. The sound of muffled voices could be heard.
A new voice surprised you for a moment. “Hey, I'm gonna grab my tools and give Sam a ride home. Then, I'll meet you and see if we can figure it out.”
“Seb really, I appreciate it but I have no idea what's wrong with it. I couldn't ask you to do that.” You pleaded with him.
You knew he could handle himself around any motor, he was a great mechanic. You just couldn't afford to fix it. Even if he did the work for free you couldn't afford to eat and pay for parts.
“Hey, did I ask you if I could fix it? No, I said let me see what I can do.” His voice was deep and stern. The authority embedded within shook your core. No one had ever demanded to help you like that before.
