Mischief and Mahō!

Summary:

So this is my very first original work, and wow... there's a lot to say. Um, so warning: this plot is going to be dark, despite being part of the magical girl genre, so be prepared. There is also a lot of Yuri hehe. Junko Yoroshima is a 17 year old girl who goes to Kireinahana (pretty flower) high school, with her best friend, 16 year old Hikari Suzukawa. While she seems sweet on the outside, she's actually a sadistic yandere who loves Hikari. With a question answered, a insane wish, and a bunch of yandere determination, Hikari's fate is sealed to become a magical girl with Junko. With multiple other friends and magical girls on the way, Hikari's normal life of being late to the bus everyday, hanging with Junko, and her perfect family with soon be torn apart. Will she be able to protect the people she cares about, and find where her relationship stands with Junko once and for all?

Chapter 1: The start of this crazy plot or, in which Hikari unknowingly digs herself a hole she can't get out of.

Chapter Text

Junko sighed while brushing her hair. It was 5:30 in the morning, since her school had insane ideas for what time it should start. Junko wasn’t the perfect description of a morning person, but she was much better than her best friend, Hikari Suzukawa. Hikari hated getting up in the morning. ‘I swear it’s like they’re trying to torture kids, but no one suspects them, since it’s a freakin’ school!’ Was one of her most common lines. Junko smiled to herself. Hikari was her best friend, forever and ever and ever… Junko finished making her favorite breakfast, uni omelet rice. Her mother had made this for her when she was younger… then she pulled her hair up in her signature twintails, her father always loved that style… Junko brushed away tears when she took a bit of her food. Her parents where in a better place now, she was sure of it. Junko quickly collected herself and put on her shoes. It was 6. Her school started at 6:30, so she had plenty of time to make the ten-minute walk to school. Junko lived by herself, ever since her parents sadly died when she was 10. Junko had inherited a good amount of money from them when they died and could live by herself since she was almost 18. She used to be very lonely after her best friend Sora Suzuki, moved away to travel the world. Her birthday was coming up soon, but Junko hadn’t heard a word from her in over 5 years. Anyway, it was time for her to start walking…
“Ahhhh!” Hikari wailed after staring at her clock. It was 6:15. She started brushing her long blonde hair frantically and put in her signature headband with a bow on it, she’d gotten it from her best friend Junko and had worn it ever since. ‘It was really sweet of her to get this for me’ she thought again for the millionth time. ‘She’s a super nice girl, and the best friend I could ever met!’ She bolted downstairs just to run into her younger brother, Asahi. “Geez watch where you’re going clutz!” He rolled his eyes.” You should have said something!” Hikari shot back. God, her 13-year-old brother was so annoying! Most of the time he acted as if he was older then her! ‘I guess it because he’s so popular at his middle school’, she thought. Most kids followed him around trying to talk to him. To them, he was super cool, and they felt embarrassed when messing up around him. To her, he was annoying little kid who still slept with his bunny, Tanpopo. “Ahh, I got distracted! “Hikari shouted, running to the kitchen. “Hikari dear, you know better to shout, your father needs his rest.” Her mother, Mio Suzukawa, chided her. I know, I’m sorry mom.” She replied. Her father, Jun Suzukawa, was a doctor, and a good one at that. People loved to see him, since somehow with his genuine concern for his patients and kindness, always seemed to cure people mysteriously. He was a great husband, and even more amazing father. Hikari couldn’t have asked for a better dad. Sadly though, he had caught a nasty cold from a patient, and had been in bed since yesterday. He would hopefully get better though! Her mother was a calm and gentle lady, and also the best mom ever. She was a therapist and loved helping people with their problems. If Hikari felt sad, she would always talk to her and make her cookies, something she had done ever since Hikari could remember. They were a great family really, even Asahi. Sometimes. “I’m gonna be late!” She grabbed a piece of toast a shoved it into her mouth. “Have a nice day dear.” Mio smiled while her daughter ran out the door, toast still in her mouth. She ran down to the bus stop just as the bus was leaving. “Please stop!” She hollered. The bus driver smiled at Hikari when she jumped up the stairs. “What’s the story today, Hikari?” He teased. “Oh Mr. Harumoto, you already know!” She pouted. “Your overslept again?” Hikari didn’t answer and went to sit down in an empty seat. The bus started pouring laughter all over Hikari ears, and she blushed. She knew that Mr. Harumoto meant well, and the kids weren’t really laughing at her in mean a way, but it was still embarrassing. Oh well, she’d see her best friend, Junko Yoroshima, soon enough…
“Ohayo Junko!” Hikari shouted running up to her friend in the hallway. “Ara, good morning to you to Hikari-chan~” Junko smiled. The pair walked to their first class together, which was Homeroom. The duo had their desks next to each other, since they worked well despite being friends. When they got there, a note was stuck onto Junko’s desk. Neither girl was surprised at all. Before even touching it, they knew who it was from. “God, why can’t Kumiko just leave me alone?” Junko moaned, frustrated. “Does someone have an admirer?” Hikari teased. “Don’t even joke about that.” Junko sighed. “I’m not sure what to do, she’s being such as pest to me.” Well, speak of the devil. The annoying yet adorable devil.” Hikari pointed. “What did you say, she’s not cute, you understand?” Junko snapped. “U-um y-our right, not cute, she looks pretty stupid in fact.” Hikari stammered. What got into her? ‘Oh well, it’s probably she’s really annoyed that Kumiko-chan keeps sending letters and follows her around.’ She reasoned.
“JUNKO-SENPAI!!!!!” Kumiko screamed, running up to the pair, turning them into a trio. “Oh my, It’s Kumiko.” Junko smiled, but even a 6-year-old could tell she was pissed. Kumiko however, couldn’t, and kept rambling on. “You look sooo cute in your school uniform!” “Arigato, Kumiko, but now it’s time for class.” Junko quickly replied, grabbing Hikari’s arm and walking back to her desk. Kumiko was about to follow, but then the teacher came in.
Class had passed by quickly, but to Hikari it seemed like forever before the bell rang. Mainly, because there was a new transfer student. “Class please welcome the new transfer student, Mai.”
“U-umm hello…. My name is Mai, and I’m pleased to meet you all!” I hope we can get along well this year!” She had short brown hair, and blue eyes. And her voice sounded so familiar, Hikari couldn’t place her finger on it though, oh well, it might come back later….
While at lunch, Hikari and Junko sat where they usually did, and talked about… magical girls. Hikari thought it was a very interesting topic. Well mainly, she thought, The Phoenix. Phoenix was the nickname she was called by anyway. The girl appeared whenever anyone was in critical danger and saved them. They called her Phoenix since she was such a bright shade of orange, you immediately knew it was her. Hikari couldn’t stop talking about her, and Junko seemed pretty interested to. “I wonder who she is!” Hikari exclaimed. “I’d rather know how she became a magical girl…” Junko mused. “R-really? Out of all questions I’ve heard, that’s not one of them. It’s usually, “Who is she!?” “Why did she decided to protect people!” and “Will she date me?”.” ‘” Well, maybe I think differentially.” Junko decided.
“Would you want to be a magical girl with me, if you got the chance?”
“U-umm…” The question caught the blonde off guard. “I-I mean there’s no way right? Like she might just be an alien or something haha…” “But um, sure if the opportunity ever surfaced…”
“Good, I’ll worked on it.” Junko smiled, and Hikari felt very weirded out. “Ok, whatever that means…”
The two continued to talk about other things, and soon Hikari forgot her confusedness, how could she know that this conversation, this answer, was going to change her life as she knew it, forever.
