Safe Place

Summary:

Anne and Sprig have a nice talk during their walk.

I’m going to miss this show— but that won’t stop me from making content. So have this fluffy story I made.

Based off one of my sketches from today.

Notes:

Yeah another Amphibia Furry AU story, and I have an example for what this looks like when he vibes on Anne’s head, but minus the Newtopian armour, tho! This is set during Season one.

Also my birthday is coming up! (June 16th :D)

Work Text:

Anne would be in her room as she put on her school hoodie from her world.

It was a nice and cool day as she and Sprig were just going on a walk, although her fur was thick enough for her to stay warm, she still felt more comforted with something at home before she got in this abnormal place.

Abnormal or not, she still loved staying here until she can find a way back home; she had a temporary home, food on the table, and a best friend who happened to be right outside the hatched door.

“Can you hurry it up?!” He would yell out at her through the wooden basement door. “I’m coming!” She said as she zipped it up, picking up her phone and putting it in her pocket, as she zoomed right up the stairs, opening the door as the pink frog moved out of the way, she would close it back whenever she finally got out.

“Sooo... Where are we-“ She had started with a pause — “What are you looking at..?” She would look at the small frog, who had a scarf around his neck.

The pink frog, staring at the tall figure above him, “I haven’t realized how fluffy you really are until now…” he had added, “Huh..” Anne had said as she tilted her head with a slight grin.

“Anyways, let’s go.” The canine had said, referring to whatever they were going to do that day.

“Oh! Right!” He exclaimed, “But first..”

“Hm?” Anne had questioned under her breath.

Sprig would happily smile as he walked behind the anthro, “What are you doing..?” Anne asked, looking back.

“Alley-oop!”

“Ow! Hey- What are you-“ she was interrupted as he hopped onto her shoulder’s, and sat on top of them as he laid his head onto her hair and put his hands down. “Watch my ears..!” She would add with a growl, “Sorry sorry!”

“Huh..” She said as she tried looking up at the small frog, “Why are you up there, anyway..?” She questioned him, walking through the door with a duck, slightly annoyed.

“I don’t know... I feel very safe up here.. it’s like a safe place, to me.” He answered.

“How come?” Anne asked another question as she closed the door behind them, moving her hand upwards to make sure he didn’t fall off.

“Well, first of all— you are like.. 3 times bigger than me, it feels like you can protect me.. well, probably because you have more strength than little ol me does..” He started, the auburn-haired girl would smile at the fact he felt comfortable with her, yet she was still slightly irritated.

“Secondly, you have your claws that can break through vines and such... oh, and your sharp teeth can help, they hurt.. and I know the feeling.” He exclaimed as he looked around, they were talking for quite a while that he hadn’t realized they were already near Wartwood, on the path in between the farm and the small town.

Anne had giggled but she would let out a yelp just as quick, “Ouch! I said watch the ears!!” She slightly shouted.

“Oops, sorry! Sorry!” He had apologized.

“You are a strange one, but in a good way.” She would say after she had calmed down, “Huh?” Sprig had already been distracted and was having fun rubbing her fur in between his fingers.

Anne would sigh, “Though you are an oddball,” she said as she looked down as she continued to walk through the entrance of the town. “I’m glad that you feel safer around me…”

“Hehehe!” Sprig would kick his legs in pure happiness.

They would spend the afternoon walking around the town and forest, even when it was a scary world out there. The two best friends were happy and felt safe with each other, and that’s all that matters.
