Slade stilled as he stepped into his current safe house. He wasn't alone, while that wasn't entirely outlandish he could hear two heart beats and only one was familiar. Closing the window silently behind him Slade walked toward the living room where he could hear the two heart beats. What he found in his living room almost had him turning back around to leave before he was noticed but apparently he wasn't going to get lucky.
"Slade, you're home."
He reached up to pull his mask off with a grunt. "I am." It actually took a moment for the large mercenary to bring himself to even ask about the situation he was looking at. "And why exactly are you standing in my living room with a newborn?" His eye traveled over Dick for a moment before snorting. "Don't try telling me it's mine either."
Dick looked stunned at that last statement before a blush started on his cheeks. "I wasn't going to do that. You're horrible sometimes you know that?"
"Only sometimes?" Slade gave him a once over again before stepping around him so he could get to the bedroom. "I must be improving or all that sex is giving you a better opinion of me."
"Seriously right now? I kind of need your help." Dick shifted around trying not to stand still as that only seemed to cause him trouble while he followed the man to his bedroom.
Slade stilled in the middle of taking his armor off and slowly turned toward him with a dark look in his eyes. "Wait, is that thing yours?"
"What? No, I mean-" Dick was looking anywhere but at the larger man. This was going to be something of a story and he was not looking forward to explaining it. "Kind of." Before he even really knew what was happening his back was pressed against the wall with a hand on his throat and an oddly calm deadly mercenary right in his personal space.
"What do you mean 'kind of'? You don't kind of make a baby, little bird." Aggression was leaking off the man in waves though his expression wasn't giving anything away which was probably worse. "I know you didn't carry it so where did it come from?"
"I didn't make him or have a part in it." Dick looked up at him with wide eyes. "I can explain but, maybe not while you're covered in blood?"
Slade let him go so he could go back to removing his armor. "Little bird you better have a damn good explanation for this. Why didn't you go to the Bat?" He set about cleaning off the blood on his armor though he would clean the guns later.
"He wouldn't understand and probably wouldn't help. Or he would just tell me that it's my problem and to take care of it." Dick watched him strip for a few moments before he had to turn away as the reason for all of the blood Slade was cleaning off his armor came to mind. "I'm going to wait in the living room." He quickly retreated to the nice living room to take a seat on one of the couches.

Slade stepped out of the shower and rolled his eye hearing small lungs howling like life itself was ending. That was one thing he had not missed from his own kids. Pulling on a pair of boxers he stepped into the living room with a frown.
Dick was pacing around the living room with the small bundle he had been carrying around held tightly to his chest looking more and more distressed as the small child wailed his little lungs out. It took a few laps around the coffee table for Dick to realize that he was there, at which point he quickly walked over to the older man. "Please help me. He wont sleep unless I'm constantly moving and if I stop he does this for hours."
"What makes you think I can help you?" Even as he was saying it Slade took the small squirming bundle from Dick with ease.
"Joe said you were good with them when he was small." Dick almost seemed to flutter around him seeming nervous about handing the small baby over.
Slade snorted though he easily pulled most of the blankets off the squirming child leaving him in just a onesie that had little bat symbols all over it. "Of course," he muttered as he stepped away from the smaller man. "How would Joseph even know, he's the youngest?" He gave Dick an odd look before turning his attention to the baby who seemed more interested in staring up at him rather than screaming his lungs out.
"I didn't really ask for details," Dick admitted, seeming fascinated by how quickly the baby seemed to calm down. "He seems to be correct though. The little one seems to like you." He had a small slightly distant look on his face.
"I'm not afraid of breaking him or trying to bake him in too many blankets." He shook his head at the smaller man before leaving him standing by the table to sit on the couch with what he could only guess was a few month old, if that, child.
Dick seemed to be a little lost as to what to do for a moment before sitting next to him on the couch so he could lean against Slade's side. "You look good with a baby in your arms. I'm not surprised that you have three kids."
"Dick," he growled in warning. "Why do you have a child when I haven't seen you in months?"
"You haven't seen me because you have been running around killing people apparently." Dick gave him an accusing look before glancing down at the baby. "That's something of a story actually. I was patrolling when I got grabbed by some old friends of ours." He snorted with indignation when he got an expectant look from Slade. "It was a small group of H.I.V.E. but they didn't seem to be of much note aside from the name. I decided to take them down anyways which is when I found him."
"A group of H.I.V.E. was still around and they had a baby?" Slade stared down at the child curiously, shifting him a bit to get a good look at the child. "Why did they have a baby? Did you take one of their kids?" He looked confused at the young man trying to figure out what had possessed him to take the baby.
"No he didn't share DNA with any of them, at least not any that were there." Dick paused for a moment before looking up at him. "He actually shares DNA with you." He didn't give Slade enough time to start arguing with him. "He's Grant's son, you're a grandfather." He smiled up at the man. "Surprise."
Slade stared down at the child for a moment before glancing over at Dick with a resigned look in his eye. "I don't have a choice in this do I?"
"Slade," Dick squaked indignantly. "He's your grandson, the last remnant that you have of your eldest. Would you really want to give that away?" He gave the large mercenary a large doe eyed look that had the man swearing softly.
"Fine. I don't think this is a good idea though." Slade looked down at the small child that was starting to doze in his arms with his arm hanging at his sides and his little legs just hanging free. "We'll have to get supplies, I don't have baby stuff. It's been a long time since my kids were this small."
"Wait, we?" Dick's features flickered through a few different expressions before finally settling on a smooth blank that he normally used for enemies he was trying to trick.
"Of course we. I expect the man I intend to mate to help with something like this." Slade reached down to grab Dick's jaw so he could pull him into a kiss.
"Mate?" Dick murmured softly.
"Surprise," Slade said softly as he pulled him in for another kiss.
