Summary:

Dino raised Saus so that he became a monster, but even monsters have a heart.

Work Text:

Despite the fact that Dino was the one who gave South a gun at an early age, he was also the one who said one deep-seated thought in South's soul.

"You can have many omegas, but love only one. And when you find the one, the others will cease to matter."

When South was younger, he was very interested in all this and the only one he talked about it with was Dino, according to whom, whose own "only one" was killed long before he met South, but he kept remembering her fragrance, smile and eyes. South liked the gentle look with which he spoke about his beloved Dino.

But when he was little, South always looked back at his mother. She was beautiful, despite a severe illness that took away a significant part of her life. The mother had a pleasant aroma of something sweet, as a child, South was not good at it, and Dino always said that it felt like alcohol. South's mother was an unlabeled omega. South didn't understand why his mother was lonely, because she was an excellent omega in all respects, and that's when Dino explained that there are omegas for love and to fuck them. South's mother was from the second category - so Dino said.

When South was a child, his mother was enough for him... when he became a man, having tried violence for the first time, he wanted a family... when, at the age of eleven, South had his first rut, which completely formed his fragrance — a combination of gasoline, wet brick walls and asphalt cooling after a hot day — South dreamed of a "only one omega"... when South killed Dino, he dreamed of being the first in Rio... when South's mother was killed, he no longer dreamed of anything.

At the age of fourteen, being on the verge of life and death, South got lost on the way. He was sent to another country, to complete strangers with completely different views on life and a complex language. Then South froze. It was as if he had become a wolf cornered by a bunch of hunters, he felt superfluous in Japan, and his attempts to remember the language his mother taught him as a child seemed flawed to him, and he was angry at himself, at his fate, at the people around him.

He was so annoyed that he couldn't even remember how to ask for water in Japanese. And the damn seller at the stall was afraid of his atypical appearance for a Japanese and continued to chatter incessantly, confusing the South only more, which made the irritation boil inside, along with the aroma spreading around with a predominant note of gasoline, from which everyone who has ever felt the pressure of the South was dizzy.

At that moment, a boy appeared next to him and pulled his sleeve, drawing attention to himself. As soon as Saus turned around, the boy retreated, probably afraid of the irritation reflected on the alpha's face.

— Is there... is there anything I can do to help? — South stared at the blue-eyed boy for a couple of seconds, and then took a deep breath. And he depicted a bottle of water so that the guy would understand him. — Mizu(¹)?

As soon as the word was uttered, the South remembered it at the same moment.

— Yes. — He nodded his thanks and returned his attention to the seller.

At that moment, when South was buying water, and the boy was standing next to him, waiting for his turn, the alpha did not yet know that fate had decided to bring them together.

The boy turned out to be an omega who hadn't introduced himself yet, only a year and a half younger than South himself, and his name was Takemichi.

Takemichi, like a star lit up in the night sky, finally helped Saus find his way, and also to get used to the language. When Takemichi found out that Saus was only a year and a half older, he didn't believe it, because he was already almost one hundred and ninety centimeters.

— You're huge! — Takemichi was indignant, standing up on his toes, trying to show the growth of South. — And you have a tattoo! You look quite grown-up, you will surely be allowed into the club without documents!

In two months of communication, South completely mastered oral speech and told Takemichi his story, missing the dirtiest details, because omega seemed to him too tender for all the shit that Saus himself went through. He liked Takemichi, he was naive and simple, kind, and he had such a soothing, still childish, aroma of milk and some kind of paper. The real flavor of Takemichi was not yet clear. But South wanted to protect Takemichi because he was constantly getting into trouble.

It seemed to South that not a day went by that Takemichi didn't quarrel with someone or even fight. But alpha even liked it, omega was brisk, brave and rebellious. And Takemichi was also unlike the people who surrounded Sausa before. There was no hatred, greed and greed in omega, there was no cruelty that South himself had encountered since early childhood. And next to Takemichi, South's dark thoughts disappeared, his head seemed to become light, and he liked it.

South didn't even aspire to return to the underworld, he no longer aspired to be at the top. South finally understood what Dino was telling him. Takemichi was his only omega. Even if not yet fully formed omega, but every day the aroma became clearer — a calm and pleasant aroma of old books with yellowed pages. There were a lot of them in his poor old apartment in Rio.

But everything changed one day, almost a year after they met.

That day destroyed the familiar life of South for the second time, and he remembered every moment of it. Everything that day pointed to the upcoming troubles, but the alpha stubbornly convinced himself that the premonitions did not mean anything. The weather didn't work out in the morning, Takemichi himself didn't feel important, he had a slight temperature, but, nevertheless, he still asked for a meeting with South after school.

Then they just spent time together, Takemichi, not paying attention to his poor health, dragged South with him, and alpha just enjoyed Takemichi's company, not paying attention to the sidelong glances of others in their direction. South understood that he looked much older next to omega than he really was, and others cared about it, but the teenagers themselves didn't care.

Already at the end of the walk, when the sun was setting, Takemichi became very ill, and he was going home as usual, not allowing himself to be escorted by Saus, because Takemichi's mother was against their friendship. She found alpha intimidating. That's why Terrano stayed sitting in the park, and only five minutes later, when he was finally going to return home, he noticed Takemichi's backpack next to the bench. South rushed after omega, wanting to return his things. Only now, two streets away from the place where they parted with omega, in a small corner between the houses, alpha encountered a picture from which darkness enveloped him.

An unknown alpha, holding his mouth with his palm, pinned Takemichi to the ground and, pulling off his pants, settled in behind him, ignoring omega's attempts to free himself. Alpha only reveled in the intoxicating aroma of estrus omega.

South himself did not understand how he grabbed the alpha by the head, he did not even think, there was a ringing in his head. Terrano easily pulled the alpha off the omega by the hair, as if he weighed nothing, looking into the face, but South's eyes were clouded, he could not even clearly make out the face. But his nose perfectly caught the excited aroma mixed with the horror of omega.

The face of the insignificant alpha turned into a bloody mess from just a couple of blows, but the inner darkness, the thirst for violence and blood that had been dormant in him until now, did not want to stop. So, as soon as the alpha, knocked out by the blows, was on the ground, South was over him, hammering his face into the skull, enjoying the smell of blood and spray flying in all directions.

South was stopped only by a tranquilizer released by a policeman who came to the call of one of the passers-by, who accidentally heard unpleasant sounds and smelled the aroma of fear and the omega in heat.

Terrano realized his mistake only the next day, when he came to his senses in the cell. The realization came as soon as he opened his eyes. But he didn't suffer because of the alpha's death, but only because Takemichi was there with him, in the same alley. And South killed a man in front of his eyes. South realized that he was initially stupid. He was hoping for something, completely forgetting who he really is. Someone like South is no match for someone like Takemichi. They seem to be from different worlds and should not even think of being with each other. South made a damn mistake when he let his heart choose Takemichi.

So, during the trial, when South was sitting in the cage, he did not raise his head, not wanting to accidentally cross eyes with omega. He did not look at the video from the surveillance cameras provided as an extenuating circumstance, because it was clearly visible there that omega became ill in the middle of the street, and alpha, seemingly all right and decent, in a suit and shoes, just dragged Takemichi into the alley, where South later found them.

If Takemichi himself had not testified in defense of South, confirming his words with a medical report, South would have sat down as an adult, for eight years. But, thanks to everything that happened in court, South received only five years in a juvenile colony with the possibility of early release.

Then, leaving the courtroom in handcuffs, he did not pay attention to Omega calling him by name. After all, crossing the threshold, South decided for himself that now he would be in the place where he should be. In the shade, away from the fragile and gentle Takemichi, because this is his life, not South.

Alpha was only capable of destruction, and he did not want to destroy omega's life, so he did not accept a single request for a date, did not read a single letter addressed to him. And, at the same time, he began to assemble his gang, because this is all that South knows how to do — it is determined by his fate.

And South would like to brag that he never even thought about Takemichi, but at least the alpha wanted to be honest with himself and admitted that he fantasized about Takemichi, fantasized about living with him. He remembered his scent and voice, he remembered how pleasant it was to touch his curly coal hair and how the light was refracted in eyes the color of the sky.

South sank deeper and deeper into the darkness, but, like a drowning man, he continued to grasp the image of Takemichi, carefully preserving it deep inside, only for himself.

And when he came out, two years earlier, ahead of schedule, people were already waiting for him on the doorstep, who were ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in his new gang.

From that moment on, he was completely plunged into darkness. South couldn't remember a day when there wasn't someone else's blood on his knuckles. South began to return to what he had run away from after saying goodbye to Rio. Even though the gang wars in Tokyo were not as fierce as in Brazil, nevertheless, it reminded him every day of who he really was.
Monster.

For almost half a year he raged, earning for himself the name "Incomparable". All this time he reveled in power and violence. He did not deny himself anything, and at night, standing at the bathroom mirror, he looked into his eyes and realized that he was seeing more and more similarities with Dino.

This tired look, in the depths of which there is loneliness. He never thought that one day he would be sitting on the riverbank at three in the morning and looking at the water, mentally imagining a pair of blue eyes, slightly squinted because of a wide smile.

And then, almost in the morning, with porridge in his head, he rides a bike, developing great speed along the deserted roads of Tokyo at such an early hour, only to stumble into the apartment of another blue-eyed omega and rudely take him right in the corridor, trying not to pay attention to the aroma of burnt sugar and orange penetrating into his nostrils. And then, barely straightening his clothes, he leaves with a brief goodbye. And he returns to his apartment, falling exhausted on the bed.

South didn't allow himself to look for Takemichi, he didn't even allow himself to find out what was going on with omega at all. Because he doesn't belong in the omega environment, they are too different. And, probably, that's why it was a huge shock for him to see such a familiar, bold look of blue eyes in front of him.

Ran, roughly twisting the guy, dragged him to the South resting on the base, which had just returned from another massacre. Then South froze, staring into the eyes of Takemichi with all his eyes, which seemed to be greedily studying South himself, covered with splashes of someone else's blood, while Ran, as if not noticing this, told with a smile on his lips: "This kid asked all about you and ran around like a dazed. He thinks that if omega, then everything is possible..."

Then Takemichi finally looked away from the alpha, still not daring to take his eyes off the roughly bleached hair and slightly tanned skin. Omega tried to pull away, and Ran, as if mocking his weakness, just let him go, walking away.

— South… — Takemichi turned to the alpha sitting on the sofa in front of him. — You left me! — Ran let out a short laugh, immediately covering his mouth with his palm, and sadness was reflected on the face of the grown-up and prettier omega. — All this time you've only been avoiding me! — Takemichi's eyes filled with tears, and a barely perceptible aroma of old books and ink, clearly muffled by suppressants, finally reached South's nose. Then South himself, without controlling himself, sucked in more air into his chest, trying to fill his lungs with this fragrance. Wanting to drown and dissolve in this fragrance. Without fully realizing it, he straightened up, not taking his attentive gaze away from Takemichi's sniffling nose. — Why haven't you ever sent me an answer?!

South just wanted to hug оmega to him and calm him down, ask for forgiveness. Just bury your nose in your hair and inhale its fragrance. To hold omega in your hands, feeling his weight, proving that all this is not a dream and not a mirage. At that moment, all thoughts of wrongness simply left his head.

— I… — As soon as South opened his mouth, pain burned his cheek at the same moment, and the sound of a slap resounded through the empty club. Even Ran, standing behind omega, slightly moved away. Then South turned back to face Takemichi, tears streaming down his face. — More… — He said, looking exactly at omega, and at the same moment pain burned his other cheek, forcing him to turn his head, and Takemichi sobbed loudly. South returned his gaze to оmega. — More! — Another slap in the face, followed by another and another, until Ran, clearly afraid for the omega's life, caught the one sobbing in three streams by the wrist.

— South, that's enough! — But as soon as the Wound did this, South immediately jumped to his feet, hovering over him and baring his teeth, making a low rumble, forcing the alpha's legs to buckle under the squall of the fragrance that fell on him.

— Don't you dare touch him. — South growled, causing alpha's fingers to immediately unclench, allowing omega to pull his hand out. He turned back to Takemichi, who seemed to have recovered from his tantrum. — More. — South repeated, bending down to оmega, but he only shook his head, wiping away tears with his palm.

— Why did you leave me? — Raising his head, Takemichi asked. And South, shaking his head, returned the fragrance to normal and dropped the grin from his face. — Why did you decide to leave me? Back in court, you didn't even raise your head! Didn't look at me! What's wrong?!

South sighed, straightening up, he looked around, noticing several onlookers on the second floor and Ran, who had moved away from them at a decent distance.

— Get the fuck out of here! Now! — He watched as the people quickly went about their business, and returned his gaze to Ran. — You too, fuck off!

It was only when everyone had dispersed that South returned his gaze to Takemichi, who was waiting for his answer. The hand reached out to him, wanted to touch him, but South froze, not even allowing himself to touch omega.

— South, why?

— What do you think? We're from different worlds. I'm a monster, do you understand that?

— You were protecting me then! You protected! — Takemichi took a step, coming almost close to the alpha.

— That's not the point! Do you think I've told you everything about myself? You don't know a damn thing! I've killed before, before I came to Tokyo! — South took a step back, leaning towards оmega to say almost to his face. — I'm murderer. — He stood up straight again and walked away, turning his back to оmega. — Go away, Takemichi, just go away. You don't belong next to me, you're from another world.

— From what other? We live in the same world, South, and this world is cruel and merciless to everyone!

— Not. — South didn't even turn to Takemichi, shaking his head negatively. — Your place is not here, not among criminals and murderers.

— South... then, at thirteen, a married alpha with a successful career tried to fuck me. — South tensed, clenching his teeth until it hurt. — And you came to my rescue. — South didn't answer, he didn't move even when he heard Takemichi coming towards him. — I've been looking for you all this time, I wanted to thank you, and also… — Takemichi pressed himself against South's back, wrapping his arms around him. — I love you.

South froze, at that moment a thousand thoughts seemed to rush through his head in an instant. He didn't know what to say to оmega. Because at one moment, it seems, something happened that simply could not have happened.

He wanted to turn around and hug оmega to himself, but at the same time he was fighting the urge to push him away and say that he was wrong, so that he would just go back to his home and not come back and hurt South himself, he was already ready to turn around with a clear intention to say this, as Takemichi spoke again.

— Don't push me away again… — South pursed his lips. — I can't live without you.

South has always considered himself strong, but it seems that it was at this moment, when he heard a break in Takemichi's voice, that South realized that he was too weak in front of him. Too weak in front of himself.

At that moment, he could not show his resilience, could not refuse Takemichi and just went along with fate. Turning to omega, he leaned towards him and did what he had secretly dreamed of for several years in a row. Joining their lips, allowing himself to squeeze Takemichi's seemingly very fragile body in his arms.

At that moment, he allowed himself to forget himself, forget who he is, forget the promise he made to himself and just enjoy the aroma of Takemichi, enjoy his lips, just the fact that he is near.

Later, he will start to worry, try to talk to Takemichi again, dissuade him, prove that he should not be with him. But Takemichi will always stand his ground, he seems to cling to South like a tick, not going to let go. And, at some point, South will give up, just going with the flow.

With a delightful feeling of lightness in his soul, once again being next to Takemichi, South finally came to life. I began to breathe deeply.

At the very beginning, everything was very awkward and this was the first time for South — to be embarrassed by little things, light kisses, wishes for victory. But all this kindled a fire inside him. He fought with a burning heart, knowing that he would return to Takemichi, and he would be waiting for him.

Even Takemichi's mother thawed to him after a while. And everyone in the gang knew that Takemichi could not be approached. South has finally fulfilled his dream — to have a single, beloved omega.

South crept up from behind, placing his palms on Takemichi's waist, and, with bliss, burying his nose in the curls of coal hair, inhaled the aroma of omega.

— Minami… — Takemichi moved his shoulder, continuing to pour boiling water over the turk
— Bom dia, amor(²)— South spoke in a voice hoarse from sleep, causing goosebumps to run down his back and settle with a weight in Takemichi's lower abdomen. And then, still squeezing Takemichi's waist, he began to shake his hips, imitating a dance.

— The coffee will boil over… — Takemichi growled, to which he received only a chuckle from South. — Minami…

— One dance... come on… — South pulled back and turned on the tape recorder, from the speakers of which rhythmic sounds with a distinct Brazilian motif immediately began to be heard. — Dança Comigo, Takemichi(³)

Takemichi looked at the outstretched hand, then at the coffee cup, and sighed, putting his palm in, immediately being pulled into an embrace. He, too, began to move to the beat of the melody, swaying his hips. They were circling around the small kitchen, Takemichi wearing only a South T-shirt and an engagement ring, and alpha in pajama pants with the same ring on his finger.

Takemichi liked it. He watched the smiling alpha holding his hands, helping him twist and cuddle, and Takemichi had fun. He laughed, he was happy to start like this every morning. He was glad that then, after three and a half years of separation, he was able to find South.

And then, on his eighteenth birthday, South finally put a mark on him, and two years later they signed. And even though Takemichi's husband was the head of one of Tokyo's most famous gangs, that didn't stop him from loving alpha.

South abruptly lifted him off the ground, and Takemichi reflexively wrapped his legs around his waist, resting his palms on his shoulders.

— Você está divina(⁴)! — South love for the Portuguese language did not prevent Takemichi from understanding him at all, he learned a lot during their life together and never regretted it, because the language was as passionate as dancing, which, as it turned out, the alpha liked madly. — Our coffee has boiled away…

— You make the new coffee. — Takemichi bent down to take the alpha's face in his hands and kiss her husband, but just before the kiss he said. — Eu te amo(5).
