Work Text:
There was no doubt about it. Yue was sick. When she woke up that morning with a headache she thought nothing of it. But around lunch her sniffles developed. She decided to go to her last lecture of the day and then make it to her friend Suki’s rock climbing practice.
After her lecture that felt ten times longer because of her cold she pulled out her phone. She pulled up Suki’s contact.
Hey Suki. I’m sorry but I don’t think I can make it to your practice today. Im feeling sick :( maybe we can try another day?
Yue then sighed and then hopped on the bus to get back to her apartment. Once she finally got home, she dropped her bag on the table and got into bed. Her eyes closed and she immediately fell asleep.
…
Suki was putting on her climbing shoes when she got Yue’s text. She decided to skip practice and go help Yue.
Suki walked to the corner store that was near her climbing gym. She picked out soup broth and some other cold remedies. She then got on the bus to Yue’s apartment.
When she got to Yue’s apartment, she picked up the extra key that hid in the moon shaped wind chime out side of the door. She went inside and set her backpack and the groceries down next to Yue’s bag.
Suki quietly opened Yue’s bedroom door to see if she was alright. She saw Yue sleeping with her face squished on her arm. Suki decided to make the soup she brought before she bothered her friend.
When finished, the soup wasn’t gourmet by any means, but Suki didn’t think Yue would mind. She poured the soup into two bowls and placed them on the counter.
She opened the door and gently sat on Yue’s bed. Her face was still squished. adorable, Suki thought. She placed her hand on her friend shoulder and slowly woke her up.
“Hey Yue. I got your text and I came over to help.”
“Mmmm thanks Suki.” Yue said groggily
“I made you some soup. Lets go to the table and sit down, ok?”
“Mmokay”
The girls sat at the table. Yue slowly sipped her soup as Suki watched her from across the table. “M cold” Yue said quietly. Suki hopped up and got her jacket from her backpack and put it around Yue’s shoulders. “Better?” “Mmhmm”
The soup slowly disappeared from Yue’s bowl. Suki took their dishes and put them in the sink.
“Yue do you want to go change into comfy clothes while I clean up in here?”
“Yeah, thank you for the soup Suki.”
She went to go change and Suki finished the dishes. She made some tea to soothe the cold. Suki knocked on the bedroom door, “Are you changed, Yue?” “Yes you can come in”
The door opened and Yue was in comfy pajama pants and an oversized sweatshirt. SHe was sitting on the bed and had her covers over her. Suki walked over to the nightstand and put the tea on a coaster. “Here, Yue. I made you some tea to help with your cold.” “You’re the best”
Suki sat on the edge of the bed while Yue sipped her tea.
“Thank you so much for all of this. I’ve never had someone care for me like this before” said Yue gently.
“Oh. Um you’re welcome Yue.”
Yue took a sip of her tea. “Im still a little cold, Suki”
“Oh here I can go get my jacket again”
“No, no thanks I mean can you sit closer to me?” Yue asked, patting the spot next to her.
“Oh- um- yeah, I- okay”
Suki slid next to Yue and slipped under the covers with her. Yue wrapped her arms around Suki’s waist and rested her head on her shoulder. “You’re so warm, Suki”.
They stayed like that until Yue was fast asleep. Suki gently moved Yue down onto her pillow. She looked at her sleeping face and smiled. She laid down beside Yue and her her until they were peacefully asleep together.
