McFist's Legacy

Summary:

the story of how Mcfist made his legacy following in his father's footsteps

Work Text:

As a child, Hannibal had been warned by his father that he should be careful with the mats in the production of McSquiddles, as he could lose an arm.

McFist Industries were the biggest in town, there wasn't a single citizen who didn't know their brand. Legally, they should be passed to the name of Terry McFist, as he was the eldest son, but he was a guy who was not interested in the family business, preferring the peace of the countryside, so he made an agreement with his younger brother to pass to his name, a contract that had to be renewed every year.

Hannibal was very proud of the empire his father had created, so he followed suit, creating McSquiddles in flavors other than meat.

All was going well in his business life, until the day one of the conveyors stopped. He didn't think it was a problem to take a closer look, he didn't have the patience to wait for a technician to arrive, and it was the beginning of a tragedy.

A few flashes of memory were all that were left of the day of the accident, his arm getting stuck as the treadmill started moving again, his screams of pain for help.

He was admitted to the hospital, he had money to pay for the best treatment possible, but nothing that would bring back what he had lost. Terry went to visit him whenever he could:

"Brother..." he spoke a little awkwardly, "you need to rest..."

“If you've come to ask me to quit the company, forget it." Hannibal replied angrily.

"Calm down, I didn't come here to fight." He took a deep breath "I'm just worried about you. You suffered a horrible trauma and even then you only thinks about business... When will you think about yourself more?"

"If you're done with the nonsense you have to say, you can leave."

“I know you're not mad at me, Hannibal. Dad also lost an arm in a similar accident... No one is blaming you for..."

"Exactly!" he complained. “Dad lost his arm and continued his legacy with an iron fist! I will do the same!"

"Brother..."

Terry knew it was useless, Hannibal was too stubborn to understand his current situation.

McFist ordered a mechanical arm for himself, he wanted the best scientist to create it. He turned to MSU, Mad Scientist University, demanding that the valedictorian build it. With Jerry Driscoll arrested, the job was passed to Willem Viceroy III, who was second best.

He was an egocentric man, but a genius. He knew that making that arm for the owner of McFist Industries would guarantee him a name recognized throughout the city, and that was the beginning of their partnership. Its creation went beyond a simple mechanical prosthesis, it had a brain, its own intelligence and personality, and yet Hannibal could move it however he wanted, an extension of his body. His genius was so acclaimed that he was eventually hired by McFist, who gave him the freedom to create his inventions, expanding his empire in the city.

Hannibal met a beautiful woman named Marci, who ran the Norrisville daycare. She had a young son named Bash, a somewhat troubled boy, but very spoiled by his mother. At a very young age, he no longer had his father present in his life, a subject that Marci always avoided, not making it clear whether she was a widow or just divorced. She was enchanted by the man with the arm wrestling, it didn't take long for her to accept him in her life. He also went out of his way to please his stepson, as he knew it would make her very happy. Viceroy also ended up becoming a "member of the family", a good friend of Marci and her mother, helping Hannibal remember anniversaries and coming up with fantastic gifts, as well as doing projects for Bash to pass in science at school.

McFist was a complete man, rich and powerful, in complete control of the city, loved by all, married to a lovely woman.

That's when the Sorcerer came into his life, offering him a deal: if he would help him destroy the Ninja, freeing him from his 800-year prison, he would give Hannibal any superpower he wanted. For a man who had everything, that proposal was really interesting, because he couldn't get that with his money. He asked the Viceroy for help, awakened the mad scientist who inhabited him, then came up with a thousand inventions in order to capture the Ninja.

Marci supported him, it was no secret to her that her husband wanted to destroy the Ninja, in fact, she even found him charming with his evil plans for global domination.

There were many attempts, all failures, the Ninja could not be defeated, no matter what he tried, no Viceroy machine or monster sent by the Sorcerer was able to win, that increased his anger, but in front of the citizens of Norrisville he needed to maintain the image of good man.

Yeah, the Ninja was his only hindrance to the life he always dreamed of, since the loss of his arm nothing had bothered him as much as a mere 800 year old masked boy (because no one knows that every four years a new warrior is chosen).

It was the McSquiddles' birthday that he almost lost everything. The Ninja exposed him to the city as a villain, which caused the population to boycott his industries, causing him to lose billions. When he was ruined, the Sorcerer saw the opportunity to create a powerful monster, taking advantage of his pain.

He no longer had control over himself, all he wanted was to destroy the Ninja and make him pay for everything. He wasn't aware of the damage he was doing, the Sorcerer's magic knocked him out of his mind. When Ninja made him eat McSquiddles meat-flavored, the first flavor created by his father, he was reminded of when he was a kid and still learning about the business: "As long as people love McSquiddles, they'll love McFist Industries." That memory made him return to what he was, he knew that before any evil goal, his highest priority was to continue his father's legacy. Awakened stunned, the Ninja publicly apologized to him for accusing him of being "evil", and on top of that helped to fix his image, making him promise that he would give McPads for free to everyone present.

Many clashes followed, several defeats against the Ninja, until the day the Sorcerer left.

At first, it was a shock to think that his alliance no longer existed, he could no longer gain a super power, but on the other hand, he had the feeling of freedom of those who no longer had a "boss" to command, could dedicate themselves to their city, its companies, and Viceroy would remain by his side so that his legacy would continue for a long time.
