   Summary

   “You’re not there, Eliot.” A whispered voice reaches him. He almost thinks he imagined it, but then something presses against his hand and when he looks, it’s Parker’s sneaker.

   “You’re here with me. We’re on our way to Sophie, remember? Stay with me, Eliot.”

   Eliot’s eyes leave her sneaker and see her looking at him upside down through the small space under her arm. Her eyebrows are pinched, but she does her best to offer him a smile.

   “Stay with me.”

   He nods, swallowing down the apologies swelling in his throat, and crawls after her.
