Work Text:

“Sorry sweetie, Daddy has a very important meeting, don’t you have some friends you can play with?”

“Oh darling, mommy is very stressed out, she needs to do a little shopping and have some brunch with the girls, don’t you have any girl friends to do some… tea parties with? Play with dolls? I know your grandmother bought you that cute vintage doll last Christmas.”

Andrea sighed, it was the weekend. No school, no homework, nothing. It was the perfect opportunity to have some pleasant one on one time with her parents. Just father, mother, and daughter spending some quality family time going out, eating, playing board games, or whatever the heck families did on TV. She wouldn’t know.

Andrea’s parents never really seemed to get her, she thinks they might’ve forgotten how old she was. Way too old for tea parties or dolls. In fact, the doll her grandmother had gotten her was not from last Christmas, but in fact several Christmas’ ago when she was five, long forgotten in the back of her closet, never being played with for years.

As Andrea looked through her phone, absently walking out her front door and scrolling through her various social media accounts, she briefly thought about live streaming, putting up a fake smile, a fake story of oh how great her life is.

Look at me, aren’t I so pretty and popular and everyone loves me!

Keep clicking those likes and hearts, Fandreas!

Never mind that I’m only happy when you're looking at me.

She was the “it” girl in school. Everyone loved her. (Or at least, said they did). She was the richest student there, showing off her professionally dyed hair, her makeup, and her designer clothes that the latest celebrities showed off on TV. She knew this. She had no problem whatsoever mingling with all her school mates.

Though the thing was, when school ended she was all alone. She could always try live streaming or join the baseball team for the “cute uniforms”, but when everything is all done and over, all the other kids would go off in their own directions. Not even mom or dad would bother to look at her.

Yeah, it was kind of lonely.

Still walking, Andrea decided she would go into town, maybe something fun will happen, Brighton always seems to have some commotion or another going on.

And speaking of “fun”, Andrea couldn’t help but think of Molly McGee. Ugh.

Ever since Molly moved into town, she’s noticed how utterly preppy, happy, loud… annoying Molly could be. She snorted. Must be nice to have such a happy-go-lucky life.

But even though Andrea can’t help but hate Molly just a little bit, she would admit, even if just in her head, that she actually liked Molly a bit more than she hated her.

As Andrea rounded a street corner, putting her phone in her jacket pocket, she couldn’t help but laugh at what she was currently looking at, thinking this must be fate.

Speak of the Devil and she will arrive.

Andrea stared curiously, looking at Molly grabbing some old guy’s collar, eyes narrowed like she was going to start a fight. Molly then turned her head and looked at Andrea straight in the eyes, a surprised look on her face, but then…

She’s… smiling at me?

“Andrea! Great to see you! Hey, are you busy? Wanna hang out? Come on, let’s do something fun! It’s the weekend after all.”

In a flash, Molly rushed over to Andrea’s side, her arms looped around one of hers, quickly walking and making sure Andrea kept up the pace. Andrea’s face turned red, Molly was too close to her, her whole body seemed way too warm, like she needed to take her jacket off and take an ice cold shower.

“Knock it off McGee!” Andrea screamed as she broke contact, her whole arm seemed to be burning, “I don’t have time for you, don’t you have anything better to do!?”

“Hahaha, yeah you’re right Andrea, I shouldn’t have bothered you. Sorry! I’ll go now!” Molly laughed nervously, awkwardly turning her back to Andrea and speed walking away.

….

WHAT?

If Andrea was mad before, she was beyond angry now. First, McGee wants to so desperately hang out and now she’s abandoning her?? In her rational mind, she thinks that there’s no reason at all to hang out with Molly McGee today, on the other hand…

Andrea quickly runs up to Molly, facing her, eyes boring into her soul. She hears an audible “gulp” from the girl.

Good.

“Listen here McGee, and listen well,” Andrea puts her hands on her hips and starts slowly edging towards Molly, “You said you wanted to hang out with me and I don’t like liars, so we’re going to hang out. Is that a yes?

Andrea is now glaring daggers at Molly and the brown haired girl starts to sweat rapidly, hands gripping on her skirt.

“Y-yes.”

Andrea smiles, “Good. How about we get something to drink? There’s a cute little coffee shop around here, you’ll love it. Now follow me, yes?”

“Yes,” Molly sighs dejectedly, not that Andrea cares, and she grabs Andrea’s hand, tugging her down the street, “I know where the shop you’re talking about is, I’ll take us there.”

At the coffee shop, Andrea feels a little bit better. She didn’t really have any plans today and she’s happy, not that she would admit it, that she can share this moment with Molly. Andrea has only ever come here alone so it’s nice to have a coffee with someone else.

When they get their coffees, Andrea can’t help but gag at the concoction that Molly had just ordered. “What the heck is that made of? 90% sugar?” Molly fervently sucks in her drink, “It’s good! I looove my drinks as sugary as possible!” “Ugh, do you want diabetes?”

As Andrea takes several sips of her latte, she can’t help but think that she doesn’t know what to say. She’s never hung out with someone outside school, much less someone like Molly McGee.

She gets surprised when Molly burps and throws away her finished beverage, “Wow, that was really good, buuut I’m gonna go now, it was fun hanging out! Bye!”

Andrea’s face turns bright red with anger. What, is she so unlikable that not even Molly McGee, who wants to be friends with everyone, doesn't want to hang out with her!? Andrea quickly grabs Molly’s wrist before she can head out the door, her unfinished latte now abandoned and forgotten.

“Oh no you don’t, McGee. We’re not done here. In fact, I want both of us to hang out at my place.” Andrea’s grip on Molly’s wrist tightens and she leans in close to the other girl, “Is that a yes?”

Molly lets out a little gasp but then lowers her head and starts to sigh, “Yes, I’ll go.”

Andrea smirks, she doesn’t know why McGee is so compliant today but she won’t question it. Her tight grip on Molly’s wrist goes down into a soft hold onto Molly’s hand.

“Well, you know where my house is McGee, lead the way.”

They arrive at her front door and step inside, Andrea smiling with pride when Molly looks around her house awe struck, “I know. It’s great isn’t it?”

It is then that Andrea starts to have fun with poor old Molly McGee. She doesn’t know why Molly looks at her, her smile twitching as she does whatever Andrea tells her to do, but she soon puts those thoughts behind. It’s actually incredibly fun to have Molly McGee at her every beck and call.

“Oh Molly, can you get some snacks from the kitchen?”

“Molly, can you get all this stuff down from the top of my closet?”

“Molly, can you turn on the TV?”

“Molly, can you pretty please organize my clothes? My room’s a mess.”

Molly’s eyes twitch and she grits her teeth as she does everything she’s told. Andrea can’t help but be sad when the day will eventually end.

“Hey, listen Andrea,” Molly sits next to the blue haired girl on her bed, wringing her hands, “it’s gonna get late soon, and my parent’s will probably be worried soooo-”

Before Molly can finish her statement, none other than Maxwell Davenport comes into Andrea’s room, smoothing back his hair and a fresh white smile on his face. Andrea lights up and takes off from her bed to hug her father, “Daddy! What are you doing here?”

“Listen here princess, Daddy managed to get some extra money from the store, so I’m planning to go on a vacation to Hawaii!” Andrea squealed, jumping up and down,”Oh daddy, I’m so happy! When are we going? When should I pack?”

As the father and daughter duo start talking excessively at each other, Molly can’t help but roll her eyes as she watches from the bed. Must be nice to have everything you ever want and to just go on vacation out of the blue.

The excitement is cut short though as Maxwell puts his hands on his daughter’s shoulders, keeping her from jumping with joy, “Now now sweetheart, I’m sorry to say but this vacation is just for your mother and me. We can’t have you missing school, can’t we?”

Andrea’s smile quickly falters and her body goes limp. Molly can’t help but frown at Maxwell’s statement.

“B-but-” “Now, no buts princess. Don’t worry, I’ll hire some help to look after you in the month your mother and I are gone.”

“A month!?” Andrea’s voice sounds cracked and withered, it breaks Molly’s heart, “C-can’t you just postpone the vacation until we can all go?”

“I’m sorry princess, but your mother and I need some alone time together, you understand right?” Maxwell pats Andrea’s head as she hangs it low, looking at her carpet floor while she makes out a slow quiet, “Yes.”

“That’s my good girl, I knew you’d understand.” With that, Maxwell closes the door and makes his exit, never even noticing the other girl in his only daughter’s room.

Molly stares dumbfounded as Andrea goes down on her bedroom floor, arms hugging her legs, head on her knees, crying softly. The brown haired girl can’t help but notice that she now knows why Andrea acts the way she does. With Andrea not noticing, probably forgetting that Molly was still there, Molly quietly whispers to thin air, “Can’t you end this curse now? Not until midnight right.. Uh, I’ll try to make it work.”

The brown haired girl starts to take a deep breath, then gets off the bed and slowly starts walking to Andrea, her still crying. She lowers down onto her level, putting a hand on the crying girl’s shoulder, “Listen Andrea, if you wanna talk…”

Andrea quickly raises her head, eyes bloodshot with tears, snot coming from her nose. She’s starting to regret bringing Molly into her house, “Listen Molly, just lea- Ummph!”

Molly quickly puts her hands over Andrea’s mouth before she can tell her to leave, she knows she’ll say yes, but she can’t just leave Andrea alone. She’s been left alone too many times.

“Please don’t tell me to leave, I wanna stay, at least until I have to go home.” Molly then slowly pulls her hands away from Andrea’s mouth, “Talk to me Andrea, tell me what’s wrong.”

Andrea’s eyes start to glisten as she looks at Molly McGee, with her stupid smile, as if that makes everything alright. But… then Andrea says everything, she pours out her heart and soul, all her worries, her fears, and Molly listens. Andrea feels like she’s been talking for hours, but in the end she’s glad to get everything off her chest.

“It feels good to talk about my problems with other people, I never knew.”

Molly smiles as she helps lift Andrea up, giving her a handkerchief from the girl’s nightstand to wipe her tears and snot away. As Andrea starts to gain control of herself, she looks at Molly, both her eyes and her face red, but she can’t help but like the feeling of warmth this time, “You better not tell anyone at school about this.”

Molly lets out a little chuckle, “Yes.” Andrea can’t help but laugh too as she escorts Molly to the front door, it’s gotten dark outside and Molly needs to get home.

Molly starts walking out the front door, she stops to think and then turns around before Andrea can shut the door. “Andrea, umm, tomorrow’s Sunday and I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and Libby?”

Andrea thinks about it, she doesn’t really want to hang out with Libby, but hanging out with Molly was actually really nice and Lord help her, she’s starting to warm up to this girl, “Yes, that'd be nice.”

“Great!” Molly then hugs Andrea unexpectedly. Usually Andrea would be annoyed by this gesture, but she can’t help but hug back. Hugging her felt really nice and she couldn't help but feel her heart beating rapidly, worried that Molly might feel it too. When they let go, Molly smiles widely at Andrea and Andrea can’t help but smile back, leaning in, she plants a small peck on the other girl’s cheek.

Molly stiffens, a gigantic blush spreading across her face, “A-Andrea!?”

Andrea’s face reddens even more, greatly embarrassed at what she’s done, “Uh, see you tomorrow!” She then quickly slams the door and locks it, burying her hands onto her face. Why the heck did I do that!?

As Andrea thinks she’s going to die from embarrassment, she hears Molly yell from the other side, “See you tomorrow Andrea!”

Seconds tick by and the house is quiet, Andrea’s hands still on her face. But there’s also a smile on her face as well.
