Work Text:

The sun is shining and the day has been wonderful. Buck takes another spoon of his vanilla ice cream and chuckles looking at Christopher who has his lips covered in chocolate and pistachio ice cream. Eddie laughs too and hands him a napkin, Chris takes it and cleans himself.

“Can I have another scoop of it?” he asks with a cheeky smile, showing them his empty cup.

Eddie shakes his head, “You know how it goes, you always whine about bellyache if you have too much of it!”

Christopher's smile turns into a pout, “But, Dad, the pistachio one is sooo good. Please. Buck?” he turns his head to him and he gives him his mastered puppy dog eyes.

Buck looks at him, then at Eddie and at Chris again and he is too weak to those eyes to say no. So he looks at Eddie with matching pout and puppy dog eyes, “C'mon, Eds, it's just one more scoop, it can't hurt.”

Eddie sighs, trying to stay in control and not give up in front of that cuteness, “Buck, I love you, I do. But you have to stop spoiling our kid!” he scolds, surrender clear in his voice.

“I won't whine about bellyache, I promise!” is Christopher immediate attempt.

“He won't have bellyache. We will have a cup of tea before bed.” Buck adds, determinated.

Eddie looks at them and rolls his eyes, “Fine,” he sighs, “You can have it. But if I hear one complaint about bellyache, you both won't have ice cream for a month!” he threatens, but Buck and Chris are celebrating their victory with an high five and are not paying him any attention.

They end on buying pistachio ice cream for Chris and chocolate ice cream for Buck, but it ends almost everything eaten by Christopher under the disappointed look of Eddie and the innocent smile of Buck.

When they arrive home after stopping for grocery, Christopher goes in his room to finish his homework and Buck and Eddie organize the grocery. They dance around each other to place things in the cupboards, in the fridge; they work in silence, light touches in the waist and shoulder every now and then just to feel the other and soft smiles in their lips.

When it's dinner time, they eat some leftovers from lunch and then they heat some water, place three mugs in the counter with three bags of tea inside. Christopher emerges from his room already in his pyjama and smiles at them just because.

They drink their tea and they decide to watch a movie. Christopher falls asleep after one hour and Buck scoops him up and brings him to bed, wraps him in the blanket and place a kiss in his forehead.

When he goes back in the living room, Eddie smiles at him and when he sits, he snuggles at his side, his head on his shoulder. They keep watching the movie in a comfortable silence and it is in that silence that Buck is hit by a realization.

“You said you love me,” he says, turning to look at Eddie.

Eddie, whose head falls from his shoulder and looks at him with bother for the sudden movement, “Uhm?” he mumbles, clearly on the verge of sleep.

Buck's eyes are wide and shocked, “You said you love me,” he repeats, tone alarmed, “When you were scolding me for the ice cream, you clearly said you love me.”

Eddie nods, “And if I remember correctly, I also said you have to stop spoiling Chris.” he retorts, apparently calm like Buck is talking about the weather.

“Eddie!” Buck whines, because this is huge and Eddie can't be this composed, “You also referred to Chris as "our kid".” he points out, a pinch of panic in his voice.

“Oh,” Eddie whispers, “Well, this is most definitely the worst love declaration of human history,” he says, and when it turns to face Buck, there is panic in his eyes too, “I'm sorry, Buck, I don't even know-”

But his rumbling is interrupted by Buck's lips on his. He lets go a "Oomph" for the sudden impact of Buck's body with his, and then they are lying down on the couch and their lips are gently touching in a sweet kiss.

When they part, Buck smiles at him, “Do you mean it?” he whispers, “Do you really love me?”

Eddie frames his face with his hands and kisses his cheeks, then his nose, his birthmark, “Yes. I do love you. A lot.”

Buck kisses him again, with more passion this time, “I love you, too.” he confesses, red cheeks and soft smile.

“Good. It would've been very awkward otherwise.” is all Eddie says.

And then they are kissing again, and they keep whispering sweet little "I love yous", and their bodies are touching everywhere and it's all so perfect.

The next time they are at the park, Christopher knows how to play his cards, so he asks another scoop of ice cream directly to Buck, whom, powerless in front of the kid's puppy dog eyes, agrees in the span of two seconds without even paying attention to Eddie's complaints.

“You love us,” he tries to smooth him with a kiss on his cheek.

Eddie shakes his head, “Yeah,” he says, fake annoyed, “I guess I do love you.”

And Buck kisses him in front of their giggling son.

Notes:

Just a little something for these two, because I think they would declare their love for each other without even realize it because it is just so easy.
I hope you enjoy it. Kudos and comments are always welcome :)
