Chapter Text

(Start of Chapter)

"Huh! Huh! Huh!"

Mono runs fast to avoid the wall of meat and eyes right behind him. It's too disturbing for anyone to see.

Mono runs without stop, so he wouldn't end up under it at any cost. And up ahead of him is his only best friend, Six. He has just saved his friend from the Signal Tower's influence by breaking the music box.

Why would he do that? Maybe it's because she's the first-ever person he has ever felt so bonded to.

"The first person I can believe."

And that, in turn, makes him willing to save her whatever the cost is. Mono has even smashed numerous Bully heads, burns the Doctor even though he didn't intend to. Then, there's Thin Man, a powerful and very entity that kidnapped his best friend away from him and chased him down. Yet, Mono has defeated him and made him "out of commission."

His determination to save Six is so supreme that he would even risk his life for her as he always did. And he did it!

He has freed her from the prison within the Signal Tower. And now, they just need to escape from this hell. Mono has a slight excitement to think about how much he will make Six happy as every time she smiles, that spreads like a plague to him.

"Hope she will enjoy the time with me."

.

Then, a quake snaps him back to the reality that he needs to escape this tower first and he can enjoy it later.

Mono tries to run faster as the moving abomination is right behind. Then, he can see the light in front of his eyes. The light at the end of the hall, lying behind the door frames. Though feeling relieved, he can't stop running ahead towards it.

Running and running, he narrowly leaped across the cracking floor. And the absurd scene below is just a moving abomination of meat and eyes like the one behind him. As he lands on the floor, he looks at the light again.

"Yes! I'm almost there!"

However, as he's almost right at the door frame,...

*THUD!!*

The thing hits his back so hard that he falls. Fortunately, as he looks back in panic, he sees the flesh has stuck to the frame, struggling like a blob of slime. And that does make him feel relaxed for a bit.

He then sees himself in a vast-open-spaced room with the bridge he's on as the only thing. Besides, there is only a dark void beneath all.

Then, the whole place shakes abruptly. Some dust and stones fall from the ceiling. Having no time to waste, Mono quickly gets before even the bridge collapses. He hastily starts running. Looking ahead, Mono feels relieved that Six's still there.

He tries to keep following her. But, all the effort to evade Six attacks in her monster form has drained all his stamina and mentality. As he keeps running, Mono recalls when he turned his friend back, Six deeply stared at him before the flesh started chasing them down.

"Why would I think about that now?"

Flashing back to reality, Mono tries his best to catch up with Six, but his vision just keeps getting more blurry.

"No! I. Have to. Get to Six."

*CRACK!*

However, things just get more desperate as Mono hears and sees the bridge just crumble where Six jumps away. Too wide for him to jump.

He runs tiredly and slower. Slower. And slower.

"What's the point of keeping up?"

"MONO!!"

Mono hastily looks at where the voice comes from. Instantly, he's so glad that Six is still there, waiting for him. And she hangs out her hands at the edge. Mono has a small smile and then speeds up to gain momentum.

Running and running.

And he jumps!!

...

...

...

...

...

Six catches Mono, who feels a sudden relief.

"Finally, this nightmare will end."

However, an oddly long second later, Six still haven't pulled him up. He looks up and is startled by Six, who looks cheerful yet very maniacal. Her face makes Mono feel uneasy, a feeling he never had towards her.

"Why does she look at me like that?"

Mono keeps looking at Six as she starts to make a creepy smile. And that quickly makes him nervous.

"Six. Pull me up, please?"

Then, He sees her crimson eyes staring happily at him as if she gets something she wants.

"Six?"

Then, Six lets off his hand. And Mono falls.

Huh?

Time seems to slow down like a slow-motion film as Mono looks at Six with confusion.

As he falls, He doesn't cry. He doesn't scream. He doesn't feel anything. But one question.

Why?

The question he asks is the one lets off her hand when he needs it the most.

Why?

Tears start dripping from his eyes as he raises his hand towards his friend's figure. But now that the shadow of his best friend fades into the light, the question is only for himself.

Why? Six?...

Then, all left is just darkness...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

Huh!

Mono wakes up while holding his aching head.

"Where am I?"

Mono's question answers itself as he looks beneath him, a fleshing floor beating like a living. The one that looks the same as the one chasing him earlier.

Mono looks around. Darkness and the fleshing floor are the only things in sight.

.

Then, the memories start running through his mind. His heart suddenly aches painfully.

Six...

She...

.

Then, he feels something is tearing his heart and soul apart as he thinks about the moment.

His friend,...

The ONLY person he's ever spent time with.

The ONLY friend he's ever made.

The ONLY friend he's ever wished to protect.

The ONLY friend he has ever had a feeling for.

...betrayed him.

Right when he needed his friend the most, he ended up falling.

He wants to cry but can't.

He wants to yell, but something seems to be stuck in his throat.

His heart stops as something heavy weighs him down.

Mono knees down as he recalls all the time he and Six spent together. Kicking footballs before arriving at the School. Spending time resting together before the Hospital. Playing with toys in the X-ray room.

The more bitter the pain in his heart is, the more he thinks about the sweet time he spends with Six.

Mono wants a friend.

He wants a companion.

And he wants someone to believe in.

But that very person. Betrayed him.

...

...

...

...

...

...

Moments later, Mono then gets up to look around, with his heart has torn apart.

Every step he takes is a weight on his body, weighing him down.

Every step he takes is another pin piercing his heart.

Every step he takes is another second to this little nightmare.

.

Then, Mono sees a chair on top of a hill of flesh and eyes.

Too tired, he exhaustedly walks to the chair, ignoring all the eyes staring at him.

.

As he stands on the chair, the fleshing wall suddenly starts closing in, making him feel an intense headache.

The closer the wall is, the more intense the pain gets. Mono desperately holds his head.

"Please. Stop."

Hasn't he gotten enough suffering? Hasn't he experienced enough misery?

The wall keeps closing in, making him squat down and try not to get fainted. His sight starts flickering more and more.

.

Suddenly, the headache disappears. Mono opens his eyes to look around.

Surprisingly, in a blink, all the flesh is gone. All left is a stone floor and wall with a dim light above.

Feeling like everything in his heart and soul has drained, Mono sits down.

Six...

...

...

...

...

(Many years later)

Time passes, Mono has grown up a bit, from a young boy to a teenager.

However, his body keeps getting thinner the more he grows. And he still griefs over the betrayal and his very existence.

Is this how I die?

No friends. No happiness.

Just loneliness and misery.

The thought keeps swirling inside his head without any exit. Like a nightmare without any escapes.

.

"CRACK!"

A loud cracking sound abrupts his thoughts, making him look for the source.

There he sees the crack, shining the warming light through. A bright light that he hasn't seen in ages. A light that suddenly brings hope and strength to him. Wanting more, Mono uses his power to open it forcefully, letting the light shine more.

Mono suddenly feels nostalgic. This suddenly reminds him of the hopefulness he used to hold. And He wants it to last forever.

Suddenly, the flesh starts closing the crack, covering the light he wants. Without any thought, Mono rushes through the hole.

Then, he just faints away.

(In the Lady quarters, at the Maw)

Six has successfully defeated the Lady, a tall and intimidating female with a white mask, with a mirror. However, the taste of victory doesn't last long as she suddenly feels the intense pain in her stomach, the urge to consume.

Six slowly walks to the Lady, who lays down on the ground and breathes weakly, not doing anything. The Lady seemingly gives up all hope and lets Six do the inevitable.

Closer.

Closer.

And closer.

Then, as soon as she approaches the Lady's neck, Six BITE. A black mist starts flying violently around them as Six bites deep into the Lady's neck.

.

Then, the mist starts fading, leaving the Lady's corpse and Six insight.

She has changed. Something inside her changed.

Black mist appears again and flies around her violently, destroying any light nearby.

...

Six, using her newly-obtained power, opens a door, which leads to the main hall. They're the Guests, the giant over-obese people who only care about feasting and eating.

As Six walks down the carpet, more and more Guests see and come to eat her. However, they all meet the same fate, being sucked life force out of the body.

As Six keeps walking, more lights break by the mist, darkening the place more and more.

As she reaches the end of the room, the door with an eye symbol opens automatically, revealing the bright and warm sunlight.

.

Six slowly walks up the stairs, getting to the surface, where freedom domains. On the top of the dock, Six sees the blurring sun and feels the howling winds in the air.

Freedom at last.

But,...

She's not satisfied. Something's still bothering her.

Six can feel it but not quite yet.

Something she once forgot. Something she once enjoyed.

"Are you okay?"

.

Suddenly, she hears something warm and comfortable. Something she's familiar with and close to.

"Mono?"

As Six looks at the source, she sees the air crack like a broken mirror, emitting a warm and bright light. A light makes Six feel so strange yet so familiar.

Six doesn't care about anything wrong with it but keeps getting closer to the crack with hopes to find something that she wants.

Someone that she needs.

Someone she can belong to.

.

As she touches it, the crack sucks her in. Inside, Six feels warm and comfortable. A thing that Six hasn't felt in a long time since...when?

She then falls asleep.

(In the dormitory of class 1-A, in the lobby)

After performing a memorable and epic music show and playing at the festival, most class 1A members have returned to their rooms, leaving only Deku, Ilda, and Uraraka.

They watch their class's music performance to see how well they did.

SUDDENLY, the TV starts becoming static. And there, a boy pops out of it, making the group jump.

.

(Meanwhile, at the teachers' dorm, in Aizawa's room)

Aizawa reads the paper that records Eri's medical check and her moving to UA. Eri sleeps peacefully on his lap.

SUDDENLY, his TV turns on by itself.

Then, a girl pops out.
