Work Text:
Anya's been very distant around Damian lately and instead, hanging out with the new boy kid in their class. It annoys Damian, but he definitely has no right to get jealous, wait, no he's not jealous. He refuses to accept he would be jealous over a commoner hanging out with someone who isn't him, right?
Wrong.
He was furiously jealous. Anya had been cancelling their tutor sessions to hang out with the new guy, it's been ticking him off so badly he wanted to come up to the new student and give him a juicy and delicious punch, just like the one Anya had given him as a kid.
What was so good about that guy anyway? He failed his classes even worse than Anya, he always smelled like he had just left the horse barn covered in dirt and pony dump, and he was rude to anyone but Anya. That pissed him off. What could Anya possibly see in him that she couldn't in Damian.
He decided to give her a taste of her own medicine, and attempt to ignore her for the rest of the day.
They had planned to go out to the movies today, but he was planning to go to some arcade instead.
He walks up to Anya, who seemed to be laughing and talking with the new kid.
"Hey."
"Sy-on boy! Remember about the movies later-"
"Uh yeah about that.." he pauses. "I'm not going with you, I got other plans, sorry." He walks away, glaring at the new kid, before turning back to walk.
"But you promised-!" The new kid stops her from going to Damian, and she sighs.
Part 1 of the plan complete! He thinks to himself as he continues to play on the Pac Man game in the arcade. Part 2 of the plan? Definitely wasn't what he had planned to do.
He continues to ignore Anya, from her messages of wanting to go buy ice cream together, to her calls, he thinks he's sly to pull that off, but did he?
Absolutely not.
"Sy-on boy!" Anya calls for him, but no response from him, just walking without even turning back to look at her. "Sy-on boy!" She calls a second time, until she called his name a third time.
"Damian, please..." she runs to him as he turns to look at her, with her tugging his sleeve. "Why aren't you... answering me?" She pouts and frowns with those stupid puppy eyes that always seem to make Damian feel some sort of guilt, but he just pulls his arm away from her.
"I'm busy."
"No you're not."
"I had family business."
"You were at an arcade!" She yells at him.
"How did you know?!"
"The movies were next to the arcade! I saw you... walking into the arcade and I was thinking you were joking and you would come but you didn't and I hate you for that!" She started crying a bit, tearing up.
"You could've gone with that stupid new kid! As if I gave a damn!" Damian yells back at her. Anya, slightly offended, gasps and suddenly her aura changes, she's mad, really mad.
"WE were supposed to hang out that day! What did he even do to you?! What did I do to you?! What did-"
"I'm jealous, okay?! I'm jealous you're cancelling every tutoring session WE planned just to hang out with a stupid guy like him!" He snaps and yells at her. She dumbfoundedly stares at him in shock.
"Damian-"
"I'm jealous you're driving your attention to HIM and not ME when I'VE been with you longer than HIM, so I decided to give you a taste of your own medicine by not going to the stupid movies with you and now you're getting mad at ME when it was YOU who started it." He stops, out of breath, and his face turns stern. It wasn't his usual bully aura, he was really mad.
Anya stops crying, and immediately grabs Damian into a big embrace, snuggling her face into his chest.
"Wait, wait why did you just-"
"I'm sorry you felt that way!" She looks up at him, with those puppy eyes that he can't say no to at all, with tears dripping from her eyes. "I'm sorry! I just wanted to be nice to him but I never knew I pushed you away! I'm so sorry, please forgive me!"
Damian sighs, and hugs her back, his face turning red and becoming the flustered guy he was around her. "I'm sorry... for yelling..." he subtly whispers as they both turn silent.
"How should I make it up to you?"
"Take me to the movies. And the arcade. And a fancy dinner. Oh and, buy me free peanuts!" She menacingly grins, which makes Damian roll his eyes.
"You're asking for too much."
"It's payback!"
"Then you should treat me to the fancy dinner instead."
"I don't have the money!"
