“Bye, ARMY! Take care going home!”
“Stay safe! We’ll see you again soon!”
“I love you, ARMY!”
It’s the end of their 4-day sold out concerts in Las Vegas and they are all waving goodbye to ARMY. A lot of them waited, opting to catch a glimpse of the boys who were about to enter their vehicles instead of immediately exiting the stadium.
“They miss us just as much as we miss them.” Seokjin thought out loud. He looked behind him when he heard a squeal and he saw Jimin being carried by Jungkook. He smiled as he walked to the ride he is sharing with Yoongi. After looking at the remaining audience for the last time, he entered the car where his carmate is already seated.
“That was another great concert. Right, Yoongi-ah? Being on stage is really the best thing!”
Yoongi only hummed as a response and continued to browse through his phone. Silence is comfortable when it comes to Bangtan’s two eldest hyungs. They don’t try to fill it with unnecessary small talk, which is the reason why they’re the perfect combination, whether it be as carmates or as roommates.
Seokjin understands that Yoongi needs the quiet, especially after exerting energy and effort in their concerts, he himself needs it too at times. He leaned his head on the seat and closed his eyes to rest a little while they’re traveling, he might even be able to take a nap. A few minutes passed and he heard Yoongi’s deep sigh. He didn’t pay any attention thinking the other might just be exhaling after taking a deep breath.
They were almost in their hotel when Seokjin heard it again. He looked at Yoongi and saw him still focused on his phone, pouting. “Everything okay, Yoongi-ah?”
Sigh. There it is again. Seokjin just kept on staring, waiting for the younger male to respond. When he finally looked up, Seokjin saw his pout more prominently.
“Did you know that we’re the worst pair in our group?” Yoongi’s deep voice is soft but can be heard clearly in their quiet car.
“Huh? Of course not! What do you mean? We’re the best! Have you forgotten we have telepathy?” Though Yoongi’s tone was serious, Seokjin is pretty sure he is joking. How can they be the worst pair after all? They’re the best in his opinion!
Seokjin was still waiting for an answer when Yoongi opened the car door and glanced at him. “Check our group chat,” he briefly said before entering the hotel.
Seokjin tried to follow Yoongi so they could ride the elevator together going up to their respective rooms, but the latter went past the lobby leading to the elevator. Hmm, maybe he wants to go to the bar to unwind first. He wasn’t invited, so Seokjin figured he should give the younger man his time alone, that’s probably what he needs at this time. Seokjin smiled to himself, knowing what each other needs is proof that they're a good pair, right?
It was after taking a shower and getting ready to go to bed when Seokjin finally opened Bangtan’s group chat. He scrolled through to see what Yoongi was referring to:

Seokjin ignored everyone and finally watched the video Jimin shared. Whoa. He finally understood what Yoongi was referring to earlier, and how he must be feeling. He was serious about being the worst pair then. Are we? No. He won’t accept that. Seokjin and Yoongi are NOT the worst pair. They’re SIN after all, eternal roommates. Bangtan’s hyungs. Fishing buddies. Soulmates. Even their MBTI is exactly the same, though both he and Yoongi do not really believe in it.
Anyway, point being, they are definitely NOT the worst pair. And he has to prove it to Yoongi. He knows the compilation video seemed as though they are, but Seokjin will never ever agree to it. He knows their partnership better than anyone.
He has never met anyone he can talk with for long hours without getting bored. They have the same wavelength. No matter how different they may seem on screen, they are very similar. Their likes, dislikes, they match.
Yoongi, his constant supporter. Yoongi, who sometimes does things just because Seokjin likes them. Yoongi, his motivator. Yoongi, his person. Yoongi, his love. Huh? Do I love Yoongi? Of course, I love all the members. But Yoongi is different. Seokjin can’t explain it but he knows in his heart and mind, what he feels for Yoongi is different. Just the thought that Yoongi is thinking they’re the worst pair is making his heart ache.
Yoongi has been his comfort even before their group started being recognized. He remembers the time they were roommates, when they would push their beds together and watch movies until they fell asleep. He remembers their trainee days, when they would drink soju and talk a lot about things only they understood. There was a time when they were the only ones who could drive in their team, and they shared responsibility in picking the younger ones from school. Yoongi is and always will be his partner, and they are the best pair. He just needed to see that. Seokjin is determined to show him.
It took some time for Seokjin to compile all the clips he found on SNS. He kept saving them in a folder on his phone for easy access and he can’t wait to show Yoongi the clips he found. He saw some ARMYs calling him and Yoongi as SIN, and some call them YoonJin. Thanks to them, he found clips of him and Yoongi being so in sync, it was almost overwhelming. He knew from way back that they match, but he hasn’t realized how much.
Finding those video clips and watching them took some time, time that Seokjin didn’t notice because he kept smiling, genuinely enjoying each one of them. When he finished, it was already almost 2 am but he cannot wait anymore. He quickly took his phone out and typed a message to the intended audience of the clips.
Yoongi-ah, are you awake?
Only a minute passed before he received a reply.
BigHit Min Yoongi
It’s late, hyung. Why are you texting?
Kim Seokjin
Yay! You’re still up. I’m on my way to your room. Wait for me.

Why, though?
Seokjin did not pause to reply but hastily pulled out something to put over his pajama tops. He left his room and made his way to Yoongi’s room, ignoring some of their security who are stationed on their floor. It took only one knock and Yoongi is opening his door, staring at Seokjin.
“What’s the matter, hyung?”
“Can I come in? I need to show you something.”
“Couldn’t it wait until the morning?” Yoongi asked just as he opens his door wider, inviting Seokjin in.
“It could, but I don’t want to. I need you to know something right now.” Seokjin doesn’t know where his confidence is coming from but he fished out his phone from his pocket, opened the folder where he saved the clips and handed his phone to Yoongi. “Watch everything there. I’m gonna sit here and wait.”
“Can’t I watch them tomorrow, hyung? I think I’m done with videos for today.” Seokjin can hear the pout in Yongi’s voice, but he won’t allow it to hinder his purpose for coming to the latter’s room.
“No, Yoongi. Please watch them now. It won’t take a lot of your time, I promise. I need you to watch it now.” Seokjin's voice started to sound pleading. He can't afford to spend another few more hours having Yoongi think the worst of their pair. Especially not now that he came to realize his own feelings.
Yoongi sighed and proceeded to sit down, Seokjin’s phone in his hand. He looked at what his hyung wanted him to watch, and saw a few video clips in a folder. He clicked the first one in the folder and it’s a clip of him and Seokjin crossing their arms and leaning their head on the couch, at exactly the same time. It was like a synchronized move, he had to make an effort not to smile.
He finished one clip and moved to the next one in the folder. This time it was of him and Seokjin brushing their hair in sync. The third file he clicked showed Seokjin and Yoongi watching the other members and reacting the same way at the same time. He looked at Seokjin then and asked, “What am I looking at, hyung? What are all these videos?”
Seokjin stared at Yoongi for a few seconds before responding. “As you can see, Yoongi-ah, we are very much in sync. The video clips are there for you to be reminded how greatly we match. You haven’t seen all of them. You should watch everything, then you’ll believe me when I say that we’re the best pair.”
Yoongi smiled and Seokjin saw one of his favorite views, Yoongi’s gummy smile. “It’s okay, hyung. It’s late, I don’t need to watch them all to see what you mean. I guess I just felt lame when I saw the video of us that Jimin shared earlier.” Yoongi sighed before continuing, “How come one of us always seems to dodge when the other is about to lean or do something?”
“That’s nothing compared to all the time we were in sync though!” Seokjin started whining.
Yoongi laughed and Seokjin stared once again. It is now or never. He needs to be serious just this one time. He is allergic to feelings but he can make an exception for his person.
“Yoongi-ah,” Seokjin started. “I think the reason why I dodged that time, though unconsciously, is because I didn’t want anyone to know what I was really feeling. That every time I’m with you I want to hold your hand or just lay my head on your shoulder. I want to hug you but I might not be able to stop right away, unlike with the others. What the videos show are true, and that’s how I feel too. We are so much in sync because I still think we are soulmates, our connection is different. It might not be a big deal for some but having you think that we’re the worst pair saddens me. ”
From the time he started speaking, Yoongi couldn’t take his eyes off Seokjin even for a second. He watched his hyung’s face, seeing his ears get redder and redder until it’s the color of tomatoes, but he didn’t take his eyes off. Those are words he wanted to hear but he still wanted to make sure he is understanding everything correctly.
“What are you saying, hyung?”
“I’m saying that we match perfectly well, and I want a chance to prove it to you.” Seokjin paused to look at his hand resting on his lap before continuing, “If you would allow me.”
“Huh.”
Seokjin looked up to Yoongi when he heard that one syllable and he hastily continued, “I mean, of course I cannot promise that I would know everything you want to do on stage. But I want to try.” Seokjin’s voice turned to an almost whisper at the end of his sentence. He is getting more embarrassed by the minute and he doesn’t know how to proceed with his confession anymore. “So?”
“So,” Yoongi repeats, “do you like me, hyung?”
“Duh, isn’t it obvious from all the things I said already?” Seokjin deadpanned.
“No, it isn’t. You didn’t say it.” Yoongi answered with a smirk.
Seokjin took Yoongi’s hand in his and looked him in the eye. “I know this escalated from just a simple video you watched earlier. But Yoongi-ah, I want you to know I like you.”
Yoongi squeezed Seokjin’s hand, “That’s convenient, hyung. I like you too.”
Seokjin pulled Yoongi to stand and hugged him tight. “You brat. You scared me.”
Yoongi returned the embrace laughing silently. “I’m glad the kids made fun of us in the gc. This turned out really well.”
“Yeah. Who knew all those wrong timing scenarios would lead to a perfect opportunity?”
It was around 5 am when they got to everything but Yoongi and Seokjin made sure to watch all the clips that the latter compiled. They kept teasing each other while watching, which caused them the delay, but it was all worth it. They know they’re not the most popular pair in their group, but they’re happy to know that there are people who see them as the perfect pair too. They can’t wait to prove all of them right. 💜
