“You always smell good hyung.” Jungkook whispered from behind Hoseok. The two were huddled up on the couch together with Jungkook wrapping himself around Hoseok’s back, poking his nose right into the back of his head. It was a habit he’d picked up ever since the two first met, something Hoseok never commented on, assuming it was one of the boy’s quirks. He could hear Jungkook take a small breath, inhaling the smell of Hoseok’s gentle floral shampoo.
“What do I smell like to you Jungkookie?” Hoseok turned around in Jungkook’s arms, his face curling into his neck. He brought his hands up to play with the necklaces around Jungkook’s neck, twisting the small charm around its chain, the little flower charm that matched the one around Hoseok’s own neck.
“The flowers from my aunt’s garden that I used to tend to during the summers. Those scenes in Ghibli movies when the wind is blowing through the trees or through a field, and the sky is clear, and there’s a single petal floating in the air. You smell like when you’re by the ocean and the sun is setting, and the water looks dark blue and bright orange at the same time, and it’s almost blinding the way the sun shines off the surface, the way it sparkles in warmth but would still be nice and cool on your skin if you were to dip your feet in.” Jungkook took one of his hands that were resting on Hoseok’s back and brought it up to gently grasp his fingers. Hoseok moved his head so he could look up at Jungkook, honey dripping from his gaze with how sweet he looked at him.
“You smell like that scene in Sound of Music when Maria is dancing in the field without a worry in the world, but you also smell like when you see a cat curled up in the one spot on the sofa that has sunlight on it, and when they fall asleep and are so at peace with the world because nothing else matters in that moment.” Hoseok hummed, stroking his thumb over the tattoos on Jungkook’s knuckles.
“You smell like home, hyung.” Jungkook concluded. “You make me feel so happy, and so safe, and never like I’m too much or too little. You always smell nice, but it’s never overbearing to me. You smell like you, like my Hobi-hyung. Like my home.”
