"Where are we going now?" Musa asked, eyeing the random assortment of earth shops.
"Hey! There's a club over there!" Aisha said, eyes sparkling.
"I don't know about this," Stella said squinting her eyes at the building that Aisha had pointed out. "...It's a school day. This place is bound to be full of dropouts."
Aisha frowned. Stella made a good point, but... "
Well just mind our own business." Aisha said resolutely. She really really wanted to dance.
"And where not exactly pushovers." Musa tacked on, looking excited too.
Stella shrugged. "I'll catch up with you later, alright."
"Gonna meet up with Bloom?" Musa said, tilting her head to face Stella. "Yep! Right after I swing by the mall, again, and pick up a little something for my Brandon." Stella sighed dreamily, and Aisha could practically see the hearts swirling around her.
Musa rolled her eyes in a manner that could only be described as affectionate.
"Ready to go?" Musa asked, already walking towards the open doors.
"Yeah!" Aisha replied happily.
"See ya!" Stella shouted after them.
Aisha was ecstatic to see the large dance floor, bright colored lights, and crowds of people. Somewhere she could easily have fun and blend in.
A place where she could dance with her closest friend.
With a pep in her step, Aisha grabbed Musa's hand and began leading Musa to an empty spot on the dance floor.
"This is cool!" Musa exclaimed, a bright smile on her face.
Just thinking about Anne made Aisha keen to do a little mischief.
Aisha smirked.
"Yeah but," Aisha started, leaning in closer to Musa. "...the beat is kinda boring."
Aisha could tell that Musa was also less than enthused by the song choice if the way she scrunched her nose at the sound system earlier was any indication.
Musa looked up at Aisha, apprehension. "What if an earthling sees us?"
"Oh come on! No one will notice!" It was the same justification that Anne used, and Aisha wasn't quite aware when it slipped into her vocabulary. "This place is too crowded. Who will see?"
Musa lightly smirked. "Well~ if no one will see, it's not that big of a deal is it?" Aisha blushed slightly at Musa's tone, happy that it was impossible actually see the blush itself.
Musa put both of her hands behind her back forming a small ball of energy, tossing a small wink, and throwing the ball of magic through the glow of a spotlight into all the speakers.
It blended in well enough with the lights to barely be noticeable unless you were staring at it. A simple trick of the light.
The speakers stuttered for a moment under the muting spell, before Musa's voice was projected throughout the room from the magic now hidden in the speakers. Well, more like from the area speakers were.
Aisha pulled Musa in close for a partner dance, giggling.
"Musa!" Aisha hissed with mock offense.
"Aisha!" Musa teased back and pulled a wide smirk. "You said better music~ and you've always liked my songs."
Aisha laughed loudly, spinning Musa around.
Musa was generally straight-laced, tides save any idiot that put her scholarship in danger, but her moments of mischief were something that Aisha would always treasure.
Plus, hearing more of Musa's voice was always good, though not everyone shared this good taste.
"Who changed the music to this trash?!" A very unpleasant voice called out over the crowd.
Musa froze slightly and Aisha turned her head to glare at the idiot women.
With a quick snap of her fingers, the woman's drink exploded all over her face.
A trick she picked up to deal with suitors.
Now it was Musa's turn to fake gasp at her.
"Aisha!" Musa exclaimed, eyebrows raised.
"Musa!" Aisha giggled back.
Watching Musa dance had Aisha memorized.
Anne, by request of her mother, was a ballet dancer. She mixed the technical and precise style with her own free-spirited energy. She jumped probably more than necessary, but that didn't matter to her. She liked leaping, so she did. She did all her favorite moves and pretended anything she wasn't interested in didn't exist.
Musa didn't have this problem. She didn't exist inside the bubble both Aisha and Anne were trapped in, where the only dance they could learn was traditional. Not constrained to merely ballet, Musa danced with a mix of styles she had seen in her favorite performances. Sliding seamlessly in between different styles, likely without even knowing they're not supposed to go with everyone. Musa would go from a dance move that's clearly from hip-hop into a ballerina spin, all because it's what she liked to do.
Musa's voice faded out from around the room, and the song spell was over.
"Want me to grab us something to drink?" Musa asked, slightly out of breath from dancing so enthusiastically.
Aisha nodded, her mouth dry, but not for the same reason.
Musa was wearing a dress today, when Aisha first saw it she had blushed from her head to her toes, but seeing the way Musa moved in it was another thing entirely.
She had to say something.
Before it was too late.
Too late like Anne, who left before Aisha could tell her how she felt.
Musa had already walked away, and Aisha was just standing there staring at her like an idiot. She needed to sit down.
Aisha looked over the room, spotting a circle couch. Nice. Aisha quickly moved to secure the comfortable seating for her and Musa.
It didn't take very long for Musa to spot her and take her seat on the opposite curve of the couch, with their drinks.
Aisha tried not to show any disappointment at the distance as she opened her soda.
"You know, this means a lot to me. Coming here with me, that is." Aisha leaned over to grab Musa's shoulder gently. "Thanks a lot, Musa."
"Sure," Musa giggled, a curious glint in her eye. "no problem."
Aisha felt slightly uncomfortable under her gaze.
Musa was an utter dunce when it came to people wearing their hearts on their sleeves, but she could sniff out hidden feelings like a bloodhound.
"Actually Musa. I did have something to tell you." Aisha admitted, a soft blush covering her face.
"Oh! I knew it!" Musa exclaimed excitedly, leaning in. "What is it?"
Aisha summoned every ounce of confidence in her body. Now or never. "I have feelings for you," Aisha said, ducking her head down.
The confession was short and blunt but full of all the emotions Aisha had wanted to let out since Musa had sought her out to comfort her.
Hopefully...
"I—" Musa stuttered. "Aisha—" Looking up, Aisha saw Musa's beat red face and wide eyes. "I don't know—" Musa said, and Aisha braced herself. Musa pulled back and started wringing her hands.
"I mean I like you too!" Musa said meekly, and Aisha instantly sat upright. "Honestly I've always been the worst with romance. None of my relationships have lasted a week...if my crushes even get that far..." Musa sighed. "I have a thing for people who don't like me back, or don't want any relationship."
Musa sighed, putting her head in her hands. "That or I've fallen for another straight girl."
Aisha couldn't help laughing at her.
"Surprised that your crush actually likes you back for once?" Aisha asked with a teasing grin.
Musa sat up quickly, pouting with a blush on her face. "Yeah, like I said. I don't know what to say."
Aisha smiled wildly at that.
It wasn't that she didn't know about Aisha, but her own feelings.
Aisha smirked. "So what you meant to say was: Aisha I'm so in love with you~!"
Musa blushed harder and giggled looking away. "Yeah...I'm admittedly terrible at feelings."
Aisha pulled her face into fake contemplation. "Well, I can't leave my girlfriend looking so down."
Musa blushed as soon as the word girlfriend left her mouth, but smiled back happily.
"Come on! Back to the dance floor!" Aisha said hopping out of her seat, high off of her own feelings. "Let's show them how good we really are!"
