Rain clouds cover the sky, usually this scene would be one of comfort for Lumine, but currently it just feels suffocating. The droplets run down her face, mixing with her tears. She just wants to go home and see her boyfriend. However, she is still a block away and worse yet she has no umbrella, causing her clothes to become wet, making the fabric stick uncomfortably to her skin. Taking out her phone she looks at a hoard of missed messages from her concerned, the words becoming blurred as the phone gets covered in rain. She calls him, shaking from the cold.
“Lumine, are you okay? You sent me a message saying something happened and just stopped replying. Where are you? Are you hurt?” he said, worry evident in his voice.
“Xiao… I'm just walking home, wait for me there.” she said, trying to hide the signs of pain and sadness in her voice.
Xiao, however, knew Lumine too long and too well to be convinced that nothing is wrong. “I’m coming to get you.” he said, not giving Lumine a chance to object before he hung up

As quickly as he can Xiao puts on his shoes and grabs one of his sweatshirts along with a large windbreaker that could cover the sweatshirt then runs out the door. Adrenaline rushes through his body causing him to run at an extremely fast pace. His lungs feel frozen from the frequent inhale of cold air, but that is one of the last things on his mind. What would be a 10 minute run for most people, Xiao reaches Lumines location in only 5 minutes. When he sees her he hugs her so tight he is worried he will hurt her. She starts crying even harder and Xiao notices how much she is shaking. Carefully pulling back from the embrace he frantically unties the sweatshirt from around his waist and quickly helps to put it on her. Then he grabs the windbreakers and puts it on and carefully zips it up. She can’t manage to let out coherent words, only letting out sobs and faint wimpers. Without warning he lifts her onto his back, shocking her for a few seconds before she wraps her arms around his neck and rests her head on his shoulder. Xiao can tell she is tired from crying so he starts walking, paying extra attention to making sure she is as comfortable as she can be while she rests on his back.
“I love you Xiao.” she whispers softly, before quickly falling asleep.
“I love you too Lumine, more than you could ever know” he whispers back even though he knows she can’t hear him as she is already fast asleep. His expression shifts into a sweet smile after feeling her soft, warm breaths against his skin.
The streets are faintly lit by the street lamps and the lights from shop windows. The block barren aside from a few pigeons pecking at the worms on the sidewalk pavement.

When he reaches their house he carefully opens the door carefully so as to not disturb his girlfriend. As he enters he winces as a floorboard creaks, he continues forward towards their room when he notices she is still fast asleep. When he enters their room he gently sets her on the bed, removing her wet clothes and replacing them with fuzzy pajama pants and his softest, most comfortable sweatshirt so she doesn’t get sick.
(AN: this is not sexual at all, he is just taking percautions so she doesn’t catch a cold)
He exits the room to get fuzzy blankets, making as little noise as possible. He goes back into their room noticing that Lumine awoke, but is still partially asleep. He sets the blankets on the edge of the bed, causing a pile to form. She tries to get up but Xiao scoops her into his arms gently, laying her back down.
“Lay down and rest. Let me take care of you, you deserve a break.” he says with a soft smile on his face. She doesn’t have enough energy to refuse, swiftly drifting back to sleep.
Xiao starts to gently wrap her in the cozy blankets, and when done he lies down next to her.
Lumine sleepily snuggles her head into the crook of his neck, putting one hand on his chest and the other near his shoulder. In response Xiao wraps his arm around her pulling her even closer. Their cat, Eris jumps on the bed and moves to lay on the pillows above their head, purring in content. She starts kneading at his head and though it is a bit annoying, it is comforting at the same time. Xiao looks at Lumine admiring her beauty, thinking about how lucky he is to experience this moment, this girl.
