Dabbing at her eyes, Kate collected herself, reading far too much into the way Lucy smiled.
“How am I just hearing about this now?”
“Because Tennant respects me, and I threatened Jesse in very graphic detail.”
“So he wouldn’t tell anyone, or so he wouldn’t tell me?”
“No comment.”
“I knew it.”
“Knew what?”
“You were trying to impress me.”
Try as Lucy might, those eyes gave her away.
