Work Text:
Haebom knew that Taesung was, for lack of a better term, handsy. Although it had been a discovery when they first started dating, the once cold and aloof Taesung constantly patting Haebom’s head, pinching his cheeks or begging for hugs was something he’d grown used to. Haebom adored all of the sweet touches and attention even if he never said it out loud; Taesung’s teasing would become unbearable if he ever did, and then there’d truly be no way of stopping his constant doting and wandering hands.
It wasn’t like Haebom didn’t dole out his fair share of affectionate in return. He was always warm and caring towards Taesung; encouraging him to mend his relationship with his mother, complimenting and praising him every chance he got, and never ever refusing a hug from his tall clingy boyfriend.
So, the problem wasn’t that Haebom minded Taesung’s constant desire for closeness, but the other had become quite touchy. In public.
Before, Taesung had, for the most part, kept his “clinginess” contained to the privacy of their apartment, but ever since they’d told his mother the truth, it was like he couldn’t be bothered to hide anything from anyone anymore. And it was driving Haebom crazy. It was like Taesung was everywhere at once. A warm palm on Haebom’s lower back as he ushered him into a café, fingers dragging from his cheek to his neck in greeting when Taesung picked him up from one of the few classes they didn’t share, and the hand currently resting on Haebom’s knee as Taesung studied while Haebom stared at his textbook unblinkingly.
He knew his face was red, it had to be, but Taesung didn’t seem to notice, focused on his work instead of on the boyfriend he was slowly killing.
Haebom glanced at him from the corner of his eyes. Dark hair falling delicately on his forehead, long lashes fanning his brown eyes moving quickly over the page, and pink lips slightly parted as he read over the words as if they could only be memorized if they were spoken out loud. A long pale neck leading up to the most attractive profile Haebom had ever seen, and he was both frustrated and hopelessly enamored with it.
Haebom let out a resigned sigh, still gazing at his oblivious boyfriend. Taesung turned at the sound giving Haebom one of his small heart melting smiles and, to Haebom’s horror, a quick squeeze to the knee his hand was still resting on.
Haebom had had enough.
Taesung frowned slightly in confusion at the shorter boy’s angry expression and accompanying pout.
Haebom grabbed his dumb, beautiful, annoying, touchy boyfriend’s hand, pushed away from the table and dragged him away to a nearby shelf.
“This needs to stop.”, he huffed.
Taesung leaned in slightly cocking his head with curiosity.
“Haebom-a what is it?”, he asked in hushed tones.
“You-you’ve got to stop”, Haebom managed to stutter out, staring resolutely at Taesung chest.
Taesung made a confused sound.
“Stop what baby?”, he asked slowly.
The casual endearment had Haebom’s face flaming and he was sure he was going to combust, if his heart didn’t beat out of his chest first.
“Stop touching me all the time!”, he hissed finally looking up at his tall frustrating tree of a boyfriend. Taesung seemed taken aback by his answer, his eyebrows creasing in confusion and, Haebom realized, hurt.
“I didn’t know it bothered you…”, Taesung eventually replied.
Haebom let out another put upon sigh.
“It doesn’t. Not when were home and alone, and it’s not like I don’t know how clingy you are. But lately, it’s like you can’t keep your hands off me! You’re always standing so close, and touching me, and then I get all flustered and I can’t think and I need you to stop making my heart flutter all the time!” The words flew out of Haebom’s mouth in one breath, the boy finding it hard to stop once he’d started finally letting out his frustration, and now he feared he’d said too much.
What if he’d hurt Taesung’s feelings? What if the other withdrew from him? It wasn’t that Haebom didn’t want his boyfriend to touch him, he just needed him to show a bit of restraint so that he could function again. Haebom peered at Taesung’s face waiting for a reaction, and watched as a teasing smile slowly took over his boyfriend’s face. Taesung started inching even closer, forcing Haebom to lean away slightly. He stumbled backwards. His shoulders hit the shelf behind him, Taesung following his movement until they were pressed close to each other. Placing a hand by Haebom’s head, Taesung loomed over his boyfriend, smile firmly in place.
“Haebom-a.” he asked, “do I make you shy?”
This idiot.
“Yes! That’s what I just said!” Haebom whispered heatedly noticing his breath was a bit shorter now.
Taesung’s smile got impossibly bigger and he let out a pleased chuckle.
“Well, I’m sorry baby. I spent so long stopping myself from having you that it’s hard to hold back now that you’re mine.” He said looking directly into Haebom’s eyes.
“But if it makes you uncomfortable, or, what was it?” Taesung paused narrowing his eyes jockingly, “if it makes your heart flutter? Then, I’ll try to stop touching you so much.” He finished.
“You don’t have to stop completely”, Haebom mumbled looking down.
“Oh?”
“Just- just control yourself”
Taesung took Haebom’s hand in his.
“Is this okay?” he asked softly.
Haebom nodded.
Taesung moved his other hand from the shelf to cup Haebom’s cheek, gently caressing the skin with his thumb.
“And this?”
Haebom’s breath hitched and he knew Taesung could feel how warm his cheek was now.
“Maybe not in public”, he managed to get out.
Taesung nodded understandingly.
“Of course. You’re right.”
He leaned in even closer, forehead nearly brushing Haebom’s, his every exhale ghosting over Haebom’s lips. Taesung gave them a quick glance before locking his gaze on Haebom’s blown pupils again.
“We should probably only do this in private too”, he whispered before sealing his lips over Haebom’s.
If Haebom let out a slightly embarrassing noise as their mouths made contact well that was his business.
So, his boyfriend was clingy. As Haebom wrapped his arms around Taesung’s neck and let himself be kissed breathless, he realized that he didn’t actually care all that much.
