of being parents with 3mix and jline

Summary:

Tzuyu thought that going straight to her mom instead of her mama for this type of discussion was for the better — for everyone. Embarrassingly enough, whenever Tzuyu tries to even just breathe out the word "dating" to Momo's face, her mama hardly takes it very well.

She even throws stuff sometimes, too.

Notes:

these are just products of my 30 minute writing bursts so basically what i'm trying to say is these are all short and ridiculous.

hope you enjoy anyway.

Chapter 1: of being parents with nayeon and momo

Chapter Text

Tzuyu fiddled with her fingers as she walked timidly towards her mom's study in search, specifically, for Nayeon.

(But that was only during that one time Tzuyu tried to sneak out at midnight to see this boy she was so crazy about in sophomore year.)

(He's in a band, what exactly can Tzuyu do?)

"Mom?" Tzuyu calls out softly, but Nayeon wasn't in her study when she peeked through the opened door.

She heaved out a sigh, dragging her feet towards the kitchen, the only other place where her mom could possibly be at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

Sure enough, when she walked in, she was immediately met by the sight of her mom stirring beef stew in a pot. She lets her eyes scan the rest of the room, but she didn't spot her mama anywhere.

Tzuyu knows this was her chance. "Hey, mom, can I ask you something?"

Nayeon turns around, an eyebrow raising in surprise. "Sweetie, you're home early."

Tzuyu blinks. "But it's a Saturday. There's no school today."

Nayeon takes a spoonful of the stew and blew on it. "Oh, no, honey. I was talking to your mama, right there."

Tzuyu's eyes widened, "What—" and when she turned around, she saw her mama by the front door, taking off her coat before walking straight towards their direction.

"Yeah. There was a bomb threat at work." Momo replies nonchalantly, effectively causing Tzuyu's eyes to widen in shock, and Nayeon to choke on the soup on the wooden spoon she was holding up to her mouth.

"Jesus, Momo, what?!"

"Kidding!" Momo laughs, kissing Tzuyu on the cheek when she passed by her before striding towards her wife and pecking her cheek as well. "Sana had somewhere she needs to be. Some meeting, whatsoever. She said I could take the rest of the evening off, too."

Tzuyu couldn't keep her disppointment to herself. Great, now she has no other choice but to tell her mama about it, as well. She heaved a sigh, a little too louder than she intended to, which Momo immediately noticed.

"What's with the grumpy face, kiddo?" asked her mama, which immediately caused Tzuyu's gaze to snap towards her.

Nayeon shifts in Momo's arm around her waist, too, facing her daughter with a questioning look. "Oh, right. You were saying something, sweetheart?"

Now Tzuyu knows she had no choice but to just spit the question out.

Still utterly dreadful, she mumbles under her breath, "Uhm, well, I met this girl in chemistry class yesterday. Her name's Chaeyoung, and I think she's really cute, and she asked me if—"

Momo almost spits out her water, head shaking violently as she dropped her glass on the table with an angry thud.

"No, no. Absolutely not!" She exclaims, a hand waving off her daughter while still shaking her head in a rather hasty pace.

It caused Nayeon to roll her eyes. "Oh, come on! At least let your daughter finish what she's saying!"

"I already know where this is going!"

"She hasn't even said anything yet about what this Chaeyoung girl is asking her!" Nayeon counters, hands falling on her hips as she faced her wife in disbelief. "Who knows, maybe she's just gonna invite Tzuyu to a group study with their friends?"

"I don't remember any group study happening at midnight last year?"

Tzuyu had to wince at that.

"Hirai Momo, that was a year ago, and Tzuyu was in love with that boy from that band." Nayeon continues to defend, raising an eyebrow challengingly at an exasperated Momo. "Remember when I snuck out at midnight to watch your band perform at that dumpster and had to sit next to your 'crowd' of five drunks—"

Momo's eyes impossibly widened at her wife's words. "Hey! Don't say anything in front of your daughter!"

Nayeon raised her hands up, scoffing.

"You're insufferable. At least hear Tzuyu out first, and then we'll decide."

Momo, clearly cornered (and a little scared, too, of the way her wife is now glaring at her), had no other choice but to just sigh.

"Fine," she says, and then she turns to face their daughter standing by the kitchen counter. "Alright, honey, what was this kid asking of you?"

Tzuyu, still stunned at the new information she got about her parents and their dating years, blinks several times, registering her mama's question.

Eventually, she finds her voice, letting out in stutters,

"Oh, uhm. Well, Chaeyoung asked me if I wanted to, maybe, catch a movie with her... sometime... tomorrow..." Tzuyu hesitates, dreadful of how her mama was going to react this time. "...like, on a date?"

Nayeon was pretty sure Momo would've lost it one way or another, if it wasn't for her hand that snaked around Momo's waist in order to stop her from reacting so harshly at their daughter's question.

Sure enough, Momo managed to keep her cool, breathing deeply before cleared her throat in order to retort,

"One question, sweetheart," Nayeon almost laughs at how squeaky Momo's voice came out, but she bit her lip to stop herself from doing so. "What time are you two going to this, erm, date you were saying?"

Nayeon was pretty sure Momo was only trying her hardest not to burst when Tzuyu answers her, "Around midnight, I think? We kinda wanted to see the last full show, so..."

"Hm-mm, okay," Momo nods repeatedly, obviously not a fan of her daughter's response.

Nayeon rubbed small circles on her wife's back before turning to an expectant Tzuyu before them. "And is she gonna pick you up?"

Tzuyu nods eagerly.

"And take me home— here, I mean. Not take me to her house or anything. No, mama. I swear." She stutters out, the last part intended especially for Momo. "So... is that okay with you guys?"

Silence consumed them after that, Nayeon refusing to respond as she was waiting patiently for her wife to make up her mind. Momo, on the other hand, was seemingly refusing to move, eyes only narrowed towards Tzuyu's direction as she studied her daughter intently.

After a few more seconds, eventually, Momo decided to straighten her body before nodding slowly.

"Yeah, no. Nice try, kid."

Disappointment was quick to paint on Tzuyu's features. "But—"

"You're seventeen years old. Too young. You can date when you're married." Momo interrupts, waving her off as she headed for the stairs, leaving both Nayeon and Tzuyu in the kitchen, watching her retreating figure in utter disbelief.

Sometimes Nayeon can't believe she actually married Momo.
