Chapter Text
He stumbled into the darkened, empty church with unseeing eyes and walked zombie-like to the front of the church before dropping to his knees in a front-row pew.
It had been years since he’d stepped foot into a church. He didn’t even know if he believed that a god existed anymore.
But, in his darkest hour, here he was on his knees in front of someone he used to find comfort in. There was no one else.
His eyes rose to the cross and the man hanging there, barely visible in the darkness.
“Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned” he whispered, dropping his head into his hands.
He had torn a family apart. Taken a life. Someone was gone forever and it was because of him.

He opened his eyes wide, drawing a sharp breath, shaking his head in an attempt to get the image out of his head.
But it was no use.
