Kronii woke up later than everyone, alerted by a delicious scent and some frying noises coming from the kitchen. She sat in her bed for a while until she gathered enough strenght to leave her blankets. With half-lidded eyes and dishevelled hair, she finally put her slippers on and stumbled to the kitchen. On her way she was too groggy to noticed some of her roommate's room were open and their bed empty.
When she entered the kitchen, she frowned at the sudden brightness and had trouble getting accustomate to it. While rubbing her eyes she eventually noticed a familiar silhouette with green hair facing the cooking stove. She slowly dragged herself behind her and hugged her tight. She burried her face in the crook of her neck and mumbled "Hi babe..." in a weak and husky morning voice.
She felt Fauna immediately stiffened in her arms.
"BABE?!"
The loud voice forcefully dragged the warden out of her sleep. She didn't notice all of the council were already awake and sitting at the kitchen table, waiting for their breakfast. Seeing their bewildered expression Kronii understood she did a mistake.
"Is Fauna your babe?!" Baelz repeat in an inquiring tone
"No!" Fauna jolted and abruptly untangled herself from Kronii's embrace. "I don't know what she's talking about, she's just dozy!" Her voice was wavering and she was bright red.
She hastily turned off the stove and was setting up the plates while Kronii just hopelessly stood there trying to find a way out with a lie, but her brain only allowed her to stammered unintelligible words.
"Um...I...no it's..."
"Anyway, we should just eat or we're going to be late" Fauna cut her off and brought the food to the kitchen table. She tried to change the subject but it wasn't an easy task, all of the girls had their eyes glued to them. The keeper tried to ignore it and sat between Mumei and Sana, far away from Kronii's usual place.
Kronii sheepishly sat down too. She didn't dare to look at their genmates, but tried to make eye contact with Fauna to seek forgiveness. Her puppy eyes didn't reached the green-haired girl who was furiously munching while doing her best to ignore her as well.
Fortunately for them the girls didn't pushed the matter further, but kept on glancing at them with sardonic smiles. They ate their breakfast quickly before getting ready to start the day and resumed their regular activities as the council.
It was a hectic day, and Kronii was walking on eggshells for most of it. She felt stupid for what she did in the morning and wanted to apologize to Fauna but she wouldn't gave her the opportunity to do so. She was sulking and Kronii felt like a guilty child who tentatively tried to reach for their mother after being scolded. She made several attempt to talk to her, but Fauna would gave her a cold shoulder and short and stiff answers whenever she was adressing her, and would cut the conversation short.
It had been several days since they started going out together, yet they still hadn't told their genmates. For now they were still in their love bubble, like 2 newlyweds, and were too shy to come out to the world. They were stealing kisses and being lovey-dovey whenever the others has their back turned, and enjoyed the intimacy of it. They will told them eventually, but for now they weren't ready.
However, it had been a while since the council noticed a tenderness between them and would occasionnally tease, but until now no one has spotted them. Kronii calling Fauna sweet name in the morning was the confession they were trying to avoid and they knew that trying to brush it off now was too late. The girls did remained silent and respectfull of their boundaries, but the two lovebirds could felt their ravenous smile whenever their back were turned.
The day was long for Kronii, she felt each hour passing by. In the end she didn't manage to talk to Fauna and end up going with her flow, but she had not given up yet. In the evening, after making sure everyone retreated to their room for the night, she sneakily went to Fauna's door. With everyone away, surely she will accepted to talk to her, right?
She soflty called for her through the closed door :
"Hey Fauna it's me, can we talk for a bit?"
No answers. Maybe she is already asleep? While she stuck her ear to the door to listen closely the bathroom door busted open. Mumei went out with damped hair and a towell around her shoulders.
Shit
With the corridor lights off and the silence around the house, Kronii thought her genmates were already asleep, but Mumei was usually so discreet it was hard to spot her sometimes.
"Oh...Hey. Are you done with the bathroom? I was just...checking out if Fauna has already brushed her teeth and stuff"
Mumei watched her in disbelief then flashed her most sassy smile. She then resumed her way to her room, saying nothing more.
Oh my gosh what a shitty liar
Kronii wanted to slam her own face to the wall. Until the end she was doing nothing more than rubbing salt to the wound. If Fauna was awake she surelly would have heard everything and would definitely not open the door.
The warden made her mind and sadly dragged her body to her room, there will be no goodnight kiss tonight. She burried herself under the blankets and hugged a plushie Fauna lended her. Maybe tomorrow she will be in a better mood and give her a chance to talk this out.
Before drifting off to sleep she received a notification on her phone. It was from Fauna.
She hastily opened her text application and saw a cute sulking sticker, followed by a heart.
Suddenly her mood brightened. She sat up in bed then fervently looked for a pleading emoji to send. She added several hearts before pushing the send button.
Usually she would be disgusted at herself for being this desperate, but it had been a long day and Fauna has always being her weakness. She indulged herself a lot when she was with her.
Almost immediatly after she received back a different sulking sticker with no more hearts, but it didn't matter because this time Fauna was the one who reached for her despite being angry, and it made Kronii happy and all mushy.
They kept on battling each others with non-textual message until they both fell asleep, with angry stickers and occasional hearts from Fauna, and a colorfull palette of hearts, loving and crying emojis from Kronii's side.
The morning after, Kronii was in a good mood. She woke up before everyone to make breakfast. It was Fauna's duty this week but she wanted to surprise her , even though she wasn't the best cook.
She was agitating herself around the stove until she heard the faint noise of a door being shut in the corridor. She was ready to greet whoever was up but was interrupted by arms softly hugging her from behind. Kronii turned her head to see a wave of green silky hair surrounding what seemed to be a pouting face nuzzled against her shoulder. She couldn't help but chuckled.
Fauna huffed and hugged her tighter. She finally greeted her with a curt ton : "Hi babe"
