Shoes clicking against the floor of the corridor. Minerva McGonagall makes her way to the hospital wing. It was later in the night and the students were asleep, or at least should be. Minerva had just finished her rounds for the night and had only found two ravenclaws out of bed and in the hallway, passionately making out. She had taken house points from each of them and sent the two back to their dormitories.
As she approached the door of the infirmary, the sound of a floorboard squeaking reached her ears. Minerva's hand shopped halfway as she reached for the door handle. She turned around to see Madam Pomfrey standing there, a small smile on her face.
"Hello Poppy," Minerva said while meeting the school matron's gaze. "Funny seeing you here."
"Yes, I know, quite surprising." A sarcastic tone laced her voice, but Minerva could hear the loving note underneath it, if the fond look on Poppy's face was anything to go by. Minerva's heart skipped a beat, seeing the woman she loved most standing in front of her. Poppy was still in her school matron uniform even late into the night.
A comfortable silence fell between the two that was eventually broken by Poppy. "Do you want to go back to my room and have some tea?"
"Of course, I would love to," was Minerva's reply. A light blush was dusting her cheeks at the implication that this might be a date. They both made their way into the infirmary and as soon as the door was closed, Poppy was pulled into a kiss. The kiss was just as wonderful as the first one they ever shared.
Just another night with the married couple at Hogwarts.
