Work Text:
Miyeon cracks her knuckles in an attempt to draw at least a smidge of attention her way, but really only ends up hurting herself when her thumb joint pops at a weird angle.
She flops back against the couch with a huff.
Well wonderful, now her thumb was sore and Soojin and Shuhua still won't even look at her.
She sneaks a peak at the two. Stone-faced and eyes trained at the T.V, Shuhua's head is resting in Soojin's lap, while the latter massaged the younger girl's hands. A pout now pasted on her face, Miyeon huffs again, this time more loudly.
No reaction.
"Guys," She finally whines, turning to look at them full on. "I'm sorry, okay?"
If looks could burn, she'd be on fire from the way Shuhua's eyes slowly slide over to glare at her. And when Soojin's judging eyes join in, Miyeon feels like she's going to explode.
"Can you give a good excuse for what you've done?" Shuhua asks, coldly.
"Well -"
"Exactly." The younger girl sniffs haughtily. Clearly negotiations were going to be next to impossible.
It takes all of Miyeon's willpower to not give into the feeling of injustice.
She bites her lip and looks desperately to Soojin. "Soojin-ah...please?"
The tall girl rolls her eyes, then after a pause, bends over to whisper something into Shuhua's ear.
Miyeon waits anxiously. Whatever she said, it has an effect on the younger girl, because Shuhua drags herself up into a sitting position, crossing her arms and beckoning for Miyeon to come closer, which she does quickly.
"This is judgement day for you," Shuhua says in a deep voice, clearly trying to be serious despite her hair being up in space buns and wearing that fluffy lion hoodie. It's the essence of adorable, but Miyeon restraints herself from squealing because she might not get this chance again tonight. "Now, since I'm only letting this happen because my lovely, wonderful Soojin-unnie asked, you better explain quickly."
Soojin just shrugs, turning back to the tv.
"Okay, thank you. I, um," Miyeon's tongue trips a little under the watchful gaze of Shuhua. "So, it began when Yuqi..."
It takes about ten minutes to explain everything to her solum judger, with periodic glances towards Soojin, who seems to not be listening but Miyeon knows she is.
"So, if I'm hearing this correctly. You went to watch the movie that we've been waiting to see...because Yuqi asked you to?"
Miyeon scratches her head, "To be fair, I didn't know you guys wanted to go see it."
"We've been talking about it for the past few weeks." Shuhua throws her hands up, exasperated. "Deaf pabo-unnie."
"I'll just buy you tickets, and you and Soojin go see it, okay?"
"No!"
The outburst from Shuhua surprises Miyeon.
"Why not?"
"Because we already bought tickets awhile ago for a showing...and it's not the same," grumbles Shuhua, looking flushed enough that Miyeon distantly wonders if it's too hot with that hoodie on.
Moreover though, an overbearing sense of guilt begins to bear down on her shoulders. Yet, before her apologies can begin spewing out, Soojin speaks up, pausing her drama.
"You did tell her about the tickets, right?" With narrowed eyes, she raises an eyebrow at Shuhua, who freezes. "Well?
"Ummm..." When wild gestures don't subdue the waiting Soojin, a pale Shuhua pulls the strings in her hood tightly around her face. "I...thought you had," She sheepishly admits.
The silence surrounds them like an awkward hug.
"Oh," Miyeon finally says.
They all look at each other.
"Oh."
.
With Shuhua's fingers in her hair and Soojin's arm resting across her legs, Miyeon comes up with the solution.
"We can just go watch it again."
