"Fuck, fuck, fuck, what am I going to tell Sirius!" James chanted these words as he sprinted through the Gryffindor common room. He seemed not to have noticed that the Sirius in question was sitting in a arm chair by the fire.
"Um you okay Prongs?" Sirius ventured with a rather confused look on his face. As if snapped out of a trance James jumped and looked at Sirius having seemingly just noticed him.
"How dare you infect me with you homosexuality Sirius, I thought we were friends!" James was obviously being over dramatic but Sirius was still very confused and slightly hurt.
"I- what? James what-" Before Sirius could even compose a sentence James was gone up the stairs presumably to there dorm room.
"Well" Sirius said to Peter who was laying by the fire in front of him. "What do ya think that was about?"
"I dunno. Think we should check on him?" Peter asked finishing up his potions essay looking equally as confused.
"Might be best to give him a moment. He seemed kinda worked up didn't he?" Sirius said but still curiosity rolled through him in waves. What was James going on about? How does one even infect someone with there gayness?
"Remus will probably calm him down. He's still up there right?" Peter asked as he began putting his text book and work away.
"Yeah he is. Maybe he can tell James that being gay isn't a contagious disease." Sirius said with a laugh.
"I'm surprised he even knows he's gay or whatever. I thought he would always only ever be obsessed with Lily. Also does this mean he has a crush?" Peter asked as he adjusted himself in prospective of the fire.
"I guess. Who do you think it is? OH! Maybe it's that cute Hufflepuff we saw him talking to this morning!"
"Mmm maybe. It also could be you though. When James ran in he mentioned something about your reaction to telling you."
"No it couldn't be me! Could it? I mean we've been friends for years! He would have noticed the crush in the 6 years of school we've been together right?" Sirius asked. James knew him and Remus were dating so he couldn't have a crush on him!
"Imma go up and check on him. Make sure he's not in love with me or something." Sirius said as he got up and wondered up the stairs.
As he got closer he could hear James and Remus talking but couldn't make out any of what they were saying, so Sirius being nosy decided to try and spy on the two.
"And then I just kinda- ugh I can't believe I fell in love with Black!" He heard James say. His stomach fell. So James was really in love with him?
"You know your going to have to tell Sirius, right." He wondered how Remus was reacting? I mean Sirius is his boyfriend so there had to be some layer of jealousy or something?
"Yeah I know. You wanna know the worst part? I think he likes me too." What no. Sirius loves James of course he does, but not like that. God how was he gonna tell James? How do you reject your best friend but still keep the friendship as it was?
"How is that the worst part?"
"Because! If I didn't think he liked me I could try to just hide it and never talk about this stupid crush again but I can't! You should see the way he looks at me when I walk in the room! He thinks I'm the goddamn but Jesus he is just this beautiful crazy storm!" Okay this was starting to gross Sirius out a little bit. Also where was this coming from? Did he really have a look when James entered the room? He didn't think so?
"You have to tell Sirius! You don't want him finding out the wrong way. I think it's best if you just get it over with."
"Yeah your right. I'm just, what if he gets mad. I don't think I could stand to lose Sirius."
"You're just gonna have to try James."
"Yeah, yeah okay."
At that moment Sirius decided he was done listening. He pushed the door fully open revealing himself before walking inside and closing the door behind him.
"Oh um Sirius hi." James said with a nervous smile. "Did you get any work down? I really need the answers to the charms work."
"Oh uh no. I think Marlene has them though we could probably get her to share. But I wanted to ask if everything is okay? You seemed kinda weird a moment ago downstairs?" Sirius said sitting down on Peters bed which was opposite to James'.
"Oh uh yeah. There is uh actually something I wanted to talk to you about." James paused and glanced and Remus who gave him a reassuring smile. "I uh wanted to do something but I thought it would be best to ask your permission first."
"I uh okay?" This was not going in the direction Sirius had expected it to.
"I wanted to ask, I have been talking to uh," He paused taking a deep breathe "look I'm just gonna say it. I really like Regulus and I want to ask him out!" James said. His entire face was red and he looked slightly nauseous.
"Oh! Oh thank god!" Sirius laughed breathlessly.
"Um that was not the reaction I was expecting." James said looking up confused.
"I thought you had a crush on ME. I'm so glad we got that cleared up!" Sirius said smiling.
"Wait what?! You thought- HA! No, oh god no. Sirius I- HAHA just no"
"Well that was a little rude James." Sirius said with a small smirk.
"Sirius I love you. I really really do. But never, never ever like that. Oh god! Remus would have killed me if I did." James was laughing and Remus had an amused look on his face. God he was never gonna let Sirius live this one down.
"Wait, James! You like REGULUS?!" What James had said seemed to just have fully caught up with Sirius after the initial wave of gratitude that James wasn't in love with him.
"Oh uh yeah. Thoughts?" The nervousness seemed to have stiffened James right back up.
Sirius took a deep breathe and thought about it for a second. "If you are what makes Regulus happy and for whatever reason he makes you happy who am I to stand in the way of you guy's happiness."
"Wait really!" James asked standing up with a wide grin.
"I mean I guess." Sirius said with a light eye roll and a wide grin.
"OH! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" James said pulling Sirius into a tight hug. "Come on you too Remus." James said now laughing again of just pure joy. Remus stood up and joined there little group huge.
"You go better ask the little twerp out before I change my mind." Sirius said pulling away from the hug to go flop on the bed.
"Oh yeah! Thanks Pads. I really appreciate it!" James said as he grabbed the map and cloak from his bed.
"Yeah okay. Just as long as it isn't me." Sirius said with a small laugh.
"I still can't believe you thought I liked you"
"Yeah, yeah just get out." Sirius said. and with that James waved goodbye before running out of the room.
"I can't believe he likes Regulus and not me." Sirius said a few minutes later while laying in bed with cuddling with Remus.
"I think you'll live." Remus said with a small kiss.
"Maybe." Sirius said as he picked up his wand and turned off the light.
