   Summary

   At the beginning of Ruin and Rising, after regaining power from the Apparat, Alina realizes she can't fight the Darkling forever. So she comes up with a plan to work alongside the Black General, now self-declared Tsar of Ravka, not against him. They both have what the other needs: he has the power to end the civil war, and she has the power to make the people believe in them both.
