No TW for this, just probably the sappiest fic I've ever written in my life. lmao

Work Text:

It happened slowly, carefully. Yoongi had never been an easy person, always rough and sharp around the edges. Only once befriended did he let people in, see his true colors, and give them the gift of his friendship, his loyalty . But very rarely did anyone stay long enough to break through his walls, limiting his circle to six people. He’s come to find that six is all he really needs.

Namjoon was his first friend, the first one to stay long enough to break Yoongi down. At first, Yoongi hated having him around. He was quiet, yes, but irritably smart and confident. Later on he learned to realize it was jealousy that plagued his heart, and accepting him came much easier after that. Now, Yoongi doesn’t think he would ever feel complete again without Namjoon, a feat that his friend boasts about obnoxiously.

Then, Namjoon started dating Seokjin, an up and coming actor whose laugh resembled unkempt windshield wipers. Yoongi didn’t want to like him at first, blinded by the simmering feeling that Seokjin would take Namjoon from him, and they would both run away and leave Yoongi in the dust. That never happened.

Namjoon stayed, and Seokjin did too. Warming up to Seokjin became easier as the days passed, though he’s sure it has something to do with his delicious food and stale dad jokes. Still, Yoongi feels silly for having any negative feelings for Seokjin, his hyung.

His hardest adjustment was Hoseok, who was far too loud and too hyper for Yoongi to focus around. He used to despise the aspiring dancer, locking himself away in his room to hide from his contagious happiness. Seriously, how can anyone be that happy about life and not be fucked up in the head? But Hoseok never left, so Yoongi learned to allow himself to be happy too.

And then Hoseok brought along three of his students turned friends, Jimin, who was sassy and quick with his tongue, Taehyung, who clung to him like a younger brother, and Jungkook.

Jungkook.

Yoongi doesn’t know how to describe him, all the words that come to mind are just not enough, not worthy enough for him. All he can manage to say is that Jungkook is the brightest star in his galaxy, and Yoongi circles him endlessly. Jungkook is roughly four years his junior, but Yoongi has never felt more heard, more seen by anyone before in his life.

What they have is incomprehensible, he just knows it’s warm, sticky, and fills him up from the inside out. He’s wrapped in all things Jungkook, unable, and unwilling , to leave. Like all his friends, it took some time to get used to him. But it was different, in a way. Yoongi never found himself pulling away from him, but trying to pull himself in. Close wasn’t close enough, and Yoongi found himself yearning for a few more seconds of his attention.

He’s not sure if the younger one understands that he is Yoongi’s obsession, but he has to in some capacity. Anyone with working eyes can see that Yoongi’s infatuated with him, even their own friends tease him for his blatancy. He doesn’t care, though; he can’t if it means his actions bring a smile to Jungkook’s face.

“Hyung,” Speak of the devil and he appears, “What’re you doing out here by yourself?”

Jungkook settles beside him, muscular body warming his left side with their proximity. Yoongi wills himself to take a shallow breath, enough to regain his composure and stop himself from doing something stupid. Jungkook tosses his arm across his shoulder, body going limp across the back of the couch.

Yoongi appreciated Seokjin’s apartment in more ways than one, and now more so. They’re secluded on his friend’s balcony, couch tucked just a tad too far away from the sliding door to be seen from the inside. It leaves enough room for Yoongi to relax in Jungkook’s hold, and he allows himself to lean his back against Jungkook’s forearm. He’s been sitting outside for who knows how long, but it must’ve been a long time if the bitter chill nipping at his fingertips and nose are anything to go by.

“Just appreciating the view.” Yoongi mumbles. “Why are you out here?”

He’s overcome with an overwhelming wave of sadness, and he fights the pinch of brows. He can feel Jungkook’s gaze on him, and any sign of negative emotions will send the younger into a frenzy. He wishes he could melt his entire being into Jungkook, but he can’t. At least, he doesn’t think so. They may be close, but Yoongi isn’t sure if Jungkook likes him the way he does. It’s a thought that always makes his throat burn, a thought so suffocating he has to physically calm himself down or he’ll be lost to his own mind forever.

“Missed you,” Jungkook mumbles, but the soft sound of his voice warms him all the same, “Wanted to see what was taking you away from me.”

Yoongi smiles softly at him, unable to keep a wrap on his emotions. Jungkook looks good like this, bare-faced and slightly drowsy, with the wind lightly dancing through his hair. His cologne fills his lungs, a scent that puts Yoongi to sleep and gets his adrenaline rushing. His body never reacts to him properly, always stuck between going rampant and going lax in his hold.

“Nothin’ could take me away from you.” Yoongi mumbles, lids closing to bask in the chill of the fall air. It’s refreshing to be out here and observe the city at night, much calmer than what happens during the day. It’s nearing three in the morning, there are virtually no cars on the road, so it’s peaceful enough to lull him to sleep. Add Jungkook into that mix and he’s a goner.

Jungkook chuckles softly, fingers brushing through Yoongi’s hair gently. Somehow, he inches closer, thighs firmly pressed together. Yoongi tenses as Jungkook grabs legs and swings them over his thighs, left hand gripping his thin calves while the other stays moving against his scalp. The world melts away from him, and Yoongi thinks he wouldn’t mind staying like this for the rest of his life.

“Hyung,” Jungkook whispers softly, thumb pressing softly into the curve of his jaw to turn his head towards him, “Hyung, look at me.”

Yoongi opens his eyes, immediately met with Jungkook’s own piercing gaze. Yoongi’s known Jungkook long enough to see a range of emotions swimming in his gaze, though he’s having a hard time pinning it down. He can’t help but flush as Jungkook’s gaze traces his face, slowing down at the plush of his lips and then looking back into his eyes. Despite all the piercings and tattoos that litter his body, Yoongi thinks he looks incredibly soft. He looks like he’s in love.

“Yes, Jungkook?” He whispers back, not wanting to startle whatever this is. He swallows thickly, body suddenly horribly flushed as if it’s a summer’s day outside. Jungkook has that effect on him. Jungkook inches closer to him, so slowly Yoongi thinks he’s imagined it, but as Jungkook’s warm breath touches his cheeks, he knows he’s not hallucinating.

Jungkook tilts his head down, positioning himself just slightly lower than Yoongi’s nose, and inches up subtly. The first brush of their lips makes his mind go blank. “Let me know if you want me to stop.”

Stop? How could Yoongi ever think to stop his dreams from coming true?

“Okay.” He mumbles anyway, assuring that he heard Jungkook loud and clear.

“Okay.” Is the last thing Yoongi hears before Jungkook’s lips press against him. The dry winter leaves his lips a bit chapped, yet Yoongi can’t help but notice they’re the softest lips he’s ever felt in his life.

It’s a quick kiss, one that instantly has him craving for me. Jungkook pulls back slightly, observing his face for any form of expression. But Yoongi’s always been a bit impatient, and he rushes back into Jungkook, smashing their lips together in a frenzy. Jungkook momentarily startled, but he slips into their rhythm fast enough, wrapping his hand around the back of Yoongi’s neck to keep him close, close, close.

They pull away after a few minutes to catch their breath, the harsh sounds of their breathing filling the space between them. Jungkook’s still got a tight hold on him, tattooed fingers massaging Yoongi’s neck idly, enough to have him let out a low moan of appreciation. Jungkook chuckles at the sound breathlessly.

“Ah, hyung, I can’t even begin to get you to understand how much I like you.”

Yoongi smiles at the admission, leaning in once again. “Kiss me more?”

Jungkook grants his wish.

Notes:

Thank you for reading! Please leave any comments of how you enjoyed the fic. Kudos and comments are great motivators. And congrats to BTS on the proof album! I'm so incredibly happy for them. Having been a fan since 2014, this album definitely brings back memories of the days when I felt like complete and utter shit, and how happy they made me once I started listening to them. I feel like, as their fan, I have a responsibility to make and improve myself the way they would like me to (i.e pursue things I love that I gave up on) and such, especially as they enter a new era for themselves. I've been crying since 4 am this morning over Born Singer, and it's just really been a strange but comforting day so far. I hope you all have a great rest of your day, and enjoy the album as much as I do!
