To be touched by the light was a gift, one Aleksander told her he could sense. He had seen it in her from the moment he had spotted her in the aisles of the church house last November. She had taken a chance to come to the church, to follow a path she had never tread before in her tumultuous youth. She had been abandoned by her parents, had bounced around foster homes through her youth until the placements stopped. From then on it was a group home with too little staff to oversee the needs of the children. She had pulled herself up out of that life, to college near the small Vermont town at the foot of the mountains. And somehow… somehow all of that had led her to Aleksander, to the Fold–a family.
