Summary
Wilbur had applied to Columbia hoping for a miracle, praying that it would be the lifeline he'd been seeking his entire youth. He spent weeks scrutinizing his application before submitting it in the hopes that the admissions staff would be able to make out the blood and sweat between his answers to their questions and that he'd earn pity points on account of how hard he'd strive for perfection in its composition. After all, hard work always pays off, a mantra his mother had never let him forget before she started drifting away.
Still, Wilbur found himself shocked when his eyes had skimmed over the letter and failed to pick up the word regret's presence anywhere in its body.
It's only natural that the regret comes later in the form of one political science major with an ill-fitting nickname.
